  1. I was home after my first hospital visit for almost a week and then got sick and dehydrated and put back in the hospital. Turns out I have an ulcer that was causing my problems. So I spent another week in the hospital and then they sent me home with a PICC line in my arm. I still have the PICC line and it gives me fluids at night. I am doing a lot better now though and am progressing with my post op diet. I have a doctors appointment on 6/10 and I am hoping they will take out the PICC then.

@@melissapishappy32 Just wondering how you're doing now that you are a little further out.

  2. Tomorrow will be two months since my surgery. I feel like I'm losing slower than most, but I'm pleased with my 32 pound loss. Here's a side by side of me in February and today in the same outfit. I mostly see the difference in my face at this point.

You look great! You wouldn't want to lose too fast anyway.

  3. If I could turn back time I would. I was so strung out on medication that I am still in the hospital on an IV because I can't keep anything in. Oh I should mention my surgery was Monday. They also did a hernia repair while they were at it. I feel so frustrated now

  4. Have finished my 6 months of classes and now I am waiting on my approval from insurance. I know I have to have an upper GI after I get my approval, I already know I have a Hiatal hernia, will they still do my surgery?

I didn't know I had a hernia. I fact a year ago I started having problems that lined up to a hiatal hernia and my doctors didn't believe me. Well I had surgery Monday and while they were in there they found a hiatal hernia that they repaired right there. Check with your doctor they might be able to take care of it all at once

  5. Pls no rushing ladies...yes clear fluids only during first week....let that stomach heal from surgery...no Protein til second week when you get introduced to Calcium products milk..yogurt..pureed Soups...youve come this far....it will go fast trust meim 2nd week post op..plenty of food but im taking it slow and watching fat and sodium content....any questions id be glad to help...i have nutritional course and am an LPN. Good luck

I don't think you can say that across the board. Each patient should follow their own doctors orders. Mine had me doing Protein shakes as soon as I was released from the hospital on day 3

I have my surgery Monday and my doctor is having me do clear liquids three days before and then when I leave the hospital clear liquids and Protein shake but not the whole shake at once. I think it depends on the doctor.

  6. At first I told my mom. Then I told extended family and then I told friends. I knew I was going to need a support group around me of personal cheerleaders. Then I realized that where I work with all the parties and foods brought in I needed to share. So I told a select group of coworkers. I at first was worried people would judge me. The people who matter most to me though know how hard I have tried to lose weight and know that it is not an easy way out. I haven't told everyone yet but I think eventually I will. I am excited for this new part of my life.
