    band happy

Congrats Shawnee! I had my lapband the day after you! I jealous about the 9 lb weight loss! I actually gained 7 pounds (I'm 4 days out) since the day of surgery - I'm blaming it on the IV fluids though... Brenda
  3. Thanks for thinking of me Angeleyes! Had my surgery wednesday 9/26 - everything went well. Doc had great pain meds - I felt nothing - I got some injection every 6 hours and I was hooked up to a morphine pump that I could press if I needed more. Surgery was @ 11... but didn't get started till 11:20... was out by 1:00pm.. In recovery till 4:15. Then to a room. I was walking the halls @ 6 when my visitors came. Felt good, a little tired, but not hungry at all. I was mega thirsty though - My girlfriend gave me her lip smacker and boy did it taste GOOD! I wish I had eye drops - my eyes were very dry. Was lovin' those ice chips. After company left, I fell asleep. Wide awake @ 2:30 a.m. - started roaming the halls again. I have NOT had any of the shoulder gas pain and I'm assuming it's because I walked alot?? I do feel bloated still though. Weighed myself when I got home from the hospital and I was UP 7 lbs!!! I attribute that to all the IV fluids they've given me - because I certainly haven't EATEN anything! Just clear fluids. My first post-op visit is wednesday. Hope to be put on puree foods, but he did say he wanted Clear liquids for TWO weeks... boohoo... He is allowing me to eat a bariatric Protein shake mixed with Water these 2 weeks though. Been laying low at home trying to give my body the rest it needs to heal. I have walked up and down my street a couple times (trying to stave off those blood clots!). Can't wait to be able to go back to the gym. Doctor said no lifting over 14 lbs for 2 weeks. He said walk whenever I want though and I could drive as soon as I wean off the pain meds (which I am doing - Haven't taken ANY today yet!)... Was sent home with a liquid percocet. It's helpful when I go to bed - getting in and out of bed is when I feel some discomfort - but it isn't bad. I think I was expecting it to be a lot worse! Can't wait to get a skinny latte from Dunkin' Donuts!!!! (doc said it was ok)... Good luck everyone - and if I can be of any help feel free to email me! I am SOOOOOOOOO happy I've had this done, and can't wait until I start seeing the results! (((hugs))) to all you Sept bandsters - Here's TO THE NINES!!! (Or what name did we end up being??) Love, Brenda Surgeon - Dr. Sandor, Winchester Hospital, MA

    Pre-op Lap Band Shopping List

Hi everyone and good luck on your surgeries. I just had my surgery wednesday, and one thing I couldn't do without - a great tasting, moisturizing lip balm/gloss. I actually borrowed one from a visitor of mine and she let me keep it! I also would put a little vaseline on my teeth to keep my lips from sticking (I was SOOO dry after the operation). Brenda

    Massachusetts Bandsters Chat

Hey everyone, Was led to this site last week and I'm very thankful for all you bandsters and to-be banded bandsters for all the information and support that's here. I am having my surgery in 2 days (wednesday 9/26) and I wish I found this site much sooner. I chose to go to the local hospital in Winchester, and my surgeon is Dr. Sandor. He is such a compassionate surgeon and has a wonderful bedside manner. (And he specializes in laporoscopic surgeries). Has anyone had him? At the next support group I go to, I will definitely share this website with everyone. The boards will definitely ease any concerns I may have after surgery too. I volunteered to drive some friends to Logan 8 days out of surgery - after reading the previous posts - I'm thinking maybe I should tell them to have an alternate ride? My surgeon restricted driving for 1 week - I thought it was just so the airbag didn't deploy in the case of an accident... but now I'm having second thoughts. It's only a 20 -25 minute drive each way and I would NOT be picking up their bags. Good luck everyone. Brenda
  6. Hi Angeleyes! I also live in Mass! I'm having mine done wednesday @ Winchester Hospital. My girlfriend that had it done in August kept telling me she couldn't feel the "full feeling" for a while either. She didn't actually feel any difference until she had her 1st fill which was a month later. So hang in there - everything I read about the weightloss is much slower than the gastric bypass. They say to expect 1-2 lbs a week which is a nice healthy way to loose. I'm hoping if I can keep walking and be a gym rat I'll stay ahead of all the loose skin. Are you on a liquid diet now? or mush food? Brenda
  7. I like To the nines - It implies looking our best (she's dressed "to the nines") It's like tipping a hat, or raising a glass of champagne everytime I hear it - and saying, "Here's to the NINES" (meaning "CHEERS to all you wonderful people having surgery in the NINTH month of September). Just has a nice ring to it.... Brenda

    Any September bandsters out there???

Hey Kellymovingon - good luck monday - let me know how it goes! I see we are similar ages (I didn't post mine originally) - love to hear how your progress is doing - Are you on a pre-op diet? My doc wants 2 meals liquid/day and 1 regular meal. I had a few parties to go to, and I was so surprised how I was able to not snack! I didn't sit AT the table where all the food was (which was where I normally would be). I just mingled everywhere else. Getting into the mindset of not "what can I eat now" has been half the battle. I can't wait to surprise people at my weightloss during the holidays this year!! Good luck to everyone else getting banded next week : Kellymovinon, legalmandy,supermamaof4,marywalker20,rachel1972,libby,chelle, and say a prayer for me too - luv2laugh.... Brenda surgery date 9/26 - gettin' nervous!

Getting Banded on Sept. 26 th.

Hey Christina, I share the same lap band date as you - getting a little nervous now that it's right around the corner. I'm getting mine done in Winchester, MA and Dr. Sandor is my surgeon (I love him!). I'm on liquid diet right now, but have been eating some food (he said I could eat 1 meal/day). Are you on a special diet prior to the surgery? Brenda
  13. I just heard of this site from a relative and wish I had found it sooner. I'm due for my lap band THIS WEDNESDAY, the 26th of September. I am getting a little nervous, but also quite excited! Would love to talk to people that are also going in around the same date - Brenda
