  1. Look what you have accomplished in training. You are stronger than you gave yourself credit for. Holy hell brag away!
  2. It seems to still have some bug's. It tracks my long runs well. I use it so my husband know where I am when I run alone. Love that it puts my information automatically into myfitness pal. I hope they can work it out. So far I like using this app.
  3. My first comment about my weight was at 7yrs old. A elderly man told me that I better stop drinking milk if i wanted to be as slim as my sister. My weight has fluctuated most of my life. The message that high weight is not acceptable is constant. We live in a judgmental world. Now that I'm at a healthy weight, I find that some people will still find derogatory things to say..... It speaks volume's about them and nothing about you.
  4. @@haleymarie 50-60% average percentage weight loss. This is the cookie cutter answer given to most patients. Seems like she was uncomfortable to state anything out of that cookie cutter answer. (Kind of made an ass out of herself) Look around at the stats of patients on Bariatricpal. ( I'm down exactly 124..lol ) I know this process of insurance, choosing type of surgery and working with a medical team can be frustrating. You will get conflicting information at times...Do your research. Find whats best for you. Jenn
  5. Oscar Meyer make P3 portable Protein packs. I'm not sure what the vets think about them. I use them on the run. I don't eat the dip with the grilled chicken strips. http://www.proteinproteinprotein.com/
  6. I will be two years out in June. My restriction is good. As you get further out you will be able to get more food in. I can eat 5 oz of salmon a few bites of veggies and two bites of potato in a meal. I can have healthy carbohydrates in maintenance mode. I still feel it when I get full. If I'm to the point of burping..I know to stop lol
  7. @@lemonpoppyseed2013 Hey there, I was instructed that Vitamins will be taken for life. Surgery can cause nutrient malabsorption. You can always get back on track. Back to basics. Track food get your Protein and Water requirements in. Find what works to make you feel full. I eat my protein and 1 1/2 to 2 cups of vegetables with my meal. The Fiber keeps me full. I'm eating 6 to 8 small meals a day. 2000 to 2200 calories. I know many have gone without exercise and lost weight. I'm not so lucky. I have to exercise to loose weight and maintain. Book an appointment in April. Might be a good Idea to check with your team. Some of the vets have mentioned the pouch reset. http://www.obesitycoverage.com/the-pouch-reset-losing-weight-after-weight-regain/ I know vets will post more information than what I have off the top of my head tonight.
  8. @@Julie norton Finding what your tummy can tolerate is trial and error.lol Life is short. Get out and enjoy a meal and a cocktail if you choose. Its nice to relax and not have food be the main focus of the night. I check the restaurants menu online ahead of time. I can plan what I want. People don't judge my food choices. I still have to laugh at the waitresses that ask if my food is ok. They think if I'm not eating quickly, the food must be bad or something. When I meet up with my friends. I order an appetizer and a one drink. I'm a cheap date. Other times I end up being the designated driver.
  9. @@superbeast Congrats on your surgery date! I'm in Idaho. Your surgeons office can give you information on our local support groups. You can message me anytime. Jenn
  10. Beautiful day for a run. Overall 13th - 1st in my age group. Ran with my friends. It was their first 5K. We rocked it!
  11. NSV - When you look at a photo and think who the hell are you.
  12. big wake up call for me to get control of my health and my life 2013 was a depressing year. After yo yo dieting for years, I simply gave up on myself. I'm a type one diabetic. I was admitted to the hospitals ICU (Diabetic ketoacidosis) My internal organs systematically shut down. I flat lined. My mother and father-in law were diagnosed with stage four cancer at the same time. They passed in the same month June 2014 I had my surgery. The least I could do is to get control of my health and life. I have been given this gift of a second chance. I want to live a life my mom was not able to live.
  13. @@con con I always sample a product before I buy more. I like Isopure apple Mellon. shakes sit a bit heavy for me. I'm on the run most days. I pour it over ice in my Water bottle... ..I'm good to go.
