  1. It looks like Tuesdays might be a good day, now, how about the first Tuesday of each month, starting with April? I ask Dawnstunes to check with Dennys in Normal about just using their back room, hope she will check on that. The first meeting could be April 1st, thats the first Tuesday of April. we could at least start out then and once we meet we could change things ,times, dates, so forth as we needed too. This get together doesn't have to be a long get together, eat alittle something and share our thoughts. We all work I'm sure so none of us want to be out to late, I would be driving about 20miles one way..
  2.:wink_smile:I live in Mackinaw, towards Peoria from Bloomington, but why don't we pick a place and meet once a month at a resturant, if we had enough we could ask or a larger area than the norm, eat alittle talk alittle and compare notes, just be a life line for each other, I certainly need that right now, I get my first fill this Monday March 3rd.Tell ya what Let me look into finding a good place to go, not expenceive, but not a dump either, you guys that are willing to meet let me know the days that would be better for you, tuesday, thurdays aren't bad for me. I f we could all agree I'll get us a place! and we could start our get togethers as soon as March,Just need a day of the week, then decide on first,2nd,3rd or 4th week of that month..Then I'll pick out a couple places and we can all agree on one place.we can talk about this till the cows come home, but if we want to get together we have to move forward with the plans. Becky
  3. has there ever been a group set up for lap bands I'm a new lap band and need some support? I live in Mackinaw, could go to Clinton but thats about an 90 min drive. and your right the one in Bloomington is mainly bypass, I know there is one in Peoria, but I hear if you don't have your work done by those Drs, they are not real receptive, but thats just hear say, have never gone so I personally don't know!!! Pleaase let me know I am very interested. thanks Becky:wink_smile:
  4. no restriction means, I could proably eat till the cows come home and not even know how much I have taken in, thats why I am so looking forward to my fill, and then they say it takes at least 3 fills before you really can tell. Thats why I am getting impatient.
  5. you'll love the Dr, and his staff, but as far as seeing him I have talked to 2 times, first time was the first interview, and 2nd was the day of surg. for about 10 min. then when I went back for my 2 week check up I saw his PA. The PA will do the fills also. I have my first fill March 13th. can't wait..:biggrin:Becky

    Hospital Experience(s)

I had surgery last Friday week ago tomorrow, in a small country Hospital in Clinton Ill. John Warner, My experience was great, My surg for lapband was to be at 12noon, I had told my husbund that they would just have to put me under as soon as I got there needed to eb there at 10AM, well I arrived, this sweet kin nurse by name of Diane came to get me, I walked to my room, single room, she was very up beat, thank goodness, there were 4 other before me, some were already out in the hall walking, which I thought was encouraging!!!.She started my IV, then My antibiotic, because I had my knees replaced in May, so I have to have a dose of a strong anti. before any type of surgery. well then we watched tv talked Diane was in and out talked about everything, then about 11:45 Got a shot in stomach, blood thinner, to help with blood clots, oh forget to tell you ,one of the first thing they did when I got there was put those blow up tube like things on your legs, to help with circulation. Right at 1200 they came in, ask if I needed to use the bath room, which of course I did, tthen was off, I remember going into surgery, they were all talking with me, had me move over , anithesist said now I want you to just close you eyes and relax, the lights are really bright in here, the next thing I remember someone was calling my name and asking how felt, and on a scale of 1 to 10 what would I gage my pain,I can remember asking if I could go over 10, nurse laughed and said would like to keep it in that range, said ok, a big 10. She gave me moraphine twice, was in surgery 11/2 hours, recovery 45min, and back to the room by 2pm, by this time was awake, would kind of go in and out, not a deep sleep just sleepy and dizzy. not much pain at all ,very bad sore throat, from the tube I am sure. and the port sight was alittle sore about a 6 out 10. very dizzy, I mean I really had to concentrate on one object to keep the room from going crazy, no nausea, but they had given me something extra for that because I told them that I have been known to come out from being under, vomiting bad, so they addressed that. Had 4 inch size areas, and the port which is about 3-4 inches long on the left side, now that has been the one that has caused my the discomfort but not that much, Got liquid loritab, which with liquid tyl took pretty regular for about 24 hours, then started to take the tyl during the day and stronger at night. Had the surg at 12 noon Friday 25th, home on the couch at 8:30 that night, had aabout 90min drive from Hospital to my Home. and was back to work on Wed. 30th. I am a triage nurse for Family Practice Dr. so my job is a sit down. but I was so tired when I came home didn't know If I would make it through the whole day or not, took today 31st off I have my 5 day check up at 1pm, all in all it wasn't bad, I know we are all different, each of us has a different pain level, I just made my mind up that I had faught so long and hard to do this nothing was going to make it a bad experience. Becky BELIEVE.
  8. Well got home last night from John Warner, about 8pm I was his last one for the day, couldn't sleep very well as you all have said, that left shoulder and my port, but other than that , that has been the only discomfort, little dizzy, but think thats because of no food, an lots of pain paids.. Love you all will be back to talk with you all later, nap time.:hurray:

Oh! I forgot to tell you all the very most important thing that I started the thread for, I am so nervous, worried, scared, and excited, all at the same time, and on occ. I ask myself if I have made the right decision, I have had both knees replaced 2 times in the last 2 years, My husband says, If I can go through that, I can do anything, but I don't know,I have been praying daily the Lord our Father will take a few minutes and accompany me that day.....

Well my surgery is this coming Friday, Jan25th at 12 noon, being older I'll be 60 in Feb, is that going to make a difference in my recovery, I have planned to go back to work on the following Wed if possible. I am a nurse and I work as a triage nurse, sitting at the phones, so at least I won't be up on my feet for 8hours a day.I am so thankful to have found this group, Most all the sights I have been on are young people just starting their lifes, I have been around awhile and would like to remain a few more years, have been heavy all my life and tried every diet known to man, and some I made up, I have a very good imagination!!!!!! Once again, I feel so Blessed to have found you all!!! thank you. Becky
