    Anyone near Superior?

Hi- my first fill was at 7 weeks. My second fill was at 8 months. I am feeling like my second fill has brought me to a place I am comfortable. Congratulations to you! It is a long, slow journey but well worth it. Be aware that you need to be in the head game with the process, your head must always be in it. I didn't have support or knowledge from other banders in the beginning, but I have joined the chat room at this site and found great support from a great group. You CAN do this, just follow the rules, and realize it is a journey not a race. Congrats again! Mrs Pete
  3. Look at you losing all that weight, I am banking on still being able to come to see you in July, depending on the budget for travel I will keep you updated.

  4. Sorry I don't have your email address and I can't get logged back into the challenges site. We did have a nice Easter and I had been on vacation before that, so it is nice to relax a little before my events. Glad to hear your process is moving along now it won't be long, how cool is that for you. Keep in touch, Lorraine

    Hungry Newbie

My surgeon did not give me my first fill this past week because I too continue to lose an average of 2 pounds a week. He said that should be my goal. If I were to have a fill he felt I would lose weight faster and that is not the purpose, he feels slow and steady wins the race. Some people don't need a first fill for a while because the original size of the band used and proper placement holds things in place for a while. Cream soups are awesome, I use 2% milk not skim because of the higher protein. I use Breyers low carb (4g carb) ice cream when making my protein shakes instead of milk to make a creamy delicious tasting shake. My trouble comes from eating other foods too fast and probably not chewing enough, the pains stop me in my tracks. I like when people on this blog can be supportive and offer great ideas thanks everyone. Lorraine
  14. Lorraine banded 8/21 by Dr. Jay Lenz in Duluth, MN petersonmlndr@aol.com my email please share, I like advice and hope to find others who live close to buddy with over a bottle of water!
  15. Ask Dr. Malley if he grew up in Wisconsin, my sister went to school K -12 with a Steve Malley who went on to become a doctor, just curioius. I am from Northern WI, had my surgery 4 weeks ago in Duluth, MN anyone else have surgery in Duluth?
  16. Thanks Wendell for the quick response, I need to know what I did wrong so I don't do it again. About a week ago I had the pains and did talk to my surgeon we determined that the peanut butter I had eaten caused it. I figured peanut butter was high in protein not realizing it was sticking things shut, won't do that again, it's all a learning process. I too realize like others mention I need to slow down and chew, chew, chew. Some days I am hungry, some days I am not, anyone had that same experience? Good luck Docs Deb, I hope you have the highest success. I was not sorry one day since this experience began. I didn't feel like my ole self until about day 10 post op, but now I am on the other side, the "downward spiral". I want to learn how to add the ticker like others I ahve tried but I must be doing something wrong. Thanks everyone for the support I see! Lorraine
  17. Is there a chat room for folks to visit concerening these issues or is this it? I am new to this site, was banded 4 weeks ago, no fill yet. Scared to get fill. I don't have most of Alyse's problems but I do have some, the chest pains are the worse and I assume it is from eating too much or the wrong thing. I am learning as I go. I wanted to find a site to find others that can help me through this that have experience. I do want to hear the good the bad and the ugly. I am certain I made the right decision, I just need advice and support, Help, thanks. Lorraine

    Being banded on Monday

I am 47 and had my surgery 4 weeks ago. For a few days following your surgery you MAY even wonder if you made the right decision. But...IT IS worth it. I hurt for a few days, had trouble with trapped gas from anesthesia, and had no energy, but that quickly passes. I moved to real foods probably too quickly because I started feeling like a million bucks by 10 days post, and that was too soon. Everyone is different I think. My biggest mistake was peanut butter on toast. I figured peanut butter was high in protein, and was told taost was ok, not realizing when you add pnut butter on it, it makes the toast consistency gummy. I thought I had a heart attack and begged my husband to take me to the hospital so beware of dumb things like that. Don't rush real food. The protein shakes were a real plus when I chose Breyers low carb ice cream (4g carb) instead of milk to make my shakes, creamy & delicious.

    I am not 'fat' enough??!!!

I agree with giving them a new height when you go somewhere the first time, give them an inch shorter, they do not measure your height. Let them know you snore, even if you don't that is an indication you MIGHT have sleep apnea. I was a few pounds short of a 40 bmi and I ate ice cream all day for a week, gave them an inch shorter and wa law, I qualified. Had my surgery 4 weeks ago and I'm on my way to a new me. It's work but worth it.

    Newbie alert!

I think this message board is just what I needed. I had lap band surgery 4 weeks ago, and do not know anyone else who has had it. I do however know several ladies who have had gastric bypass. I really did my homework and easily decided banding was the best method for me. I am 5'7" and weighed 259 pounds on August 1, 2007. I began the pre-surgery Protein diet the next day and had to stick with it for 3 weeks due to scheduling of my surgery. As of Tuesay this past week I have lost 29 pounds since that August 1st weigh in. I do however need advice and support. Especially ideas of what to eat. I made a mistake last week and had Peanut Butter toast for Breakfast two days in a row and suffered tremendously before I figured out what caused the pain. Looking forward to advice.
