    Pureed after surgery

I had to do Clear Liquids for 1 week and then full liquid, the pureed and then all food. Regardless I would follow your own surgeon and if it is not possible see what else they have for you. Stay in close touch with them or whomever is taking care of you post op. Good luck to you! Colleen

    Was this a mistake?

Even though we were in and out of surgery like a drive thru it was still a major surgery on our bodies. It is normal to feel all kinds of different ways. Just one day at a time is all you should expect of yourself right now. Everything will be fine and soon you will be loosing and it just gets better, at least for me. Good luck, anxiety is very difficult. If it gets to be too much don't be afraid to get help and ALWAYS run things by the surgeons office. They are your rock right now and of course your friends here are willing to help. Best of luck! Colleen

    A little tight?

You said nothing goes down well but Soup and such doesn't sound like the green zone but a slight overfill. They should be able to take a teensy amount out so you can get some Protein in. We are suppose to be loosing weight but also need nutrition. i think it is common to want to be tight but that doesn't sound right to only get liquids in. Preserve your health, Vitamins and muscles and let them get you into a truer green zone. Good luck to you! Colleen

    Walking on day of surgery

I walked around my house every time I woke up and all day off and on constantly. I am not talking a marathon by any means but at least enough to get everything moving. I never experienced any gas etc but seems most people do. If you are up to pee, walk around, if up to get a drink, you get the idea? As much as you comfortably can. Good luck!
  7. Everything in moderation. The only thing I have been instructed as forbidden is drinking soda or using a straw. The rest is up to me. Also depends what stage your in on your new life style. When you are in the first stages after being banded an avocado is a nice soft mushy choice and you can afford a bit more calories/fat into your choices you make for the day. It all boils down to the same thing calories consumed verses calories burned. Obviously an avocado is a much more tasty and splendid way to get in nutrients than many other high fat foods.

    Depression

Yep, I suffer from it too. It is a vicious circle depression and weight gain. Not sure who you get your scripts from but a real pyschiatrist is a must as GP are not for mental health. Also I suggest a counselor to talk to because you need that to help with why you eat and what to do to get it and keep it stopped on a mental level. Don't leave this problem hanging, the band can only help with the hunger not the monsoon of other problems we suffer from. Divide (problems) and conquer! Although husbands are great it is common to suck at understanding this issue. Find help today, call and get a referral or whatever you need. I know that is a lot to do when your depressed so ask a family member or a close friend for help. Hugs, Colleen

It is so awesome when your day comes. You are so close to another chapter and that is exciting.

    How many calories?

I do recall the doctors office telling me when I was a little frustrated about waiting 6 weeks for a fill after being banded was that this is the time for healing from the surgery not necessarily for weight loss. With that said, they also told me that they thought I would be about 10lbs down on my next appt. Go figure, lol I will surpass the 10lbs but thought it was kind of funny.

    How many calories?

Did you look through your paperwork from the surgeon? Mine is all listed in there and says 1000-1200 calories a day. Of course omitting high fat foods and so on. The reason I am reminding you to look at your ppw is because I was just looking through mine last night and realized I had forgotten a few things it said and also I skipped a long a little faster on my diet than it suggested. I am 25 days post op so we are close!

    How they lure us...

I hear ya, I have never been able to have one of something sinful. It always leads to a continual more more more ad night after night or after each meal. Even if I white knuckle it, the next day same thing till its gone and then on to something else. It is so aggravating so I don't even get started or pretend I can have a small piece. I will admit when I have had to bake and needed to taste test, I just taste and spit. It has been working and makes me not feel so limited. I choose to spit it out and that actually feels good. Thank you for sharing! Colleen

    Scared with increasing complications

You sound like you are deeply struggling with the whole process. I am sorry that you didn't get better service from your first doctor. It sounds like he/she really let you down. My suggestion is you start keeping an exact journal of what you eat, drink and when you exercise. Ten when you are ready start over with a new bariatric surgeon. You really need someone on your side who can guide you whatever direction is best for you. Please don't give up mentally or physically. Fight for yourself to get this worked out in a positive way.
  17. Yes! I am so happy to hear that ProudMary! This does get easier as you get into the all foods choices, or at least to me it is.

    getting closer ((:

I understand too, I knew I wanted this when I first heard about it and put the pedal to the medal and didn't want to slow down for anything. I am 24 days banded and very happy about it. Just keep going, you will get there but never soon enough. he he he
  19. I am having a hard time forcing myself to slow down while eating. Was this hard for anyone else?
  20. That is awesome! You go girl!

Two weeks po op doing great

38 pounds in two weeks? I did not think that it was possible to loose over two pounds everyday for 16 days. Seriously?

    Vacation After DS?

All good advice above. I bet you will be fine with precautions. just be prepared with drinks, food and don't be afraid to rest or whatever you need. Your worst thing would be over doing it so make sure that doesn't happen. I am not that far from Disney World in Orlando. Not sure how much you have been here but it is extremely humid and hot right now. Have a wonderful trip and good luck on your surgery, almost there!

    How many cabs/protein/fats ?

Funny how different we all are. Keeping constant track of every nutritional aspect of what I eat daily would put this girl over the edge. For me eating healthy foods in small amounts is my plan right now until I need it to change.
