Thank you both so much! I guess when I get ready to make the move I'll call them and make an appointment.
-
I'm going to be moving to the Tampa area, probably Port Richey or Land O Lakes from New York City.
I would like recommendations to a doctor who is experienced.
Thanks!

Thank you for your replies. I haven't had one yet - I'm going to keep my fingers crossed that it never does happen.

What is an esophageal spasm and what does it feel like?
-
My doctor's office said that each person is different. Some people it might take less to get the restriction back and other people it might take more.
I just had 1.5 cc taken out (I had 9) of my 14 cc band. They said it might be difficult to get the restriction that I had back.

I went in for an appointment yesterday - 88 POUNDS GONE!!!
I had a 1.5 cc UNFILL because I'm going away and I have trouble eating certain things and I don't want to worry about anything.
It feels so wierd having this much unrestriction. I feel out of control, yet at the same time I have control with the I have new habits that I obtained post-surgery. I almost can't wait to go back in for my refill so this hunger feeling goes away!!

I have 9 cc in a 14 cc band.
A normal day for me is:
Breakfast - package of oatmeal
lunch - chili, tuna, egg salad, Soup, whatever is not too heavy (I don't like getting stuck while at work)
dinner - a very small piece of meat and some veggies
Mid afternoon I usually have a handful of unsalted cashews.

Has anyone ever pulled the muscle that the port is sewn into?
I did something on Saturday (today is Wednesday) and it still hurts. I have an appointment with my surgeon this afternoon, but I was wondering if anyone else did this and how long did it take to heal?

yesterday my insurance denied me stated I did not meet the 6 month supervised diet reqiments. Did this happen to any of you and what did you do to fix it? -

How do you have a lap band and not know what a fill is?????
I was under the impression that coming to a support board for some people might very well be PART OF THE RESEARCH PROCESS!?Correct me if I'm wrong.
-
I am sitting here with a smirk on my face, shaking my head back and forth. This is EXACTLY what I am talking about!!
-
Oh that's another one:
Is lasagna considered a mushy food?
Honestly, this stupidity is why I hardly read these boards anymore. Because it's the SAME BS over and over and over and over...
-
Why don't people do their research? You have a band or are getting a band and don't know what a fill is? HELLO????? Geez, before I got my band, I read and read and read and found out EVERYTHING I possibly could.

My doctor's office keeps newly banded patients on liquids for 2 weeks to decrease the chances of slippage and to let the stomach heal from the surgery.
My surgeon also told me that you'd be surprised how long your body can survive off of the fat that is stored.

I drank 5 slim fast optimas per day, plus 2 cups of veggies (salad) with fat free dressing, 1 chicken breast cooked in lemon juice, and as much chicken and beef broth, sugar free Jello and sugar free ice pops as I wanted. The first 4 days were hell, then it got better. I lost 22 pounds during that 2 week period.

I would call your doctor's office and ask what's going on. Honestly, I wasn't hungry for 2 weeks after my surgery, and all I was taking in was 2 diluted slim fasts and lots of coffee. I wasn't allowed soft foods until 2 weeks after my surgery.
-
I definitely felt a difference after my last fill. I know what you mean about the liquid going through. Just take it easy on yourself for the next few days.
-
That's strange, mine was only 1 hour. Maybe they want extra time for paperwork?
-
I could eat them by the truckload.
-
You don't want to be too full. I've been too full and had to go back for a slight unfill. I wasn't able to drink anything and I even had a hard time swallowing my spit.
It all depends on how aggressive your doc is. Just be honest with them.

No it's not me, just some pic I found somewhere on the net. The guy reminds me of Jon Bon Jovi. Speaking of which, I have tix to see them in July.
Joe Dirt is one of my favorite movies!!

Do you have to have all those slimfasts? Is it possible to have real food instead of the slimfasts?
How about adding a nice big salad in there? Or maybe some sugar free ice pops?
Very Concerned

I live in NYC and was banded 10/1/07 by Dr. Ren.
My dad lives in Casa Grande and is going through the process of being banded by Dr. Fang.
There are things I don't understand and maybe someone could clarify them for me.
I had to do a 2 week liquid diet (consisting of 5 slim fasts, 2 oz of PLAIN chicken, and 2 cups of veggies per day. No sugar, no fat). After surgery I had to do strict liquids (slim fast, chicken broth, I drank lots of coffee) until I was given the ok to move on to mushies (approximately 10 days later).
His doctor wants a 1 week liquid diet and DOES NOT want him to drink slim fast or anything with artificial sweeteners. Post op, same thing, liquids (basically just chicken broth) and again, no slim fast.
How are you supposed to maintain any kind of nutrition on chicken broth? His doctor claims artificial sweeteners make you produce insulin which makes you hungry.
Also, when he gets a fill, they want him to GUZZLE down Water and if it gets stuck, he's too tight and if it goes right down, he's too loose. When I get a fill, they want me to SIP my water to make sure it goes through. I was told NEVER to guzzle my liquids.
This isn't making sense to me.
