My BMI is 35.9/ told to gain b4 liquid diet
gilliebean replied to gigim's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
i would think once your insurance has approved it that it wouldn't matter anymore cause you were given the go ahead. I guess i could be wrong -
im only three months out but i haven't had any problems but that doesn't mean anything either. There are so many variables it would be impossible to tell you for sure. I was scared to thats why i had this surgery and not the bypass cause i couldn't get over my fear to have the bypass but got over to have this one. The best advice I think is to know that you can trust your surgon (sp?)
-
They gave me hydrocodon (sp?) but i didn't need it i had two shots of some kind of antiflamitory in the hospital but other then that i had no pain meds. I also have 0 pain tolerance.

Any ideas? I'm just not getting enough.....
gilliebean replied to nesser081982's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
your on clear liquids before your surgery? Then your going to be hungry drink lots and lots of water that will curb that hunger alittle bit anyway. -
BMI 60 and above now OR when you started!
gilliebean replied to Wishes4444's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
High i started with a BMI of 59 but i must be taller then you because my starting weight was 382. I also don't understand doing such drastic messures for not a lot of weight to lose but i guess its all about personal decissions. I am here if you would like my support and you can PM me anytime you like. I can always use more lapband buddies -
Hi I have a question. I just had my second fill. I for some reason can't drink water. I can drink warm drinks and cold drinks just not plain water. Has anyone else had this problem and will it go away?
-
i can get it down but its painful. I do think i needed a little unfill and everything kinda hurts going down. It took me three hours to 1/2 cup of mashed potatoes last night

I had my second fill yesturday. The doctor told me it was pretty tight cause he is having problems getting into my port. So here is the question will the tightness losen up after a while?
-
i know they don't have anything to do with each other however, because he is having problems getting into my port even under fluro he was alittle more aggressive then he normally would have been in the hopes that my fill will last longer

I am trying to figure out what is a good amount to burn per 1 hour work out. I currently work out for an hour 4-5 days a week I know i need to increase but i would love to know what a good rate of calorie burn is

hi i am very much in the same boat as you. I have these workout dvd's that you would think was for old people but to start with those and work your way up to something more up beat i think is good. It call Walk away the pounds and its a great place to start i also have the jillian michaels dvd's but they are a little to advanced for me at the moment but when i get there i will be rockin it cause they are pretty good and we all know how she likes to kick butt. So anyway there are my suggestions. I also just purchased a yoga for beginers dvd in the hopes it would help me with my streches.

Did anyone else 2nd guess their choice?
gilliebean replied to westcoastmom's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
think lots of people second guess what they have done in the first couple weeks. Its your brain trying to catch up with whats really going on. I had a major freak out and mental break down but then i got over it and im fine now. Once you can eat some regular food and start feeling human again you will probably feel better -
My father in law sent me some falafle and i don't know what to do with it. If anyone out there knows how to cook it so it tastes good please let me know thanks lots.

Think everyone is hungery during the liquid and pureed stages cause it all goes down to your big stomache. You are on the liquid and pureed foods so that if your stomache got inflamed do to the fill it will heal. You are probably retaining water most people can't gain 5lbs of real weight in one night thats impossible.
-
Dont stress so much. Heres a couple things you can't base your weight lose off others cause us bigger people will lose fast generally speaking. I didn't lose any weight for like three weeks either I starting going back to the gym and I am losing between 1-2 lbs a day right now. I know it will slow down but while its happing i am happy. So the moral don't stress and start moving.
-
the first assumption is that you always start with things you can do at home. So you eat slower, you eat something different maybe your band isn't ready for that. I wasn't aloud to eat solids for three days after my fill so that if my stomach was irriated.
-
Are you drinking right after you eat or are you waiting an hour? You need to wait an hour. I think if you can eat without chewing well and nothing gets stuck you probably need a fill. I know i do

I Want My Band Removed Now!!!!!
gilliebean replied to yazmarrero85's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I went threw the same depression i mean i didn't want to take it out cause i was still alittle rational. Westcoast is my lapband buddy and i don't think i would be sane if it weren't for him. You really need to find a lapband buddy that gets you like him and i get each other. It helps alot. I was very upset that i couldn't eat what i wanted i called friends and would just cry cause i couldn't eat certain things. But i just keep telling myself i will beable to eat normal food again and sure enough almost two months later I can. I am still learning how to cope with my feelings cause i can't emotionaly eat. Which makes it harder to get threw the depression when you don't know how to deal with it. The things that have helped me is reading this board, talking to someone that understands me and to just keep talking. If you keep it bottled up it makes it worse. I talk to anyone who appears to be listening lol. It does get better. Your hormones are probably off to. I know mine are I have had my monthly three times since surgery, I am super B*tch, but I to know that it will all even out soon i just have to be patient. I hope this helps if not im sorry. You can Pm me when ever you like hopefully i can be your ear. -
