  1. Hello I'm New to this site and the sleeve I had my surgery on July 1 2014 I have lost 13 pds I was 268 the day if surgery and I'm currently 255.....honestly I have been nervous because it just seems like im not really loosing any weight

you appear to be doing great. My surgery was July 1 also. I was 178.5 on the day of surgery. As of today, I'm 173.4.

  2. Week 3 My date was 7/2. I'm wondering what some other folks from the first week of July are able to eat. I'm still prettying on liquids. I am having some Greek yogurt and cottage cheese. I haven't ventured past that. So what are you guys eating for your 3rd week that sits well?

I had my surgery July 1. As of now, I'm having Greek yogurt, all types of Soup, Water and Protein Shakes. Like you, I feel my sleeve gets empty fast. I must get that water in when this happens instead of eating more.

  3. Well, my 1st week post op i had a 2 fries and felt guilty. I chewed some pizza just for the taste but didn't swallow it. The point is, we all are going to make mistakes because of the temptation when we see food. Just stay strong and things will be ok. I'm at 20 days Post Op and I'm on soft foods for another week then regular foods, here i come! Lol. Once u get to the pureed stage and can eat grits and oatmeal, you'll feel much better. Stay on track from now on and u won't even think about eating other food. You'll be at week 4 and eating regular foods before u know it! Good Luckddc4dddc4d

thanks! I needed to read this. I was beginning to think that I was the ONLY one on this entire forum that has ever messed up. I'm back on track.

  4. We all make mistakes. However, I commend you for acknowledging what you did in a public forum. We all can learn from this and hopefully move on. Keep your eye on the prize and continue to pray. This will surely get easier as time goes on. And with the support of this site, we can all succeed. I love how we all embrace one another and support each other.

    thanks for the positive support.

  5. Home, I'm truly glad you've found the support here you were looking for and happy you're feeling more optimistic and doing better now. I misinterpreted your earlier posts as meaning that you had not been told by your surgeon what to eat (and what not to eat) at various points post-surgery.

not was not the case at all. In my opinion, I had a great surgeon in puerto vallarta with a nutritionist who gave me all the info I needed for post op. The post was written bc I had made some mess ups and I needed support from you guys to put me back on track so I wouldn't sink. My apologies for any misunderstandings.

  6. Actually, as I understand it, those who go to Mexico don't have any hoops to jump through at all (behaviorally or educationally) -- they do varying versions (some quite minimal) of pre-op diets to shrink the liver, and then are sent on their way with some printouts. At least that's how understand it. If I'm wrong, please correct my misinformation.

this thread was written not to criticize what happens when you have surgery in Mexico. I mentioned that surgery was in Mexico bc I do not go for follow up visits there. You make it sound like having surgery there is a joke. The point I was making was that I have suffered some shortcomings with post op. As mentioned, i drink Protein Shakes, take Vitamins, and eat Soup. However, one day I did eat 2 nacho/cheeses off my daughters plate. I ate 3 fries once. I had a piece of my hubby's wrap. I could have done the same thing if I had surgery in Texas. I appreciate support to keep me focused. I tested the waters. Yes, I did. However, I'm sure I'm not the only one who has. I just wanted support from you guys to get me back on track.

  7. Don't worry about what you've done, concentrate on what you are going to do from today forward. That was always one of my downfalls when dieting- if I cheated, I felt like since I'd already blown it, I might as well eat whatever I wanted. Every day is a fresh start, do your best and take it one day at a time. That being said, do be careful not to damage your sleeve. When I am tempted, I think about having to go through all that pain again if I develop a leak and they have to go back in- ugh!

thanks so much for the kind words and great advice. Today after I posted that thread, i prayed, went to church, and am not focused on doing well.

  8. The book that was written for Sleeve surgery is very good. You don't have to buy the book (I did and glad I did that) because you can download the chapters you want right here on Bariatric Pal. I suggest you do this. It's a wealth of information & will give you the stages you should be at and what kind of food you should be eating. I combined the info in this book with what my surgeon & NUT gave me & have done really well - except for the stalls. Those suck. Good advice about finding a doctor that will work with you on this surgery. I can't imagine not having a doctor follow your progress. Good luck with your Sleeve. I'm soooooo glad I did this.

thanks! Where can I find the book on here?

