Well I'm just gonna wait for medicares study. Medicare said that it would take 5 months ( its been like 7) to see if it would cover the band. Medicare stated this when they took out the wording the obesity is NOT a disease. Something must have been up with the FDA study as I don't think it should have been approved- meaning that they figured the US doctors will get better at the band thus more weight loss.

Yea wouldn't it be nice if we could eat all we wanted and stay small. My sister in law eats tons and she is a size seven. She can't gain at all. I get that surgery in a heart beat if they could come up with something like that being able to eat all you want. Then again we are lucky as most of the world is hurgry and really have to work hard just to get a cup of rice or even clean Water. Its way better to be overweight then underweight from going hungry.

Great Nancy. I wish all were as lucky as you. Most seem minor and I have to judge what I am will to risk as I'm researching. Side effect means like when you get meds at the docs and the pharmacist goes over the side effect of the drug like nausea headace ect. I know a lot of bypass people have vomiting for a yr out and thats not something I'm willing to risk doing surgery for so I need to ask questions to help me see if i'll go for the band. Well just a good feeling. Like liver gives me a bad feeling cause I hate it but pizza I get happy just thinking about it. I know it gets your good feeling chemical raised like giveyouthemoon says. When I say High I mean a really good feeling like the smell of vanilla vs the smell of garbage. You just feel good inside like seeing a puppy.

I'm sorry that you gained some weight and glad you shared it with us. I looked the other day at your picture and you don't even look 30 yrs old!! Just telling you now cause that would be upsetting to gain but its true you look sooo young.

Thanks for Sharing Jenna and Marimaru. Are you able to get a "high" still but just not enough of satisfaction? I liked to go on cruises. Is food pretty much not enjoyable because your not hungry much or your taste buds are different or you want more cause you did not get satisfied? Karen, I'm just researching so I wanted to know if anyone has no side effects other then feeling full. It seems as I've been researching people have acid reflux, or nausea or whatever so I wanted to hear if you just have the band and lost weight. Rene

Thats true I didn't say either good or bad!! But yea I'm ment only the bad ones. Yes that is great the band does clear up illness and that is a major plus to say the least. Rene

I'm sorry and all I can say is that I have someone saying that to me too. Its hard unless someone is in your shoes. The only way I try to figure it out how they feel is I don't get anemics and feel they should just eat some cake. It helped seeing Dr Phil's show with an anemic on there. Rene

Whats gonna help me decide too about getting the band is when medicare covers it. They announced they are reviewing the band it would take 5 months for the review. That was about 7 months ago and they still not announcement. The announcement was made when they took out the words that obesity was not an illness. I read all of this on CNN. I can't control my eating. I've never ate a bag of chips or whole bunch of ice cream or candy or never have surpersized a meal ever. So I don't pig out but I'd gain back if the band didn't make me feel full after a small amount. Sue I thank you for the info and yes that would be great if we had an idea of what happened. I know it would be hard to talk about cause that would be like losing a dream come true. Rene

some say they say Ann Wilson of heart gained a lot.Since its been only approve by the fda we don't know yet at least in the states. I have found to personal gals web sites one was named binkey or something and she gained back. Not sure if it cause U S docs haven't mastered it yet who knows why. But even you can go get plastic surgery at a top doc and it turn out bad so nothing is 100%!

Hey Mystyblu, was that a current show? We were all trying to figure out if Ann Wilson gained her weight back as nobody had info on her currently when we googled. Someone saw her on Country music awards and said she looked like she gained. Guess we don't know the long term as the fda only abroved the band a few yrs back. Rene

Thank you for your help everyone. I sure hope you get better Desertmom. I wonder when if I wanted the band out what would the criteria be for the ins to take it out. I'd rather be overweight and happy then in constant ill feeling. I hope you continue to come back with updates on how your doing. That IS a plus for the band is that it can be reversed. I have saw a person on TV with bypass who had been hospitalized 2 times for a total of 30 days and been bed ridden for almost 8 months and they still say they are glad they had it! Not me. Just wanted to know if (for those who do) do you still get a high off of food and just need less food to get a fix or is food not an issue since the ban? Do you find yourself missing food for the guilty pleasure? Rene

Just wanted to know is the band always felt to you inside or do you forget you have it? Can you feel that the band is in you (I don't mean can you touch it) or do you remember it only when you eat? Does it seem like you don't have anything placed in you? Thanks, Rene

I'm thinking of getting stock in this. It was at $63 a share. As more and more ins cos go up and then when medicare (i have medicare) will start to cover it I think its gonna skyrocket. Since like me, I have but on 50 pds from being sick for 6 yrs as a lot of people do who have medicare. Rene

I think it was triggered by me cause on this site I read an old post. The gal was gaining back and that was the last of her post. She never came back. I just was looking for input on old timers (lapbanders) to see if its kept off long term.