  14. @@leonelbreton Something to try. Isopure Water. 40 grams Protein in a bottle. Added bonus is hitting your water requirement. You can buy them in single bottles at GNC or Vitamin shoppe http://www.gnc.com/Natures-Best-Isopure-Zero-Carb/product.jsp?productId=41842836
  15. I drink right up to the time I eat. I wait 30 mins after to eat again. I posted the video (yes, Once again) For someone new to the site. A quick explanation that is outdated. I like the funnel demonstration. If I have have fluid with my meals. Hunger kicks in on me. All of us experience things with bariatrics differently.
  16. You will only get out of this surgery what you are willing to put into it. The only person that has to be happy with your results is you. Try your best to follow your surgeons plan. This guy explains it best about Water. Link to his video below. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xR0VM3mnsgM

  18. @@Kim Smith I'm glad to see you here. Any of us can slip back and gain weight. Its a good idea to stay connect and have support. Sounds like this is a good time to start taking care of yourself. Some suggestions: Log/track your food. Get your Protein and Water in. Many of us use myfitnesspal https://www.myfitnesspal.com/ Protein: You can eat real food to get your protein requirements in. you can omit the Protein powder if you want. Plan and cook ahead. Keep healthy food in your refrigerator, pantry & freezer. Healthy Snacks. Quest has protein potato chips. If you can get your trigger food out of the house or hide it. Bariatric friendly recipes http://theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com/ http://insidekarenskitchen.com/bariatric-friendly-recipes/ Hunger: Get your protein then a good serving of vegetables in. Detox off carbs and sugar. .
  19. @@Alex Brecher Some day's the difference still surprises me . I have more value because I'm in a more acceptable package. People are so inundated with the media selling us we are not good enough. We are sold the image of what beauty is. We are sold that overweight is not acceptable. I will always appreciate the people that can get past the appearance thing.
  20. @@Indieflickers I didn't want to hijack your post. I sent you a message.
  21. @@Indieflickers Many bariatric patients get into sports. My first local meeting I met a woman in her 60's that mountain biked across the state of Iowa.( who the hell bikes across Iowa lol) She also competes in the senior Olympics here in Idaho. She is a bad ass and my mentor. That is how I got into running and other sports. My weight has stabilized in the 130's with 2000 calories. I'm working out in the weight room at my gym. I'm good with gaining weight with muscle. Bring on the gain! I want to be a bad ass in my 60's
  22. @@Indieflickers Things look different if you have an above average fitness level. I see this question often on the forum. I'm not sure why most surgeons office's don't have the information on this issue. I started distance running 6 months out from surgery. I am now 1 year and 9 months out. I work with a sports medicine dietitian. On the days I run/workout. I burn 1000 in an hour. I eat up to 2000 calories. 150g of Protein - 200g of carbohydrates - 67g fat. On the days I don't work out I consume 1500 calories. The challenge is eating that amount with a tiny tummy. 23. @@Nurse_Lenora There are alternatives for bariatric recipes. You can use spaghetti squash to replace Pasta. Sweet Italian turkey sausage. This is a recipe I tried. Peel and sliced egg plant. Dip in egg wash and coat with garlic Parmesan cheese. Bake until golden brown coat a cupcake pan with cooking spray First layer - spaghetti sauce 2nd layer- Eggplant Parmesan 3rd layer - spaghetti sauce 4th layer - sweet Italian ground sausage - Top with mozzarella cheese.
  24. @@Rvamom Enjoy researching! Here are a few websites that will give you an idea of what eating will look like while in weight loss phase. http://insidekarenskitchen.com/bariatric-friendly-recipes/ http://theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com/ I had surgery June 2014. High weight 255 Goal weight 140. I now maintain in the 130's. I'm healthy and living life with no regret. All of my past diets failed. Surgery helped me to understand the sensation of a FULL stomach. I'm not deprived. I still enjoy food. Eating healthy is full of flavor. I get adventurous and try many new foods/recipes.
