  1. @@Babbs Wish I could avoid the drama. I'm the president of our housing association.
  2. @@KindaFamiliar In the scheme of things..Not a big issue. Just ranting and kicking the teddy bear tonight. I will talk and smooth this over sometime this week.
  3. My rant for the night. Neighborhood Party tonight..Everyone is there. Except me. (kicking my teddy bear)lol I live in a small private subdivision. The neighborhood gets together for parties often. At the last party, A husband got uncomfortably friendly with me. A hello kiss and moving in too close. He demanded I have a shot with him. I avoided him for the night and chalked it up to alcohol. Now I have been taken off the guest list. Not a word or explanation. I am only speculating it was the situation at the last party...Who knows what other social faux pas I might have made. How did I become the bad guy here??? Damn it, We own our home.

  5. @@Inner Surfer Girl I loved this essay. The experience of obesity hit my self esteem hard. All the negative messages from society and myself. I have worked on myself during my rapid weight loss process.(always learning) Getting my mental heath together has been best gift from surgery.
  6. I agree with @@CowgirlJane people are attracted to your positive energy. Can we agree that children can be brutally honest about your appearance and weight? I was in an elevator when a little girl said " mommy I'm glad your not as big as that" We live in a judgmental world. It's not just children that have comments about weight. After weight loss: People look me in the eye. I'm not invisible anymore. I have more opportunity at work. People who would not give me the time of day..Now want to be friends..Lol (they don't get to do that) The opposite sex shows interest. People have been more helpful. Women don't like it when I talk to their husband/boy friends..(They have nothing to worry about) I seem more valued now that I'm an acceptable package. I'm still the same person on the inside.
  7. @@shewolf143 I'm sorry for your loss. You may want to consider counseling for stress and emotions. Put yourself first. Don't let things get out of control and derail all your hard work. Here is a link to the 5 day pouch test. http://5daypouchtest.com/plan/days1_2.html I wish you the best, Jenn

Eating at one year out/ maintenance was mentioned in this thread. http://www.bariatricpal.com/topic/366690-a-year-out-from-surgery-what-is-your-daily-diet-consist-of/ I want to make this clear...I'm not advising anyone to eat as I do. 15. Thanks for the article. I still have so many questions about obesity and surgery. I would like to think surgery studies would be different from the biggest looser weight loss program. I don't see many surgery patients 6+ years out. I think for many reasons. Life turn to normal..You don't Identify with weight loss mode and some experience weight gain. Patients in my area don't keep follow up appointments for 5 years. The studies at my surgeons office are not correct due to the lack of continued participation. This Leave me with more questions than answers. I still depend on all the senior surgery patients. I follow what keeps them successful. I wish I met more people long term out.

  17. @@matt1912 Your question was directed to the guys about supplements and weightlifting. Hope you don't mind a post from me I work just as hard as the boys i highly suggest bodybuilding.com. So much information. http://www.bodybuilding.com/ Bodyspace. I'm a part of this fitness community along with other bariatric patients. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bodybuilding.mobile&hl=en I've had no issues with my sleeve with any of my supplements, Before my workout - NOS BLAST - Pre workout drink.- Running days - Frog Fuel running gel - 15g Protein. these have worked well. After workout recovery - whey isolate Protein Drink..I also eat a bit of carbohydrate. Slow acting Protein shake before bed. (this is new info for me I'm trying it out.) Casein is considered a "slow" protein. When you consume casein, you will reach a peak in blood amino acids and protein synthesis between 3 to 4 hours.5,12 This peak, however, does not even come close to that of whey. On a scale of 1-10 (with 10 being the highest or fastest), whey would be a 10. Proteins.html" rel="external nofollow">Casein would come in with a meager rating of 2. But, here is the kicker. That is not a bad thing! This, too, is a good thing. Casein dramatically slows the rate of protein breakdown. Remember, muscle growth is dependant on the balance of protein synthesis and breakdown. So as we can see here, relying on one or the other, and debating which is superior is futile in the hopes to gain the most benefits from them. To tip the scale in your favor, you need to increase protein synthesis and slow down muscle breakdown. I am now working on my neglected upper body. My goal is to build muscle.

  20. @@ejirish Sleeved at age 45 in 2014. BMI 42. I'm 5' 5" Starting weight 254. Current weight 134. Maintenance 1 year 5 months. My advice..lol (1) Never compare your weight loss with anyone else...It WILL drive you crazy (2) It not how fast you drop weight...Its the fact you are dropping weight. (3) you can get out of surgery what you are willing to put into it. ( Exception complications etc) (4) The only person that has to be happy with your results is you. (5) Choose carefully information and statistics you read online. Strive for what success looks like for you.
  21. My go to breakfast has been jimmy dean turkey sausage. I buy a bag of them out of the freezer isle. I need some new ideas for quick grab on the go meals in the morning.

I recently purchased a body composition scale. I love it. It measures weight, body fat percentage, body Water percentage, muscle mass and bone mass. You can do a google search to get more info on them.. Price range is from $20 to $200.
