  1. im sorry that that happenned, sometimes people are really happy for you, but he should have kept his mouth shut, that was very disrespectful....just go on, as usual, people generally dont even know what the heck a lap band is.....let alone how it works.....if anyone ever, ever! questions your weight loss, or your progress, and is asking how much you have lost, or how long it is going to take.....Tell them you have a lap band and it varies between each individual that has one, and that you are working just to be healthy.....people are so snoopy, jealous, and plain stupid.....just do you own thing, pretty soon they forget you even have one, and go about finding something else to stick their noses into!

    good luck.....i have been there!!!

  2. slow loosers, dont ever give up the good fight...comming up on my year anniversary...down 50 pounds, thought that it would be way more, but i will take it! Slower than most with the band, but feeling just great, this next year is a focus on excercize and another 30 pounds...i am a turtle, but will finish this race!!!!!

  3. I dxdo not know how long ago that you have posted this, but you will have all of us to support you! This is your life, and your body, and it looks like if you wait for everyone to give you premission to have the lap band, you may need to loose 100 pounds!!!!! do not wait, do not hesitate, and do not listen to anyone, especially family and friends that love you....often they are scared for you, and afraid that you will fail again at the weight loss, and sometimes there is jelousy...yes, even among family members!!!! You are an adult that deserves to live a better, healthier life...so you can do what ever you like when it comes to your own body, guess what? I finally realized this myself, i have lost almost 50 pounds, still loosing, and getting healthier everyday...for those around me, they no longer have one word to say about it, except WOW!!!!!!!!!

    Good luck!

  4. Lisa....go with the early surgery, really!!!!! you will be just fine. I fly for a living, and i was on a plane trveling 5 days after my surgery! My port incision ws just a teeny bit tender, but i did just great...There is nothing to be scared of as far as complications...there aren't many people that have them. it is up to you, but i vote, to go for it!!!!!

    hugs/j

  5. yep, that is true! some people need just the smallest restriction...like me! i have barely 1cc in my band, and it does the job very well! The councelor at the Doc's I visit, said that i was a little unusual, but not unheard of..another patient has lost over 100 pounds with only 2 fills! so we are all different! We just have to pay attention to our bodies, and TRY not to compare ourselves with each other too much!!! :blushing:

  6. the scale was not moving for me either.....i did NOT need another fill, in fact, i got a DE-FILL....i was not hungry either, and was getting stuck way too often, i just was not getting enough calories down, my body was hanging onto every pound...now after a week, i am seeing the scale move, 1 pound down, in about 3 days! Sometimes we think the solution is a fill, when in reality we are not consuming enough food!!!! hard to belive for some of us hard-core dieters!!! good luck!

  7. BIOTIN!!!!! i agree totally. I have waist length hair, and experiencing Hair loss, now, after a month on Biotin, everything is back to normal, also there are a few shampoos out there that contain Biotin.....my favorite thing to use daily, is INFUSIUM... clear liquid, and i massage into my scalp every night..it is just like Water, leaves no sticky residue, and it is really greatfor your hair.....especially growth!!!!! i have used it for over 10 years, you can buy it at the grocery store, or any drug store...awesome!!!!!

  8. Well, i just went and got fitted for a real bra...one that really fits! Not the Victoria Secret pretty, but cheap crap, either. Guess what , my size was soooo off! I always thought that i wore a 38 D... No, after being fitted properly by a pro, i found out that i wear a 36E!!! no more muffin top, spilling over the sides, arm-pit boobie...a very flattering, supportive and very comfy bra. I now look like i have a nice bustline, sitting way higher, and sort of seperated, instead of just a big shelf sitting there...! It looks like i have lost another 15 pounds...what a difference.

so if anyone thinks that they look too top heavy, go get a fitting, and be as pleasantly suprised as i was!!!!!

