  1. Oh heck no...I just had my first appt. this week. I am probably looking at December.
  2. Thanks Terry..much appreciated! I believe knowing I need the protein number one will be a big big help. My regular meals have been quite healthy for sometime although portion control is an issue of course. It's the carb/ sugar ( grazing us an understatement) that does me in.
  3. Thanks Revision ( is that a family name? ). What you describe is how I ate when I lost 135 pounds. I probably went 6 months without any sweets. I then found it easy to just have a bite or two and was very discriminate about what I chose. And I will keep you posted. I need this forum!
  4. I am working on wrapping my mind on this no sugar thing. Intellectually I get it and can cite all the reasons to " just do it". But emotionally...pow! Hits me like a bag of quarter rolls. I gave up refined sugar and processed foods for 4 years ..but there was raw honey. Bees were my friends. And the option was still there. I guess it still will be but I don't wanna get dumped! No doubt I am a sugar addict. I can eat Healthy meals very easily but then binge on 6 donuts. I know me well enough that I know will get this but for today...it is making me dizzy. But hey I quit smoking after 21 years and haven't looked back so anything is possibly.
  5. Cool beans. In my mind I just did a back flip for you!
  6. Did you breath yet? Kind of like a roller coaster ride...and I am just now getting line.
  7. Take care...may your gas pass!
  8. I thought it would be case by case but if sounds like the surgeon is pretty strict about it...plus I am pre-Barrett's. But I am feeling good about it all. I just am believing the bypass is the route I am suppose to take.
  9. For me it was a slight disappointment as I had invested in learning so much on the sleeve..but now I get to learn more. I don't see it as all that different...and probably what I needed anyway. You probably just need some time to ingest ( no pun intended) it all.
  10. . Good luck to you..you are close to your date!
  11. It is good to know that there are those who can relate. I am aware I can't take them..which is where the concern comes from. I seen the topical ones..would probably need to bathe in them Narcotics are not my friend at all....I would rather deal with the pain.
  12. I had been leaning toward the sleeve but it seems my doctor has other ideas. And since the only medical degree I have was one I printed out I think I will give his opinion a wee bit of importance. I have GERD and am pre- Barrett's so I knew the sleeve was iffy. I had my orientation session and was told by the RN Case Manager that their docs would not do the sleeve for someone with my condition. And considering I am a binge sweetaholic the bypass Is probably better. Oh well I was getting tired of donuts anyway. I am concerned though as anti inflammatories are my best friend. I believe I have arthritis nearly everywhere possible. I am going to begin to look at other options since margaritas appear out too. I know the weight loss will help the hips and knees as I was in relatively good shape and athletic just 4 years ago. I had lost 130 pounds on WW and was running, mountain biking (best high in the world), weight lifting and loving it all. Then I tore my hip up and slowly 80 pounds of the weight came back on. And now it is hard to even walk. I waddle...and I am too young to waddle! So I committed to this endeavor. I have 6 months to wait..great Christmas present though.
  13. We'll I had my orientation today. Looks like I might be switching to team Bypass. I was told my surgeon will not do the sleeve on anyone with GERD history. I knew this was a concern but I thought it might be more case to case. I am concerned about not being able to take anti inflammatories with the bypass. I see the surgeon in 10 days so I will know more then.
  14. From what I have seen it varies significantly. Some insurances cover nearly everything while others barely half.
  15. I was wondering how it compared to gallbladder surgery..which I had twice. Yes twice..they missed it the first time. I went 5 years thinking my gallbladder was out. First surgery recover was very rough..second ( when they actually removed it) was easy. Hope you feel better quickly.
  16. Have an incredible surgery...and subsequent fabulous life!
  17. From what I have read these conditions have no impact.
  18. Someone super new in the process like me. I go next Thursday for my appt. I have Aetna and was told the 3 or 6 months would be based on both patient and doctor discussion/ conclusion. I fell like I am headed for a super vacation..so exciting.
  19. I am right behind you. I have my first consult next week.
  20. Glad it is going so well for you.
  21. Welcome home. I am always encouraged when I see someone come home after one night. Take care.
  22. You look fantastic!
