  1. @@Lexuskela The deprivation diets made me focus way to much on food. I talked and complained exactly like your example. It was my focus before surgery. Now food is just a way to fuel my body ..I move on. What bothers me more is when I see the food commercials, pharmaceutical commercials that have a cure for anything, crazy diets commercials. Alcohol commercials that tell people that in order to have a good time you have to drink their brand. Drive down a street and count how many fast food restaurants do you see. Food cooking shows, Travel shows that highlight the best restaurants. Marketing to women to wear a certain style and size. I now watch netflix..NO COMMERCIALS~
  2. Another tip Protein always first. Eat foods high in fiber. vegetables, Beans legumes.(avoid the high fiber carbs bread etc) Fruit in small amounts. Here is my local bariatric dietitians web site. She has some great recipes http://insidekarenskitchen.com/bariatric-friendly-recipes/ Bariatric plate to keep things in perspective
  3. @@Lexuskela Nice rant Socializing for most people revolves around food or drinks. I show up at my friends homes for parties. I always bring healthy food. My friends know they are my test subjects. They usually like what I make. Some of us drink, I drink my crystal light. It all works out.

  7. @@MrsKarenC2008 We should get a thread going on the awkward comments and moments we have experienced after surgery. They seem to rank uncomfortable, flattering, funny to creepy.

  10. @@pr_pitbullgrl you can enter food into my fitness pal to see the nutritional values. its a good idea to get the advice you are looking for from your dietitian. Here is my two cents..lol You will be eating vegetables and carbs again. you will be looking at them in a new healthy way. Always Protein first. as you get further out from surgery you will be able to get your veggies in. The Fiber will help keep you feeling full. It will also help your digestion. Healthy carbs..I was told to add them when I lost 75% of my weight. Healthy carbs are whole wheat, brown rice and plant based..(Not deep fried) A meal for me now looks like this Protein - 4.5 oz Salmon fillet Vegetable - 1/2 cup Green Beans, sliced almonds and bacon bits Carb - 2 table spoons Roasted sweet potato Below is a photo to help visualize how to fill your plate. Hope this helps
  11. @@suitechicguy You are now in maintenance. This is your first grazing moment. When the scale moves up get back into your plan to bring your weight to where you feel comfortable. It's good to acknowledge old behaviors. It's also ok when you are below goal to relax around weight loss mode and find your balance with maintaining.
  12. I grew up in the pacific NW. Place your salmon fillet on foil. season with Montreal steak seasoning & finely chopped fresh garlic Mix a tea spoon of liquid smoke with a low calorie BBQ sauce ( I make my own with splenda brown sugar) Coat the fillet top with a few small pieces of butter Wrap in foil. grill or bake at 400 until done.
  13. @@BairwithMe You have motivated me. I gained on the holidays. Its time to get it taken care of at the gym. Happy new year..Don't lose that high your on
  14. No more hiding for you!. Rock those arms girl.
  15. @ I'm in maintenance. I love sweet potatoes. I have to keep my carbs in small amounts still. They trigger hunger for me. Oven roasted sweet potatoes. Cut sweet potatoes in bite size pieces Coat lightly with olive oil Season with toasted garlic, Montreal steak seasoning and parsley flakes Bake in the oven at 400 until browned and tender. If I eat more carbs I adjust my workout to burn it off. Its finding balance that works for you.
  16. @@lsubabe33 You are a work in progress. Its not how fast you lose weight. Its the fact you are losing weight. You already know what to do. Work your program and get out of the surgery what you want.
  17. Artichoke hearts 10 pieces = 50 calories per artichoke heart quarter. Olive oil, essence of Emeril "bam!, liquid smoke & Montreal steak seasoning. Grill or roast in the oven. add to salads or steamed vegetables.
  18. craziest thing I have done to get my workout in... A guy at my gym has a fantastic fitness level. I have become his stalker (lol) I secretly compete with him when we are on treadmills. If I can out pace him or stay on my treadmill longer..It makes my day! I see no harm in my creepy stalker ways if it keeps me motivated.

  24. @@Threetimesacharm Obesity has taught me. I presented to everyone around me that everything was fine. The secret I held to myself was my life was a struggle every day. In my most human moments I wondered if it was worth living. ( yes dramatic) My health and depression were bringing me down. What I don't want to forget. How I became absent from my own life. I withdrew from activity's and social events due to embarrassment and health issues What did I envision. The reality of what it is like to be at a normal weight is better than any fantasy's I had pre surgery. I'm honestly happy. The changes on the inside were the best part of my surgery. Life is amazing. I'm always up for new experiences.
