Now when I see MO people...

I talk about WLS when someone is genuinely interested. My first year out, I had to realize my enthusiasm about bariatrics is not at everyone’s level. Learning the basics was eye opening and life changing. IDK. I would be offended by someone approaching me about WLS when I never asked about it. Grocery shopping - When I see a cart of unhealthy stuff. It’s a sad reminder that I used to shop and eat like that.

Scared of loosing too much weight!

Congrats on five months out. I like that you divided your goals. I understand the fear. I had doubts because I would lose weight gain it back with extra pounds. I'm grateful that I’m still maintaining this far out from surgery. I wish there wasn’t pressure about choosing/achieving goal weight. I agree 100% It doesn’t matter where we end up on the BMI chart. Healthy is the goal.

    Skin folds!

The only way to fix loose skin is plastics. Weightlifting will fill in some of it with muscle.

  16. Happy Sunday, Accountability - Watching football and a BBQ with friends. I own it. I was not on point with food. Back to the warrior plan today. I don’t have the detox feeling that I’ve had in the past. My energy is up. I’m not craving anything. Loving IF.

    Ice cream

What does your plan say about ice cream? We are adults. When you make food choices, Think about how it will affect your weight loss results. How are things going three months out? I’m not sure if you are asking permission to eat things or you don’t have a dietician’s plan. In your activity log you have talked about hunger and asked “can I eat Ice cream, fruit, nuts, frozen meals” Can you give us an update???
  18. Loved that you showed up in your size 24’s to your appointment. You have done phenomenal.🏆🎖️ A triathlon! You are a bad ass. How are you currently fueling while you train? I know nothing about how to fuel for that type of event. I’ve been running for years. (Half and full marathons) some things I learned from other Bariatric Athletes on fueling after surgery. I’m sure these are things you already know.( Feel free to skip the rest of the post) Fueling will be trial and error to find what works for you. (1) Hiring a sports medicine dietician may help. (2) Food on a pre event tapper link below https://www.triathlete.com/2019/01/nutrition/a-7-day-race-week-meal-plan-for-triathletes_338482 I modify my tapper. Carb load seven-days pre-race. it takes more time to fuel my glycogen stores with the sleeve. I do sports drinks without sugar. (NUUN tabs saved me from dehydration) I replace real sugars with fruit. (3) Pre event tapper training link below. https://www.triathlete.com/2016/09/training/triathlon-taper-tutorial_136524 (3) Food on event day Some people do fine with a meal in the morning. I can’t run with food race day. (The last thing I need is to make porta potty stops on the route) Instead of food, I use powdered carbs. I add them for calories in my water/hydration vest. I carry the powder in a zip lock baggy. I add more cytoCarb when I refill my vest on the route. Hope you figure out what works for you. I would love to see photos of your events.
  19. Is it possible to lose weight without exercise? There are bariatric patients with medical issues that don’t have the ability to exercise. Weight loss is more dependent on strict diet without exercise/activity. Factors you have no control over that will affect how much and the rate of weight loss. Age, genetics, hormones, medical issues, medications metabolism. You CAN control how you work your surgeons plan. Food choices, logging, exercise and hydration. Decide what will keep you healthy and successful long term. Where does the fat go when you lose weight???? Video below.

So what are you unable to eat now?

I gave up some foods on my bariatric dieticians weight loss food plan (sugar, breads rice pasta, processed food, carbonation) Maintenance phase no foods are forbidden. I can indulge within reason. I still eat mainly healthy. Sent from my SM-G930T using BariatricPal mobile app
