  1. Okay for all you single ladies out there in wondering how you deal with dating and when you tell someone about your surgery? I was sleeved July 25 and am down 55lbs so far, but still have at least 100lbs to go! But I've recently joined the dating world again and I'm wondering how to deal with going out for supper or drinks with someone, and how soon to tell them that I'm shrinking and have all these limitations! TIA!

  2. I can eat about a quarter cup of salad, but then I can't eat more than a quarter cup of anything - and even that leaves me stuffed! My head still tells me I want more, but my tiny tummy rebels! Beats the heck out of having almost 40 pounds back on me though! I have almost. 40 to go to goal, but what a difference already.

That's awesome Erika!! I'm down 51 so far! I've had my struggles, and nothing statisfies my taste buds but the results are worth it! Glad to hear your doing good!!

  3. I take it your surgeon didn't give you any guidance on when you could eat salad or other raw veggies? It really makes me sad to see people who are left to flounder around and seek advice on the internet from strangers because their surgeons don't provide basic information to them. :(

I wasn't cleared for any kind of raw vegetables until six months post-op, but my team is very conservative in this regard.

Unfortunately no, I got a very basic post op diet! I was sleeved in Tijuana and I will say that is the one thing that has been a disappointment! However I do feel that people who have lived through this experience are a pretty good source of information as long as you take into consideration your own situation and how you feel! I generally try a little bit of something new and see how it sits and go from there!

  4. I'm 5 weeks and my dr salad I can eat anything I want as long as I can tolerate it and I had salad since week 4 chewed slow like everything else and had no problems. I've heard the myths about salad expanding etc but the only thing salad does when wet is go limp...,

Thanks!! I'm gonna go for it!

  5. hmmm... I guess I am a creature of habit and eat a lot of the same things every day and do not get bored. Your menu looks pretty much like mine. But I do believe your taste will return, it takes time. You are very early out. Looks like you are getting plenty of protein...don't forget your Water. Your weight loss is great.

Does your plan allow some fruit yet? How about half an apple or banana with some Peanut Butter as a snack instead of a yogurt. i would peel the skin off the apple. I find I really enjoy these "treats" but only eat them sparingly because of the carb content.

tuna salad on cucumber slices? have you tried making your meat with some type of sauce or gravy? chicken marsla, lemon chicken, meatloaf, meatballs with either brown gravy or spaghetti sauce....so you are not eating plain meat? One of my favorite and easy ways to cook chicken is to cut up boneless breast into cubes, season with salt, pepper, garlic and onion powder, brown it in a little oil and then add a can of cream of chicken soup(and the Water or milk as directed)and let simmer until done. I add dumplings for the rest of my family but the chicken is moist and tasty from the Soup.< /p>

Google some crock pot recipes...makes meat moist and juicy and the cooking liquid/gravy adds flavor.

    You'll get there!

Thanks so much for the suggestion of the mushroom soup! I made it the other night and it was pretty tasty!

    Chele H....

My typical day is Protein Shake in the morning. A yogurt as a snack, lunch is some chicken or maybe some ham sausage and cheese, then my next snack is a cheese stick, then dinner is some kind of meat. My other staples that I rotate around are cottage cheese, turkey bacon and Swiss cheese roll ups, luncheon meet ( turkey or chicken) and eggs! Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks so much Chele I will try playing around with more sauces! I tried some butter chicken sauce yesturday but didn't like the taste I guess I just have to keep trying until I find one that works!

  7. If you enjoy (and can tolerate) beef Jerky, I find it to be a fun change in my Protein routine. My main problem is that if I buy a big bag, I tend to eat too much of it until the bag is gone. It now takes a longer than it used to to polish off a bag, but it's still "old thinking", so I'll have to get that in check. Smaller bags are expensive, but give you just the right amount for a snack. For example, one ounce of Jack Link's Teriyaki Beef Jerky is 80 calories with 14 grams of protein, plus 1 gram of fat, 5 grams of sugar, and here's the kicker, 600mg of sodium. But as an occasional protein snack, it's pretty darned tasty!

