  1. I'll mention I also have PCOS, Not sure if that makes a difference or not.
  2. Today I woke up with a horrible UTI (Probably my 3rd in the last 6 months) so I went to the Dr's and she did a Urine Test that came back positive for High Sugar content and she went on to say that she wants me to come in and get blood tests done for Diabetes after I finish up with my Antibiotics...I am 5 months Post-Op and 65lbs down, has this happened to anyone else?, Is this even possible?.. I mean I thought diabetes was something you got before losing weight not after!..I had mentioned this to her and she just chuckled at me and was like "Anything is possible". I want to call BS on the whole thing and say that her test strip was simply wrong, But I don't really know. Sees unlikely since I just had a urine test done 2 months ago and everything was fine, I had a battery of tests done this past summer before surgery and everything came out ok and I have no other symptoms of diabetes I feel great, No family history either.. WORSE VALENTINES DAY EVER...
  3. A pre-op diet will only shrink you're fatty liver if you infact have one, I think the more weight someone has to lose the more likely they are to have Fatty liver...But not everyone has this issue before surgery. Some pre-op diets are done for Inurance and not the Dr as well.
  4. Just because someone wants to indulge before surgery doesn't mean they won't be successful, I actually gained about 5lbs in the two weeks leading up to my surgery (Which was done here in the US and paid in full by my insurance). I don't think I gained on purpose it was more of me just feeling nervous and having this thought in the back of my head that I wouldn't be able to eat like this ever again, or these foods (Wrong) but I wasn't out for self-self sabotag. Here I am 5 months out come Sunday and 60lbs down.
  5. I never had a pre-op diet. the day before surgery I just had to do clear liquids, The night before that I went to TGIF for a birthday party where they had gotten "All you can eat appitizers" and I ate my weight in Potato Skins
  6. You look great!. I had my surgery Septemeber 8th at 255lbs and I'm down 58lbs (currently 197 as well) but I don't see the weight loss at all, Or very little even with the side by side's I've taken..Also I've been taking measurments and I've barely lost anything in my mid-section which is a little more then frustrating lol. I forgot to mention I'm only 5'3" and I always find it amazing how much a difference a few inches makes on a person when it comes to weight loss.
  7. @@bobbyswife Thanks I'll keep at it and hope that things change.
  8. So I finally got to "onderland" about 2 weeks ago and for the past 2 weeks I've really been putting a lot of effort forward in order to move thing's along. I've joined the Gym and have been going 4 days a week for 11/2hours a day, I've been watching what I eat and only take in 30-50gr of carb a day, Getting in 70grams of protein and all my water. But here I am still stuck at 199. What am I doing wrong?.. Has anyone else had this issue?...Maybe its the addition of the gym and water weight/muscles building idk but before the gym I was losing 1-2lbs a week at a stedy pase.
  9. Also that amount of weight lost in 10 weeks is pretty awesome! I mean without surgery have you ever had results like that?..I know I havent, That's why were here.
  10. No worries, Everyone loses at different speeds. I also am a slow loser. Down 54lbs since my surgery September 8th, But a lot of the friends I have on Instagram who had surgery at the same time are down 60-70lbs. Just keep swimming!
  11. I had this happen to me a week or two out and I pulled the muscles in my stomach. It hurt like a Bi*ch and It took a month for the pain to go away. As far as stopping the sneeze try holding your nose or using a pillow to hold up against your stomach if you do have to sneeze. The good news is it will eventually go away and things will get better, Good luck!
  12. @@Marielbx Thank You. Thats Great!...Glad to be an inspiration to you
  13. I am going on 5 months out from Surgery and I almost to "Onederland". Today I am 201lbs from my highest weight of 255lbs, Thats a weight loss of 54lbs since surgery which was on September 8th. Could not be happier with my life today, I definitely wish I had done this all sooner. But I am so glad I decided to do it now
  14. @@Thenewnic Yes. I had Steak a month or so out, Pork, Chicken, Fish, Lamb, Turkey. No issues. It's trial and error, Not everyone is going to have an issue with food but some do. Just take your time and find out what works for you.