  9. nope, i wore them as a teenager, micro-mini's.....I swore that if i lost all this weight, i would not try to look 21....that older woman, that tries too hard to look like her daughter...? speaking of daughter....best jean in the world? Not My Daughters Jeans....( yep thats the name) Tummy Tuck jeans.....soooo flattering, slimming and wow!!!! what they do for your butt!!!!!

much better than a mini skirt....for me...love you guys

    you keep me smiling...

  10. As Far As I Know, And I Have Had About 8 Surgeries On My Tummy, They Wrap Sheets And Blankets Around The Areas That They Will Not Be Working On, Only Exposing What They Need To Work On...it Has Something To Do With Being Sterile And Keeping Germs Out, So Dont Freak, They Are Not Interested In Your Nakedness....they Have Seen It All Before.!!

  11. OMG that is sooooo funny...yes same thing is happenning to me....my feet are also shorter, my pants longer....because the fat at the inner thigh, and hips isnt pulling them up..my sides are shrinking causing the pants to hang...'" hangin loose!!!!!!!" ...i got a new bra today...guess what? i spent some money and actually got fitted by a specialist....i am not a 38 dd....i am a 36 E ....go figure.....!!!! and it has mad a BIG difference in my appearance!!!

  12. soreness? a 4, for about 4 hours, then a 3......for a day, then down to a 1 ....i had more itching, around my steri strips, than soreness.....I know that if you have never had any kind os surgery before it can be scarey......the absolute worst thing for me, after surgery, is the vaseline that they put on your eyelids.....it feels yuckie, and i cant wait to wipe it off!!!!! that is what i always think about, with everything that you go thru, it is the vasaline....so people really focus on different things...the pain, is not anything what you would think, it is done laproscopic (spelling) so it is nothing like surgery....dont be scared, it is easier than going to the dentist!!!! how's that for a comparason??????

  13. please tell us about the comments you have recieved so far on your weight loss. When people really started noticing, or not. how did you handle them, or did you? W ho you told, and who you didnt.

i am down 38 pounds, someone finally asked me if i had lost "a little " weight...i told them....yes "just a little" .....people can be jerks!

  14. I want to wake up every morning, and jump out of bed, truely welcoming the new day without the horrible thoughts about my huge clothes, my huge image in the mirror, the lastest diet i am on....AGAIN...

I want my grandchildren to be able to put their arms all the way around me when they hug me.

i want to go into my closet, and pick anything out that i feel like wearing for the day.

i want SELF VALIDATION!!!! I do not need compliments, comments, remarks on how great i look. I want to be able to feel it in my own heart for once!!!!

I want to salsa!!!!!! all night long!!!!

  15. that is the oldest story of names, i have heard of kids named after the old Jello thing, so many times.....but the worst, is a girlfriend, back in high school...Heather Hadcock.....and to add to the horror, my college roomie...last name...COCKENBUSH..... for real!!!!!

  16. After many years of experience, of loosing my 30+ pounds and re-gainning it back, how do i break thru that mentality that i have ingrated into my brain? I am finding it so discouraging to get on the scale and seeing only 1/2 pound or even less gone, it feels just like "old times" ....this must be a point of discouragement for a lot of banders, i have been here so many times, i can't count them!

have any of you reached this plateau, and have found it to be the most difficult to break thru, because of past experience. The band is working for me, but my brain is frazzled!!!!!

    words of wisdome, welcome!!!:unsure::tea:

  17. Trust me, there are not enough people out there that are really that interested in inspiration, or help. People will really act funny about the band issue, unless they love you, and are your faamily-support group. All of the sudden, they want to know how many pounds you have lost every day, what and how much you eat, does it hurt? and you 'TOOK THE EASY WAY OUT" why you just didnt do it on your own, get more excercize...on and on...I think you should NOT tell one person....word travels very fast, and it isnt always positive...gradually tell people if they show genuine interest in your weight loss.....other wise, keep it to yourself, because it is an intimate issue....just keep it in your family. I told family members only, and it is the best decision i could have made.....i have told a total of 3 other people, because they showed real concern, and support, and wanted to ask me about possibly getting it done themselves.

good luck with your choice.....its a hard one!
