Hey all! I haven't posted since the very early days out...I was sleeved on 10/2/13 at 273 pounds. I reached goal in 9.5 months which was 159 pounds which would put me at a normal bmi. At about 8 months post op I started running. That was a game changer! I have since completed a triathlon, a 5k, 2 10ks, 4 half marathons, and on January 25th, 2015 I became a marathoner! I went on to lose and additional 20 pounds and I've been maintaining 20 pounds below goal ever since. From a size 22/24 to a size 2/4. I eat clean and train hard! I am really living my best life now!

Congratulations on your success! You look fabulous!

  2. Congratulations Miss Brown!!!

Thank you!!! It feels so good to have reached goal. I'm going to try to lose another 10 pounds.

Congratulations are also in order for you. This site is very helpful and people like you have made me continue to keep going at times when I wanted to give up.

  3. I had been obese since I had my first son at the age of 18. I would lose weight and then gain it. When I was 24 years old I wanted to get RNY but then I got really scared and didn't go through with it. 2001 I lost my mother to Breast CANCER. she was only 40 years old. She left 5 kids behind 2 were under age. I was able to get custody of one of my brothers but the youngest one his father sent him to Dominican Republic. We lost contact with him. I was depressed I was 22 years old with 2 kids of my own and my brother. Living at my in laws house. I just started to eat so much.. My weight just started to go up.. 2005 I decided to try to lose weight. I was eating right and exercising. I lost weight but not what I needed to lose. a year later i got pregnant with my 3 baby. Of course I gain all the weight and more. I was so depress but I couldn't stop myself I just kept on eating the wrong food. On 2011 around September or October I started researching weight loss surgery. I wasn't sure if my insurance would cover it. Somehow I got to the website of the New York bariatric group. I asked some questions. They answered me right away. He asked me questions and said I was a good candidate for weight loss surgery. He asked me if I wanted to go in to speak to a surgeon. I said sure they gave me an appointment for November. I meet my surgeon and they did a couple of test. He told me that I can get surgery. He explained to me the 3 different one that the insurance covers. I decided to get sleeved. By feb. 2012 I had seen all the doctors and got clearance from all. I went to see the surgeon and decided to get surgery March 6, 2012. I had my sleeve it was a little rough the first month but it was the best decision. In a year and 8 months after I was able to renew my vows. Before surgery I wore a size 22-24 the day of my wedding my wedding dress was a size 4. I went from weighing 278-123. I was really thin I asked my surgeon if I can gain 15-20 pounds. He said to becareful but we kept tracking everything to make sure my weight gain wouldn't get out of control. While tracking that I was having a lot acid reflux problems since 3 months after I was sleeved. My surgeon did a hiatal hernia repair 02/2013 to see if I would get some relief but it didn't work. So January 26, 2015 my surgeon decide to revised my sleeve to a RNY. Now I am recovering from my RNY. I feel so much better. I got immediate relief of acid after RNY also lost 12 pounds from the 20 i gained. I feel great attachicon.gif ImageUploadedByBariatricPal1423054101.485824.jpgattachicon.gif ImageUploadedByBariatricPal1423055379.879549.jpg

You look awesome! Congratulations on the weight loss and the renewing of your vows ????????

  4. As of 2/6/14 I will be at one year.. yahooo!!!

    Gastric Bypass

    Starting weight: 243lbs

    Current weight: 133 lbs

This year has been a roller coaster with many ups and downs along the way. To say this journey was the "easy way out" would be so wrong. I've cried, vomited, stressed that I wasn't losing weight as quickly as others (which was way to harsh on myself). I have forced myself to eat then turn around a few days later and remind myself not to eat too much food. I have obsessed over drinking fluids or having bowel movements. ( sorry if that's too graphic for some of you). I have driven my dear sweet supportive husband crazy with my emotions. I'm not perfect with following the doctors schedule plan of eating, but I follow what my new pouch allows. I allowed myself a treat here and there and maybe I enjoyed it but most of the time I have paid the price for doing so.

I have learned to Celebrate the non surgery victories and stop focusing on that scale. I am happy and healthy for the first time in Twenty-five years. I have no regrets having this surgery other than not doing it sooner.

My true journey is still to come as I approach the maintenance phase (I still need to lose another thirteen pounds)

I know I will make mistakes, but that's ok as long as I learn from them.

1st picture is of me on the day of surgery.

2nd picture is a week ago

Congratulations on your awesome transformation! Love the dress. Keep up the great work!

Do you have any skin issues?

  5. I'm in for the Easter Challenge. Hopefully I will be able to make it to my surgeon's goal of 130 pounds. April 6 is my 1 year doctor appt. my 1 year anniversary is April 8th so I will be ecstatic if I reach goal by then.

Thanks so much Susan for doing this. It really keeps me accountable.