  9. why would you want to risk your new tummy over junk...I dont want to sound ugly but Im sure you had to go thru everything we all did to even qualify for this surgery. ...the protocol? eating junk like that is what got us in this situation of needing medical help. ur tummy is very sensitive right now sweetie an needs babyd...I am 5 days postop an every lil sip I take my tummy / esophagus goes into bad spasms...I cant even think about eating on them foods you mentioned. if your having that kind of relapse in emotional thinking now how do you think your going to do 6 months or a yr from now with stearing towards those foods? do you have family support around you? are you able to get into therapy maybe to talk about why you chose to cheat with these foods? I sure hope you can get refocused it hasnt been that long for you...keep us posted...so we can see how your doing. :)and the Vitamins an meds...I have to split mine an I have also changed to chewable soft Gummy multi and calcium chews. my other meds I have to break up ...theres only one I take whole which is my script nexium. hang in there you can do this!! (((hugs))) best wishes :)....there is all kinds of differant forums on this site make use of them very very formative an helpful!

you are absolutely right. I appreciate your advice and will learn and grow from this. I'm so thankful for a caring support group.

  10. holy crap....As one that has had every difficulty in the book except dying..And I came close to that you don't want any complications hun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Your sleeve is raw inside. It cannot handle any real food at this time. Not only is it swollen and raw but the staples are at risk of being torn free. There are so many posts on here that can give you guidelines on what to do and what not to do right now in this part of your journey.

yes! I needed to read this. I need to stay on this forum reading like I was doing pre surgery. Thanks so much for your testimony. I haven't gone completely off the deep end but I needed to make a thread before I did.

  11. I was self-pay, too, so I traveled for my surgery. I found a local doctor to support me for my post-op visits. She treats me as if she performed the surgery for me - I pay for these visits out of my pocket. Are you able to get access to a local surgeon or follow ups with your doctor in Mexico? Eating off plan (your surgeon should have provided guidelines even if there isn't any follow up), is dangerous. You could hurt yourself. Your stomach is still healing - please treat it with care. You paid a lot of money for that tummy - don't waste this opportunity and risk your help for a few bites of food.< /p>

he provided guidelines. I really needed to post this so that I could get back on track. Thanks for keeping me focused!

  12. I am 13 days post op and I feel I need help. My surgery was July 1 in puerto vallarta mexico. Needless to say, there is no post op follow up visits. I feel there is no accountability• I did great on pre op....no cheating at all. However, I feel I am not doing right post op. Twice a day, I use my nutri bullet to blend my Premier Protein shake with strawberries. I take all my Vitamins whole( no chewable or liquids). Vitamins: Biotin, Calcium, Multivitamin, Vitamin d3, and B12. I usually have some type of cream soup.... But I have once had nachos/cheese, small piece of chicken wrap, fries, and veggies chips. Other than cramps after eating, I feel ok. Advice!

  13. Please someone help am give days from surgery and I get a sharp pain in my stomach that travels to my chest and spreads there, it's just for 3 seconds or so, has anyone experiences anything similar am a little worried and scared!!

are they like cramps? I get those feelings on my left side right after I drink a shake. I take my gas and acid meds and feel better.

  14. Hi! I was sleeved on July 1 in puerto vallarta mexico as a self pay. At the time of surgery, my BMI was. 34.86. I'm short (5.0) and carry my weight in the mid section. I am happy to report that I had zero complications from surgery. I woke up, walked around, and felt pretty good. I spent additional days in PV and was able to do a lot of walking with my family with no problems at all. I started full liquids today and had cream of broccoli Soup which was yummy. I also started my Premier Protein shakes.

  15. Hi low BMIs! I just had my surgery July 1. Day of surgery, my BMI was. 34.86. I had the sleeve and was afraid of complications. I am happy to report, zero complications for me. I felt really good after surgery. I even walked around. I have only really experienced some gas pains. I feel so blessed.
