1. Frustr8 and tanya27 ---yikes on the failed Nissen...fundoplication forhiatal hernia fix. And totally agree with you, Tanya.... the less procedures/surgeries, the better. Already 6 abdominal surgeries (3 open with complicated recoveries). Gastro to consult with my surgeon, surgeon has been with me through all of my surgeries... haven't talked to surgeon yet about the bypass, but I know he is not to keen on the idea of another abdominal surgery. Fun stuff.

Six surgeries! Oh my! This 3rd one is enough for me. Well I hope everything works out for you!!

  2. Actually my sleeve healed funky so correcting just the hernia wouldn’t “fix” the problem completely. But, was given the option to just fix the hernia and stay on meds anyway [emoji848]. Talk to the doctor and make sure they know what YOU want. It is your body that you have to live with. So, your reasoning was exactly why I chose the bypass. Why keep going through all these procedures???

  3. Thank you!...Wow! I hope all goes well for you too! During my barium swallow they only seen how nothing was going down so they sent me for the endoscopy where they found the hernia. I’m anxious to get rid of all these symptoms. The worst is waking up in the middle of the night running to the bathroom no matter how long I wait to lay down after eating/drinking anything. It’s the worst feeling when your stomach(or lack of) contracts. It feels as if my insides are collapsing. Good luck with everything and I hope you get your bypass.

  4. About 3 months out from gastric sleeve. Lost 43 lbs... But been having issues keeping food down. Now today was full on like flu but still just white foam and diarrhea. What should I do?!?

I'm 3 1/2 weeks out and last week felt drained. I couldn't keep much in and what little I could went right through me. I was weak and almost fainted a few times. I finally called my dr. They sent me to the ER for a work up. I was dehydrated and my potassium levels were low. This made my body ache as if I had the flu from the neck down. My head was clear except the dizziness i had. They pumped me full of liquids for 6hours between the saline and potassium. Go to the ER. Don't let it go for any longer. I hope you feel better soon.

  5. I had my surgery(sleeve) on 6/2, I have been cramping when I drink and eat Jello or pudding, not all of the time but majority of the time. Has anyone had or have this issue ?

I was sleeved 5/21. I had what felt like really strong hunger pangs every time I sipped my fluids. It went away after about 2 weeks. Just remember you had major surgery and your body is healing. I questioned it too. Bear with it, it'll subside before you know it. Just take it slow.

  6. I had band to sleeve revision on 5/21. Was 214lbs and now 199lbs.

I had a lot if spasms from surgery and find it hard to get all my fluids in, but it gets better by the day. Still on clears and Protein until 6/9. Spasms are starting to subside, thankfully. (I think the spasms is what is keeping me from getting my liquids, 'cause hurts every time I sip.)

I have those "OMG, what have I done to myself" moments every now and again. But I keep in mind all I've been through since being banded in 2008. Just keep in mind the bigger (smaller) picture.

Keep up the good work everyone!!

  7. I also had surgery on the 27th! Didn't have problems with gas but I still have pain on the bigger incision which for me is right in the middle of my abdomen. I have like a burning sensation and I get these sharp pains all the time. I guess it's the healing process. I still haven't had a bowel movement, I bought the milk of magnesium but don't know when to take it or how much of it. Any suggestions?

My doctor said if I didn't go after 3 days then take the milk of magnesia. So, if you still haven't had a bm, I would go ahead and take it.

  8. I have them too! I had my surgery 5/22 (8 days post op) and I also have hunger pangs. I feel like I'm hungry and after I have my Protein or Soup, I do fell full but then shortly after I feel the hunger pangs again! My doc said that liquids run through you a lot faster so just have Snacks like SF Jello, Popsicles in between... But I still feel the hunger pangs. I feel like my hunger is not satisfied, if that makes sense. I truly hope this is temporary!?!

Hopefully not much longer!! But no matter what I do (or don't do) they keep coming. I went to my post-op appt. this morning, my Dr. said it's more of a spasm & it'll subside as we heal and take it slow.

  9. Probably acid or your fresh incision getting a little tweaked. A lot of nerves were cut and it will take awhile for normal feeling you come back. (Try slicing your arm with a knife and see if it still stings after 3 days). As for acid, are you on PPI's or taking an antacid?

Thanks. I take a Prilosec every morning. I know a few people that had the sleeve done and none of them know the feeling I describe. One friend had it two weeks before me and said he was never hungry after surgery. And it's a little more pronounced than just a hunger pang, more like a starving pang.

  10. Thank you, as well! One of my coworker's had the band before me and it worked well for her. I assumed it would work the same for me. Since getting the band I know of a handful of people who also got it and it didn't work for them either. But, I have heard nothing but good things about the sleeve so I'm hoping for the best.
