It can't be just me
catdaddy replied to newlanashegog's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I see you said I hate sipping ice cold water. I don't like ice cold water either and never drink it, It's always room temperature. And something else, I never drink plan water, don't like that too. I have to mix it up with something and I use an assortment of sugar free flavors to do it. There's dozens of them out there and you're sure to find a taste you like. -
Jacileegs, congratulations. Looking good!!!????

Hi Naomi and welcome to the losers club.

Death: about 1 in every 200 patients dies as the result of bariatric surgery.
catdaddy replied to RobinL123's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This isn't an answer to your question but I have to tell you a story about this subject. I did the research and knew the risk. I even went and checked out my doctor's name on the Internet and found information about him. So anyway, my wife and I are at my first appointment and she only knows that I'm having weight loss surgery but nothing else about it. So the doctor comes in and introduces himself and then says, " I've killed 5 people". I immediately looked over at my wife thinking she was going to freak out. Surprisingly she held a straight face. He went on the explain how everything transpired and his history with weight loss surgery. By the end of the interview he'd win over our hearts and mainly our trust. But what a way to introduce yourself to new patients. -

Ask him/her. My doctor told me and it was the first sentence out of his mouth. -

Ah come on guys, all surgeries have risk. -
I'm just resolved to the fact I dump. I know if I eat anything that has a sugar or fat content of over 6 grams I will dump. So I live with it. I at least haven't had a accident in public.

Heavy, cement feeling in body
catdaddy replied to Elisha1015's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I saw that it's been almost a week since you talked about this heaviness in your legs. Have you called your doctor about it? I think a week with a strange feeling should be justification enough to warrant a call. -
Is it just straight caffeine or are you jazzing it up? I wonder because I'm drinking coffee now and I get dumping if there's to much cream in it. Not related to low sugar so do you know why your sugar drops? If it's not to personal, how's your weight now? I ask because you were so young when you had the surgery that you may not of had the benefit of having a nutritionist to help guide your eating. The stats show we're all susceptible to weight gain after a period of time, and if you have gained what's your thoughts about correcting it? Sorry for all the questions but when I started this journey I was full steam ahead and now that I know I'll be successful in the weight loss I'm looking at what to expect or try to prevent from happening in my future. Thanks for sharing your wisdom and experience.

Hi vegas2013, I consider myself a dumper. I at least know when it's coming so I've haven't had any embarrassing moments. Have you had the sleeve done yet or are you still undecided?
-
Hi Plynnab, glad you're here. There's a lot to offer on the site. Your experience will add to what we want and need to know about our future in Gastric Bypass. First question, how's your blood sugar run?
-
I'm closely watching this subject too. Some older RNY patients are aware of this and talked about it here early last year. There's more that can be found on the Internet if you look it up. But basically we have a chance of becoming hypoglycemic because of the surgery. A saw one of our WLS buddies on this site recommend carrying glucose tablets for those times when your sugar drops. I'm still way to early for it to happen to me but I'm aware it could some day.

calorie goals early on?
catdaddy replied to Inizio's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
According to my WLS guidance there's no limit. It just says aim to get you 60 grams of protein in and 64 ounces of water. -
Horrible stomach cramping pain!
catdaddy replied to bellabloom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I,like everyone else here just wants you to get well. When I had my emergency after surgery I went to the nearest er and it was over 100 miles from my surgery hospital. Insurance paid for the medical transport to my surgery hospital and the following four days in ICU. At the time it was a big deal, I was bleeding internally, but I always had the feeling I was going to be ok, you will too. -
Hi Robin, I decided 7 months out from when I wanted the surgery and then everything I did after that was going to that goal. I quiet smoking at month one, and started every step my insurance needed me to do to get the surgery. I remember fondly, going out to different places to eat foods I expected to never to eat again. And I remember the last drink of alcohol I had at my parents house. That said, if you're not ready for this procedure then don't, it's ok? Only you can decide that and no one here will look at you different. I think your 10% complications is a little high by even so for some of us it's a worthy risk. As for getting to skinny, it's rare but it does happen. It's not something to stress about. Best of luck to you and please keep us in mind what ever you do.

Stalled and depressed

I think, by what you said, you already know what you're doing wrong and where to correct it. I rarely work out at this time and I'm 5 months out and 85 pounds down since surgery. I do track every drop of food that goes in and I make it all health. Best of luck to you. -

Jkpizanos, sorry to hear you haven't got to many responses from your post. I'm happy for you and your decision to go with Gastric Bypass. Mine was done last Aug and I'm ecstatic with the results. I had mine done up in Gainesville from you but I live up in Valdosta GA. There has to be more WLS patients down there but you just haven't heard from them yet. Best of luck and keep us updated with your progress. By the way, if you haven't, join January 2015 Monthly Gastric Bypass Surgery Support Groups on this site. They are your buddies in your journey. -

I buy the fillet packages and each one comes out to about 2 oz each. I bake them all in a pan with liberal seasoning. After that they all go into a sealed container in the refrigerator. When I want to eat I just go in and grab one. They taste great and is it ever simple to do. -
Wow, that's great.
