  1. Also look down at the bottom of this site on the Internet and get the book. "The BIG Book On The Gastric Bypass". It's a great read and it answers nearly everything you can think of about pre and post op surgery.
  2. Congratulations ForeverFat. I'm with you on the surgery date. I bet I beat you to the 100 pounds lost though. Best of luck with your weight loss journey.
  3. Has time been flying by. I'm still learning my new pouch. I still get Diarrhea about twice a month from to much sugar or fat. I have a very low tolerance to both and I don't always see the trouble coming. Other than that I feel great. My pants sizes are shooting down so fast I have only one pair to wear. I just went under 200 pounds, which to me was a milestone. I love the changes and I see I carry myself proudly. I hope everyone else is seeing the same thing I am and the best of luck in reaching you goal.
  4. Burping is usually caused by air so maybe you're somehow taking air in someway. See if there's something you're doing and if not check with your doctor.

    To hospital or not? Help

I agree with esskay77 that you should go but call your doctor first to get their opinion. Best of luck and let us know the outcome.
  6. Bellabloom, I'm sorry I was hard on you on the last post. I'm seeing more of your post around here and I understand you better. You talk about food choices and how quickly you get bored with something. I saw something on another post a while back about this same subject that tweaked my interest. It was talking about natural skinny people and what they eat. The observer noted that their main choice of foods wasn't fanciful but rather bland. I've taken this approach to my eating habits. My main diet is chicken and fish. The chicken is mostly out of the can. I eat it straight like that or make a salad with relish, mustard, fat free mayo and sometimes a few crackers. The fish is tuna out if the can or bag and I also make a salad like the chicken. I also have baked fish where I cook a bag of Tilapia for the week. I'll soon be doing chicken breast the same way. Eating for me is just something I have to do now and this is how I approach it. To me any perpetration process just prolongs the thought of eating food and is counterproductive. I hope this helps you out and sorry again. Best of luck to you.
  7. My first though after reading this was that you're way to early to be eating beef stew. If you're progress is that far along how was this prepared? If the beef is to tough or fatty you'll have problems. I'm one of the ones that can't eat beef and you may be too. Coffee at five weeks??? Kind of strong for a new pouch. That's your choice though, but I would wait. I also don't do starchy foods like the potatoes you had. But again that's your choice and that alone wasn't what caused your stomach pain. You couldn't of been on solids long so you may need to go back a step and eat soft foods for a day or two. I suggest you be more careful with your new pouch. You're still healing.

    Smoking weed before surgery

I see you've posted this in several places. Smoking (whatever it is) isn't advisable with WLS.

    Less activity

Sorry to jump in here but I was perusing the various logs, saw this and had to respond. I'm 61 and over on the RNY side so I do have something in common with ya'll. That said, I sometimes think about survivalist actions too and what would happen if I ran out of vitamins. Maybe I need to stock up on all of them just in case. I haven't acted on any of this but it's strange how my WLS has consumed my every thought and action. I hope you and everyone else here has great success in this journey we chose.
  11. I had type II and for me I was right after the surgery.

Another example of how much our taste differ. I like the peanut butter flavor but have since changed to caramel. Yum, yum

    Creeps at the gym

I'm sorry this is happening to you. God, I'm a male and have done just as bad as what you say. I'm been thinking about this topic for a few days and what I would say to you. I think telling the person up front will stop it from happening again from that person. But then it'll probably happen again from someone else. Telling management will get the same results. There should be separate gyms for males and females but we can't all have access to them. You shouldn't have to change your routine because of some weirdo but if you went at a different time when there was a lower cliental or perhaps you could have a buddy with you. We males are asses sometimes.

    Not Enough Calories

I'm five months out and have been in a stall for a month. The weight flew off the first four months. I tried it all, increased intake, increased protein, increased exercise. Then turned it back around. I'm holding now at around 700 cal and around 100 protein? I go for a follow up this week and plan to talk to the Nut about it. I honestly just don't know. It just hit me, maybe if I go back to just liquids for a few days it will kick start something. Well, I guess instead of doing something new let's see what the Nut says.

    Weight loss stall...?

Just stick to your plan and the pounds will start going down again. I ran into a stall that lasted a month ana I played with everything I could to start it but nothing worked. I found out it just happens. Best to you.

    Tomatoes and/or Fruit

Sure you can have fruits. You just have to be careful about the sugar content or really the glycemic level. Watermelon and grapes are some that are high. I didn't have a clue until I ate watermelon andI got the dumps. As for tomatoes, yes and enjoy. Just remember protein first.

    Panera bread or subway

I wish I could have chili. I love it but I get dumping. I think it has to be the sugar content being to high for my pouch.
  21. Hi Bellabloom, I just saw this and wanted to answer your questions but I at first couldn't understand them by your personal status. I saw you posted that you had gastric bypass in Dec so you should be in phase 2 or 3. Now about your questions: Has anyone discussed this with their surgeon as to why it is so bad? I like very spicy and salty food, and I find it very difficult not to take a couple small sips of Water after eating. I swish it around in my mouth, to take out the taste, two sips at most. I have never had dumping. My NUT and nurse told me not to drink 30 to 45 minutes after eating so the food will stay in your pouch enough time to get that full feeling. If you drink before then you'll only get hungry sooner. As to you saying I never had dumping, I really hope you can say that in the months to come but with gastric bypass it's almost a given you will. Does anyone else feel like they need to do this? Yes, and we all better if we want a successful outcome. And what if your food is a liquid like soup? Doesn't that count as eating and drinking? liquids don't hang around your pouch long and go to your water intake for the day. Now if your soup has solids in it then you should treat it as a food and not drink until 30 to 45 minutes later. Has anyone been told eating and drinking at the same time will stretch out ones stomach? No, not that I recall. Just that eating to much will. I'm worried but I can't seem to stop. Exactly how long before and after eating am I supposed to wait?? 30 to 45 minutes. Also I just can't stop eating fast!!!! It's so hard. Eating fast, lightning fast, is such a huge habit for me. After I had kids it only got worse. I forget or I try and slow down and it's so hard. I find eating super boring and tedious and sometimes I just want to get it over. Sometimes the food tastes so darn good I just have to keep eating it!!! Anyone else have any advice for me? Try, try, try, to chew, chew, chew. Keep every bite of food in your month as long as it taste good then swallow. Now that you've had the surgery you should be very full quickly with a pain in your chest when you eat to fast or to much.

Dumping, it's real and it stinks

Watermelon is one of the fruits that will give you dumping.
