    That's cheating!

I love Kaylee's response about asking those who say it's cheating to tell why it's cheating. We still have to eat right and exercise just the same as those who supposedly "aren't cheating." It's actually more difficult for us now because we have more eating restrictions to adhere to than someone who hasn't had wls. So believe me when I say it's in no way cheating! I tell everyone that I had wls because I could care less what they say or think. But that's me and I know everyone is different. Please don't let anyone make you feel bad for having the surgery. I wish you all much success now and in the future!

    Gall bladder removal...soon!

Hello. I had sleeve/galllbladder surgery on 4/8/14. Prior to the surgery I had severe back pain on a daily basis. Since the surgery I've had zero back pain. I'm so glad I decided to have my gallbladder removed the same time as my sleeve surgery. Sending you prayers for a safe surgery and speedy recovery.

    Keystone health plan east

Did you actually contact KHPE and was told they didn't cover it or did you hear it from someone else? The coverage my also depend on who your insurance is sponsored through (i.e your job). I didn't have any problems going thru the insurance. I didn't have to go thru a 3-6 month weight loss program prior to surgery like some insurances require. I would suggest you call KHPE directly.

Negativity in Surgery Support Group Meetings

I am 10 weeks post sleeve surgery. I love the support meetings I attend. I am actually going to one this evening. There are people in the group who report on the complications they may have had but for the most part the meetings are really supportive.
  10. Hey there, Cindy. I would say its a personal choice but you also need to check with your surgeon. I was scared to death of the having the bypass and put off having wls for over 3 years because of my fear. Then I hit rock bottom and realized that the only way I was going to lose weight and keep it off was to have wls. When I went to my first appointment with the surgeon (it was the same surgeon when I thought about having wls 3 years prior) he told me about the gastric sleeve. He felt the sleeve was better for me due to my history of noncompliance with medication (I didn't take any meds on a daily basis including my blood pressure meds). I had gastric sleeve/gall bladder surgery on 4/8/14 and I have lost almost 40 pounds (average of 4lbs a week). Some days I think I would have lost more weight if I had the bypass but I see there are some people who lose just as slowly with the bypass and some people who were sleeved and have lost significant amounts of weight in little time. I think you should peruse both forums and also take into consideration the pros and cons of each as it relates to your health history. Good luck!
  11. Wow...I hope to have arms like yours someday, lol. You are very inspiring and I wish you all the best!

Thanks Inelson. My fear is to have a lot of loose skin. I now have hope that with a lot of hard work I can minimize the chances of extreme loose skin. Again, you look wonderful and I wish you the very best!
  15. Congratulations! Keep up the great work!
  16. I am 10 weeks out and I still only eat between 600-800 calories a day. Most days I'm on the lower side. I am focusing on getting in my protein and water. Most of my protein is from shakes because I get full too quickly when eating dense protein like chicken or fish. I think the best person to ask is your doctor or NUT. Good luck to you.

    Surgery april 8...excited!

Hi Daisy. I'm glad to hear the scale started moving again. I know it's frustration when we hit a stall but as you see it's the little things that make things change. I am now down 37 lbs since surgery and have 50 lbs to go to hit goal. I am enjoying my journey. I wish you the best of luck on your journey.

    20 days post op

Hi Lindsay. I'm sorry that you had to go through a 2nd more painful surgery. I'm glad you're felling much better now. I had my gallbladder out the same day I had my sleeve surgery because I had been having problems with my gallbladder for years. I figured I'd kill two birds with one stone, lol. I'm convinced that all the pain I had was from my gallbladder and not the sleeve. I was lucky to only have pain for 3 days. I'm 10 weeks post op and I am feeling great! I wish you the best of luck!

    9months out help

Hi all. I have lost 35 pounds in 10 weeks. It has been very difficult to get all of my protein in which I know is the reason for the slower weight loss (don't get me wrong, I'm happy with any weight loss). Like Olarance, when I eat dense protein I get full quickly. So I've decided to do 2 protein shakes a day to get in my protein requirements. That way any other protein I am able to do during the day would be extra. I have not been able to eat more than 900 calories a day. Any more than that and I feel like I'm going to pop. So hopefully by increasing our protein, water and exercise we can get to our goal weights. Good luck everyone!

    8 weeks out!

I agree with kissifur. I think we should all stop saying only. I know this is the very first time I've ever lost 35 pounds in 10 weeks. We have to remember that wls is not a quick fix but a tool. We still have to do our part. I know I'm doing my part and I am happy with any amount of weight loss and so should you all. We can and will reach our goal weights....but only if we put in time and effort. Don't forget to have patience! I wish you all the best of luck and keep uo the great work!

    Surgery april 8...excited!

Hey there Kaz, I was actually thinking bout you today and wondering how you were doing. Ahhh mazing by the way!- .5 is still .5 take that and add it to the rest it will all add up in due course. I've learnt early on to remember not every time i overate or ate wrong foods did I see immediate weight gain but sometimes I did and sometimes it came on slowly but eventually it did of course - therefore on the flip side, I expect I should see some immediate losses, some slow ones and some stalls.... Just coming out of a stall and slow loss these last three weeks. Keep going strong - and remember all the good advice and support you give to everyone else :-) Thanks, I needed that. Yes, slipped off the bandwagon into a chocolate lake again. Not the answer! Have to keep reminding myself of the money and pain I've put myself through for this; I'm determined again! X Hi Kazyy! I think we are both walking the same path but we will not be defeated! I know stalls are frustrating but we have to push forward. One of my tools is to only weigh myself once a month or I just wait until I go to the doctor. I took someone else's strategy about getting more Protein in. I also let my clothes tell me if I am losing. I bought a dress on 4/25 that was too small for me (it was bulging on all sides, lol). Yesterday was my second time wearing it and it is now too big. I didn't realize how big it was until I saw myself in a photo my friend took. So although the numbers on the scale aren't necessarily going down, my body is obviously getting smaller. So.....take it slow, keep eating healthy, exercising and getting in your Water and protein and you will do just fine.