  15. I think for the most part a lot of us sit online Pre-Op reading all the information we can get our hands on and we see that there are people post-op who put up posts about not being able to tolorate certain foods and complications so we just assume at some point during our journy we'll have the same experience and when we don't it becomes worrisome. I myself am 3 months out -48lbs and I have had 0 foods that i've had issues with and I am also able to drink protein drinks and water just fine.
  16. Thats normal, Liquids run through your tiny tummy quicker now.
  17. @@BeagleLover Thanks for that list.. I also went to a "Center Of Excellence" but from the way my surgery was handled and from what I hear from other's you would not know it. I was given surgery and that was about it, I mean yeah I had one nut appointment and she basically just sent me home with a book and that was it but it was just covering the first 3 weeks after surgery. I was never given a guideline of nutrition or what type of things needed to be looked at when it came to blood work later on. I guess I'll try calling my pcp and see if she'll be able to write me up a scrip to get blood work done.
  18. I know exactly what your going through, At 47lbs down It's hard for me to see the difference in my body though I can feel it in my clothes and have went from a size 18-16 myself in the past 3 months. Everyone around me tells me they can see it, but not me. Maybe taking a current body shot this month and then taking another one to compare it to in 3 months time will help you see how far you've come?
  19. I had steak as soon as I was aloud solids, No I did not have to cut it to the size of my pinky nail, No I did not have to chew it to death (though I prefer it Rare), It did not get stuck in my chest, and I did not get sick. I've had it multiple time's since then. You can listen to everyone online and their experiences all day but sometime's I find it's just easier to try thing's on your own and finding out what works for you, Not everything that works for you is going to work for everyone else. Before surgery I heard a lot of people talk about getting sick off of Eggs and not being able to tolorate Pork anymore, If I had just assumed that my stomach and journy was the same as everyone else's I would not be enjoying pork chops tonight for dinner.
  20. @@LipstickLady Sound Advice. I mean not much changes for me month to month so I didn't see it necessary to have a 4 week/ 6 week visits and so on. I will make an appointment after this month when I have some more money sitting around. As for the support group I'll continue to get that here.
  21. Well there's always an excuse for everything and some are legit like I work four day's a week and he only has office visits on Thursday, I can't take off I only make $250 a week and that's a little hard to budget with a family to help support. Everytime I visit with my Surgeon it's a 2min visit and I'm out the door with a bill. They never called me to schedual another appointment after my first one and I guess I would feel more obligated to go and spend my money if the Dr spent a little more time getting to know his patients. For the record I only saw the guy once before my surgery as well. I get a lot of my support online, And I've been on BP way before my surgery and here I am now.
  22. So I am 3 months out from surgery and 47lbs down as of today. Things are going really well, No complants or issues at all, My only issue is I've only had one follow up appointment with my surgeon the week after surgery was the last time I went in for a visit!..Not because I don't want to, but mainly because I just don't have the time between work and home life also his office is an hour away and it cost me $125 per office visit. Is it really necessary to go in for monthly visits if everything is going well?..Also I was asked to join a support group and go to that which I never did, But I have a lot of support at home and 3 months in have never had a feeling of depression or sadness because of my decision and I've been able to keep on track myself. Has anyone else gone without going to the Dr's and support groups and done alright?
  23. I am 3 months out as of today and Ive had some hair fall out here and there during brushing and washing (A little more then normal) but I'm not bald or anything crazy. My hair is a bit thinner when put in a hair tie I have noticed that, But it's always been thin, Since I was diagnosed with PCOS and started shedding before surgery I can't blame it all on the surgery alone. But since the begging of September I've been getting in 65g of protein and taking 20,000mg of Biotin, It might have helped.
