    Website Difficulties?

Mine recently started constantly reloading. Initially it might be every 5 minutes but now it is every 15- 45 seconds or so. Frankly it makes it useless to come here. I am on IPAD Safari browser.

    No pre-op diet?

I only had one day liquid diet but he does require heavier patients to do a shake diet with one meal for two weeks.

    New

I would really encourage you to read around this site, other sites, and even consider purchasing some books. It will give you a more rounded viewpoint. The Obesity Coalition and American Society for Bariactric Surgery are great resources too. https://asmbs.org http://www.obesityaction.org

    Help!

That varies for each surgeon. You should have been given a timeline for each stage. If not then contact your NUT/ surgeons office.

    Newbie

Use the time to research and research some more. The more knowledge you have the more chance you have of being successful.

    Help!

There is little in there so it's not unusual at all. I think I was a 8 days and then it was very loose and not much.

    Is this normal

You are going through a life changing surgery so having those thoughts is normal. I see too often individuals who seem to look at this as just a way to lose weight and it is scary. I considered it on and off for years then lost 130 pounds without it. And upon gaining half of that back I knew I had to take this route. This is NOT a temporary thing. And it is okay to postpone a bit if you need more time. Hopefully you have done tons of research..on all aspects of the surgery and life changes needed to be successful. Good luck!
  8. I think it varies but I found the surgical pain minimum but the overall exhaustion overwhelming at times. By 5 days the surgery pain was insignificant but it took 3 weeks to be able to say I had a little bit of energy. Now at four weeks no surgical pain at all and energy probably at 50 %.

    I need advice

The wide variety you are seeing here is why it is important to talk to your doc. And I agree that one month without protein sounds off.

    Give up

The first two weeks are rough but it is important to begin positively dealing with head hunger. I am 4 weeks out and it really is a roller coaster but I didn't expect this to be a breeze. My energy level was nearly non existant until last week and everything was a struggle to get done. But I simply kept telling myself it would get better...and it has.

You need to contact your surgeon. Everyone's situation is different and it is important that you comply.

    Juicing?

If it's not protein It wouldn't be worthy of a meal. Not to mention potential high sugar count if mainly fruit. Maybe you need to get more specific.

    I need advice

Didn't you get some specific guidelines from your surgeons office / NUT?

    One month out and vomiting!

Dumping is from eating high fat or sugary things. It sounds like as you said you just overdid it. You may likely irritated your pouch. Since this was last night if it continues today call your doctor.

    Portion size?

I would suggest contacting your NUT. I was given a whole booklet of menus with amounts..by volume. It may vary based on length of stages so it is best to go to your personal source.
  16. Whatever your surgeons office/ nut recommended...which would be based on your needs.
  17. I have read about papaya enzymes and included it in my pre- surgery purchases as many vets swore by it. I have not had to use them yet.
  18. I take it this is not a counseling group? I ran therapy groups for years so it is difficult for me to answer without referencing group therapy techniques. But you could do written exercises as a way to limit those lengthy speakers. You would ask each individual to share. You also could ask for one or two word answers....asking for the most powerful word they can think of. You could have feeling words or thoughts on laminated paper and do all different techniques/ exercises to illicit input on different subjects from different people. You definitely need to redirect individuals who sway from the topic...include this as part of your guidelines. Most certainly set up other guidelines...although I think 5 minutes is a long time. If you have a regular long winder then I would remind them of the guidelines if they ignore them. Frankly these type of individuals usually don't respond well to this type of intervention and will see themselves as being slighted and treated unfairly. They may even threaten to not return or complain about you...just stick to your guidelines. When in therapy this would become an issue to work on but that is not likely appropriate in a group you are speaking of.
  19. Amylynns ... Although I haven't eaten out yet I previously lost quite a bit of weight and kept it off for several years. I had to become quite assertive when eating out. I would ask how things were prepared...if the waitress didn't know I would ask her to find out. I would ask for things special ordered ...or sauces on the side etc. most places will ablidge and the ones that didn't were scratched off my list as choices. Just the other day when ordering a decaf coffee with soy the barista asked me, sort of, if vanilla soy was okay...she was almost pouring it in my coffee. I stopped her as I know vanilla has a higher sugar content. We have to be proactive.
  20. Not sure what stage you are on but I am two days behind you and just moved to soft foods. Salmon, tuna, omelette, black bean Soup, crab meat..a few of the things I have had of will have tomorrow. These are foods I enjoyed before. However my " Normal" would have been very large servings with buttered down potatoes, bread and tons of whatever carb I could get. I am electing to not indulge in carbs such as potatoes even though it is allowed. Perhaps you need to be a bit more creative with cooking or just simply patient until you get to the next phase. Hang in there.

    Having surgery

Totally depends on your insurance approval timeframe and then your surgeons schedule...everyone's is different.
  22. You should be able to get a copy of your specific insurance companies requirements. I did so there was no doubt what to expect. Contact your insurance company and ask for them to be emailed to you. Or they may even be on line. Policies differ so much it is better to go right to the source.. Secondly now is the time to start figuring out alternative ways to cope with stress because it will be there post op too.

"picky eaters" - my pet peeve

ITA. I am eating things right now in soft foods phase that don't really appeal to me. I was a slave to preservatives, high fat, high sugar foods. Now I am shooting for total clean eating. I ate clean for 4 years before I went off the wagon. Even though I regained I am so happy to have had that experience...it forced me to learn to like some tastes that initially did not appeal to me.
