You know, just to add my two cents. Instead of the chocolate milk, try carnation instand Breakfast. It will give you more nutrients, Protein, etc which will be helpful because you are eating so little. I also put in a tablespoon of dry milk powder for extra protein and a squirt of chocolate sauce to make it more chocolatey!

Sorry Tricia, but i chuckled as i read yours. I think that only we could laugh because we have experienced this and realize that is not actually all that big a deal.
I don't like to PB in a resturant's bathroom, i don't want the other customers to think it was because of the food. I have no problem though going outside and doing it, even if there is a person or two who can see (but not too close!).

Last night I was coming home from a chinese dinner out and had a major PB in my car. I am exactly a year after surgery and have eaten in this resturant a hundred times. Luckily I was alone in the car.
OK here is the sad part - my car is only three weeks old! I have vowed to keep this car clean. My old car was ten years old and majorly filthy (mostly from all those fast food meals that I ate in it). My co-workers laughed when someone bought the car from me in that horrible state.
I had such pain, i was trying to pull over somewhere but didn't make it. I had a handful of napkins but it wasn't near enough. I did pull over and clean everything up but I still know that it is no longer "new". I PB'd twice more on the way home (the resturant was less than 20 minutes from home) but I was able to pull over and get out both of those times.
I have tried so hard to keep that car clean and now it will never be clean again :phanvan
OK so I'm being a bit melodramatic
Where is the worst or embarassing spot that you have PB'd

I too just happened upon this thread. Last night I had the world's biggest restrition problem. It didn't hit me until today that I must have the TOM problem!

I have the same issue. I got my third fill (after more than 6 months without a new one) two weeks ago and have lost almost nothing! Same as you about eating less, exercising the same. Oh well, i am definately in it for the long run, so let's see what happens.

Hey I feel like I qualify for this club. I was banded in June of 05. I have lost 50 pounds. The first 35 came withing the first three months because I was on liquids for 6 weeks. I have lost 5 pounds since about october. I went to the doctor about a month ago and we jointly decided to wait another month for another fill since i still occasionally pb and i often feel restriction (at least once a day). Also we decided to wait because I had lost like 4 pounds due to a stomach virus the weekend before I went to the doctor. Of course I have gained that back.
I also got a surprise when the doctor said "well you have lost 50% of your weight so you might lose another 10 pounds since the lap band lets you lose about 60% of your goal weight" Well i didn't come here to lost only 60% of my goal weight!
So what do you say, can i join this illustrious club?

Harley Nana - how do you know how much muscle you have gained? I am trying to figure that out myself.

I don't know what i would do if I was in your position. Maybe i would try to stop eating altogether! I definately would keep exercising and I would definately cry all the time.
Take heart, you are almost near your goal weight. You have done great so far. Keep exercising and eating right. I wonder if the adhesions on your stomach will kind of act like a band and limit your intake. Let us know how you are doing
Best wishes

My doctor just left his practice and started another one in Hamilton which is right outside Trenton. I have no idea if he will do this for you but i know that he is looking to build his patient base.
His name is Earl Noyan and he is located in Hamilton NJ. I don't have his number with me but I know that he works out of Robert Wood Johnson Hospital in Hamilton, NJ.

i've had my band a little longer than most who have responded - I got it in june of 05. I have tiny little pains espcially when i do some exercises when i am twisting. I believe my band is very close to the skin - I mean not really sunk down alot. I can always feel the port. I am going to the doctor in a few weeks and am going to ask if there are any exercise restrictions. I wouldn't want to do something that my harm it.
-
i always ask myself the same questions. I had my last fill in august. I get restriction some days but can eat alot of food. some days i can eat a particular and some days i can't. I might go for like a week with little restriction and then go like three days where everything hurts. I am going to the doctor in like three weeks and am going to ask for like .25 if he will do it - i already have 3 ccs.
-
Well i have decided to eat better this week and see if that helps. By eat better i mean more healthy Snacks or no snacks at all if i can help it. That will also help me realize exactly how long i stay full. I know i am getting back into my pre-surgery bad habits.
-
Well from what you said I would think a fill wouldn't hurt. I can't eat a sandwich at all. The only bread I can eat is an almost burnt english muffin or really crusty italian bread. I like being restricted because I don't have to make the decisions, my stomach has decided for me!
-
I didn't feel any restriction until i reached 3 ccs which i reached on my second fill. It seems like alot of doctors go very slowly with the fills so don't lose hope. I am sure that there are lots of people out there who are losing slowly to begin with. I was lucky (I can say that now) because my doctor required 6 weeks of liquids after surgery so that is where i lost most of my weight.
-
Just to go back to the origional question. Restriction is funny - not funny ha ha, funny curious. I was banded in June and have 3 ccs. Mornings I have alot of restriction. Most lunch times I can eat without having to stop and let things pass but most evenings I have real restriction. Some foods I can eat one day and not the other. Some days, if I am really lucky, I can have a little crusty italian bread. Some days a cookie hurts and other days it doesn't. The only thing I see consistancy with is that the longer between the times i eat, the more restriction I feel.

Good for you - April is right around the corner

You both are right. I have not been writing down my calories. I do try to get that Protein in first especially since i do alot of exercise. Just today at work two people asked me if i was losing weight. I thought by now everyone knew that I had the lap band. It was nice to get the compliments

3.0 in a 4.0 band. Have been this way since september and feel restriction with alot of meals but i know what i can and can't eat. Am scheduled for a little fill in three weeks

I was banded in June of 2005 and have lost 48 pounds so far. I haven't lost weight in about 2-3 months but I have dropped sizes because I am going to the gym and doing cardio and weights. I am filled 3ccs in a 4 cc band. I definately have restriction - most meals I have to stop at least a few times to let things go down. My problem is that I can eat a ton of food and the non-existant weight loss. Should I get a fill of like 1/4 cc? I have always been able to eat more than the other people in my support group. I know that i am not losing weight because i am building muscle but i think that i should still be losing something because i do cardio at least 30 minutes 4 times a week. I definately am not the perfect dieter, i will eat some small amounts of higher calorie food.
I have a doctors appt at the end of this month. I am leaning towards asking for a small fill. Any ideas or opinions? I will appreciate all.
Thanks
-
Well I am wondering if the doctor thinks that it will be unhealthy if you have another fill. You don't have that much more to lose. Maybe the doctor and you just have a difference of opinion. It might be a good idea to get a second opinion like it's been suggested
-
Oh my gosh, I really feel for you. I only lost half of what you did and have no idea what i would do if I had to have my band out! Good luck to you
-
Oh darn, I was really hoping to try it once it became "over the counter". My friends and I were gonna buy one bottle and share it to see who could tolerate it and who couldn't.

Thank you all so much, this is a great group, better than any support group that i have attended in person!
