  1. I would ask about how many calories a day are recommended. I'm 6 mths and average 800 calories a day. At 3 -4 weeks I was getting in 400 - 600 calories a day. I don't expect to eat anywhere near 1,000 calories a day until at least a year out.

I'm 10 weeks out, and I eat about 500-650 calories per day. I avoid Pasta, bread, rice, anything really sweet, I feel sick to my stomach when I attempt to consume them. 3 weeks into my journey I hit a stall, and now the weight is coming off very slowly. My 3 month appointment is scheduled for the first week of May and I'm nervous about going since my surgeon made me feel bad about my 3 week stall.

  2. I am a type 2 diabetic, and the requirements were my AIC needed to be at 7 or below. Mine was 6.2 day of surgery. You can do it!

I was just diagnosed this past week with type 2 and was so close to surgery I could taste it, but they will not touch me until my sugars are lowered of course.. I would love to hear stories about other diabetics and their surgeries...

    Thanks

  3. Hi February sleevers

I had my surgery on Monday morning. Waking up from surgery was difficult, quite a bit of pain and nausea. Thankfully, things are much better now. I was wondering how much liquids are you being able to get every day? Yesterday (4 days post op) I did 45 liquids and 60 grms. protien. I am really trying to get to 60 today. I have my follow up appointment Tuesday and the Dr. will not move me to pureed foods until I get 60ml of liquid a day. Just the thought of being in Clear Liquids for a another week makes me sick. Honestly, the clear liquids parts has truly been the hardest part of all the process so far. Thank you for all your responses and best of luck!

    Patricia

I feel your pain, I had my surgery Feb 2nd and I start my puree diet on Monday the 16th. After 4 days, I ditched the protien powders, it was just too sweet for me. Now I use plain yogurt, PB2 powder, and half of a banana to give me the 20 grams of Protein 3 times per day, hang in there, you be moved to pureed foods soon.

  4. 100% normal. I couldn't get down an entire Protein shake over the course of a day until week out, much less two. It took me a month to hit 300 calories a day and I stuck there until about three months.

I agree, i'm lucky I can at least tolerate the shake, speaking of which i'm tired of consuming it. it tastes so differently now that I'm post op.

Wow I guess it can be normal then.. I just feel like I should be able to tolerate more yA know. How far post op are you lipstick?

I also had surgery 9 days ago, it takes me forever to take my Protein shakes down, and probaby 3 teaspoons of Soup and i'm full. I have to wait 30 minutes to take my meds before I eat or drink rather. l was assured this is all normal.

  5. Hi everyone surgery went well .. Recovery was a tad difficult with nausea. Once that passed I've felt great! Walking a lot and tolerating clear liquids for now. Just thrilled to be on the losers bench !! Going home today

Glad to hear your're doing well, I went home on Feb 4th. I'm so excited to be on the bench finally!

  6. Feb 2nd here !! Began my 1000 cal per day diet today for five days ... Then liquids for just 3. Reality is setting in!! So anxious to get this done and behind me! The mini bouts of panic do not help. Feeling positive at the moment - staying away from negativity is key!!

Sounds like the diet used by the Michigan Bariatric institute, My surgery was the second, and I startedmy 1000 calorie diet on Jan 25th.

  7. When I say dating...I mean serious long term relationships. Of course lots of men like big women...but in my experience its only for sex and nothing more. New Yorkers can be very vain...here its all about looks. Ive actually heard men admit to only liking big women because they thought they were easier.

And usually the ones who like me are not my type. I've tried online dating and it just never seems to work out. The guys are either crazy, too old or just wanna have sex.

I hate to admit this but my thin friends get the better quality guys. I have a vibrant personality, totally cute, confident, and socially active. But at the end of the day Im always getting over-looked.

As a former New Yorker, I agree the dating scene in NYC the men are very visual! I will not miss taking medications for high blood pressure and type 2 diabetes
