PrincessSparkle reacted to wannaBthinsoon in Cheated every day of 7 day pre op diet
Ever since they took my soaps off the air, some of these threads are a pretty good substitute. I imagined I saw some hair pulling, and some name calling, and hair flipping going on. We are a support group. But start up a thread where you admit you are cheating can cause some real people with real feelings want to jump through these pages and make you see the light. I am truly happy you postponed, because as I said a few pages back, IMHO you aren't ready. Maybe you are now. But the people who have been there and done that know what a mistake it would've been to go ahead with the surgery if you had cheated. Do you realize the liquid diet is to shrink your liver? If your Doc gets in there and see's a fatty liver, he may close you up and say...come back when you're ready. OR...a Greedy Doc will perform OPEN surgery and gut you like a fish. Afterall...You signed a paper that said he could. So folks are just looking out for you so you have the best and healthiest outcome. All the best. Sherrie

That is no friend. I've had people in my life like that before. Cut them off cold turkey! Being alone is far better than being with someone like that. It is cruel. You are brave and working to change your life. Please, drop that "friend" asap. I promise you will be glad later.

Thanks for the info! Sorry you're feeling tired. And, yes, having real food may help with that. I will be in the hospital for 2 days and then move to a hotel for 2 days before heading back to San Diego, where I am actually staying one more day! So, maybe that will work fine.
1/4 cup of food in a meal? Wow! I find that hard to imagine! Physiological changes upcoming! And also the visual cues. Half a cup sounds like a ration in an orphanage or something!

Good Luck Micky71. I live in Calgary and self-paid for surgery in Mexico in May 2014. My family doc has been super supportive. Luckily I've had absolutely no complications, but was t aware of being refused treatment here simply because I'd had the surgery elsewhere.

Thanks everyone for such great feedback. I truly appreciate it. I am confident with my decision of going to OCC and I will pose these questions to Carolyn and see what she has heard. Im so excited about this decision. I know its right for me. The Dr even ended our appointment again saying im a great candidate and have realistic expectations of the journey associated with this surgery. Its great to hear OCC is good at post op communications... hearing that gives me more confidence in my research and decision. Thnaks again.

Hi! I'm from Calgary, although I just had sleeve surgery a week ago in Medicine Hat. I'd love to cultivate a good support group, online or in person.

PrincessSparkle reacted to onajournee in What are your thoughts regarding Bananas?
I know for a fact there is a lot of nutritional info that I do know better than my NUT. I've asked many questions that she looks at me cross eyed when I ask and I can tell doesn't have an answer for and isn't educated about. The NUT's at my weight loss facility are very singularly focused on the center's pre set weight loss plan and schedule which for convenience and financial gain includes a lot of the supplements they sell which are full of preservatives, artificial colorings, flavorings, and sweeteners.
I so agree that counting carbs post op shouldn't be necessary. Unless of course you aren't doing what you're supposed to be and eating sweets and junk food. Then you have bigger problems than carbs. I know someone posted you don't need any carbs in a day, but people please do your research about that! The process of converting only Proteins to glucose for your body, and being in ketosis all the time come at price to your body, your brain, you kidneys, muscles, lots of things. Look up the long term effect of high Protein, low carb diets, it's very clear. Our bodies were designed to eat a balanced diet. I'm sure we threw that balance off with bad eating habits or we wouldn't have needed WLS, but this is a chance to do over and do it right. I'm thinking of this as a chance to finally be done with fad and extreme diets and very low carb is one of them.

Premier Protein chocolate, skim milk and 1 small banana (or 1/2 big one) is a staple for me...I have it at least 3-4 times a week. So I'm getting banana carbs AND milk carbs. I also eat berries, peaches, apples, pancakes, and have partaken in tiramisu, ice cream, cake and wine on a few occasions. None of these treats made me crave more of them. I don't count or weigh or track anything so I have no clue how many carbs I get in a day. I'm living my life, loving my sleeve, and everything in moderation.
That being said, I've lost 75 pounds in less than 6 months, so I'm thinking the bananas are not the evil fruit that exist to halt our weight loss progress. At least not for me.

PrincessSparkle reacted to pixigrl in Biggest regrets about getting the sleeve?
My biggest regret is the lack of energy. I have orthostatic hypotension (dizzy when I stand up fast) due to low blood pressure. I find that I'm having it way more often. And yes, I drink all my Water and get my food in. As far as eating is concerned it's a bit wasteful to eat out at times. I would LOVE to have leftovers the next day, but some things just don't keep. I find that a "side" of something holds me over. I also kind of miss the length of the meal. Does that make sense? Umm..I'm done eating in 7 minutes and have to wait for everyone else to finish. It's weird, I know, but it kind of changes the experience.