I actually tried some beef jerky this past weekend, it was pretty good, I may have to try some more! Haha thanks for the suggestion

  8. Hey everyone! Here's a bit of background on my I had my surgery July 25 ( so 7 weeks tommorow :) ). I started at 336 and am now 293! Which is amazing!! But my problem is I don't get any enjoyment out of food ! Nothing tastes the same as it used to! I have pretty much been able to eat anything. I also find that all I'm eating is Protein to try and get my levels up! Any idea how I could get some veggies in or something!! I guess the best way to explain it is I eat cause I know I have to but not cause I want/enjoy it!! Anyone else have this? Does it go away? TIA

  9. I wouldn't worry about it I think your experiencing the dreaded third week stall! I was sleeved July 25 and right around the third week i stopped losing and would go up a pound or two and then it would drop! I too seemed to be doing everything right! Eating like 600 calories, getting my Water in, all my Protein and nothing happened! I ended up actually upping my calories to 700-750 and with in a couple days it started dropping! Someone explained the three week stall on here that made me feel so much better! The first couple weeks your body loses cause of the lack if calories and by the third week your body kinda says whoa!! And holds on to everything, then it adjusts and realizes that the lack in calories is the new norm and starts losing again !! The other person explained it much better but that's my short version! Lol. Good luck just keep doing what your doing and it will work itself off! I'm now 38lbs down since my sleeve!!

  10. What are you able to eat now? I'm almost 2 years out so I don't remember the stages, but if you're on liquids or soft foods it might be why you're not satisfied as long. Maybe plan 3 meals with Snacks in between at specific times to keep hunger at bay. I literally eat my meals and snacks at specific times every day and track it on myfitness pal or I'll be all over the place with calories.

I'm on soft foods! so my typical day is a Protein Shake at 7:30 ish, yogurt at 9:30, lunch at 12 where I'll have an egg or some chicken of some sort, or cottage cheese, 2:30 a cheese stick or yogurt, 430-5 is dinner, again some chicken or meet ball, then 7-8 I'll have another snack, I bumped my calories up to 700 this week! Somedays my schedule gets changed but that's a average day!

  11. My NUT plan is to eat 6 small meals a day, or every 2 hours. I do get hungry when it's 2.5 and I haven't eaten, I too get in the reccommended Protein totals per day. I don't thin there is anything wrong with they way you seem to be eating

Thanks! I don't have a NUT as I had my sleeve done on Mexico! I will just keep doing what I'm doing hopefully this hunger subsides! And that my stall comes to an end! How many calories are you supposed to be taking in according to your nut?

  12. Are u getting enough Protein? Am one week post op and feel hunger too. I thought that wouldn't happen either. But as previously mentioned, it could be acid.

I've been getting around 70 g the last couple days! That's what's confusing me! I upped my intake of protein And calories by eating more frequently and I'm feeling the hunger more and more!

  13. I am on something for Acid! Can't think of the name though! I don't get the hunger pains but my stomach just always feels empty about an hour after I eat! I'm not wanting Anything specific, just something to fill it up! I went to my doc yesterday and he said that he thought it would be normal to feel hunger when only eating so little, but I don't think he has much knowledge on bariatric surgery and the after affects! It's just frustrating cause I was so excited pre sleeve to not feel hunger and now here I am :(

  14. Thanks for the info! Sorry you're feeling tired. And, yes, having real food may help with that. I will be in the hospital for 2 days and then move to a hotel for 2 days before heading back to San Diego, where I am actually staying one more day! So, maybe that will work fine. 1/4 cup of food in a meal? Wow! I find that hard to imagine! Physiological changes upcoming! And also the visual cues. Half a cup sounds like a ration in an orphanage or something!

    .

And yes 1/4- 1/2 cup is food is all I can do too! I made some meatballs that are about an inch around and I can eat 2.5 of them and I'm done! It's definately a mindset change, but I don't feel like I want to eat more than that! Softer foods like cottage cheese I can have 1/2 cup, and eggs well I can just about eat a whole one! Ha ha. Good luck on your journey!

  15. Hey ladies

I'm from outside edmonton and was sleeved on July 25 in Mexico! So far things are going okay! I'm working on upping my Protein and Water every day! Right now I'm struggling to eat more than 500-600calories, which is why I think I'm at a stall! But I'm trying to not get too concerned! So far I'm down 34lbs since starting my preop diet! It's definately an adjustment after surgery! I feel like I think about food more now, but in a different way.. Now it's making sure that I eat every couple of hours and make sure to drink in between and then Time it so I don't drink for half an hour! I don't know if I really feel hungry but I definately feel empty! Anyone else feel this way? Anyone have any advice for getting over the stalls?

  16. Hey everyone! So I had my surgery on July 25 and so far I'm down 34 lbs since preop diet! But I've hit a stall! I know it's probably the dreaded 3rd week stall but I'm wondering how some of you have gotten over it! I started at 336 and I'm currently at 302! I'm getting my Water in and most days I'm between 50-60 g of Protein, and I'm getting about 500-600 calories a day! Should I be trying to up my calories? I'm not exercising yet other thank walking a bit! And suggestions would be greatly appreciated!! Hope everyone is doing great!
