  1. I just had surgery on Tuesday. I was noticing that the first couple days as well, but it's pretty much gone now. I even tried drinking larger sips and it still felt OK. Hang in there!!!
  2. Surgery is scheduled for Tuesday and I am having a minor freak out! I have been worried all morning and can't stop crying. I have a massage scheduled or tomorrow and apparently need to take a Xanax today. I started my liquid diet last Monday and am down 10.1 pounds today, so that is good. Once I got my surgery date, I went through a week or so of just feeling that something awful was going to happen. I got past that and have been doing OK until today. I just need to get out of my head!!!! Thanks for any words of wisdom or encouragement! Karen

    Oct 14th sleeves

Hey there! Doing OK. At home now. I am working on the end of a Protein shake. I've only had 15 ounces to drink today, but they said they are OK with that as long as it is increasing each day. Still getting some pain with VERY small sips. Did you get Lovenox or another blood thinner while you were in the hospital?

    4 Wks Post Op Miserable

Did you doctor give you anything to keep your sleeve "calm"? I'm taking Prilosec and they also gave me something sublingual to help with nausea.

    Newbie looking for Oct sleevers!

Do any of you notice that sensation when you swallow? I talked to a guy that was sleeved the same day and he said he had it. I take sips that are so small I hardly have any Fluid. It goes down and then the gas bubble(?) comes painfully back up. It was getting a little better w/just Clear liquids but when I put some Protein in Water, it does it every single time. and then a few times when I'm not even swallowing.....

How are you guys doing?? I should be going home today. Looking forward to that!! Gas pains are horrible today for some reason! Mainly when I swallow. I can feel it go down and the. It's like a gas bubble coming back up! Yuck!!!
  7. Check out GNC. The wheybolic 60 is pretty good and meets the requirements. I just use one scoop. Vanilla is good. Strawberry tastes a little chemically but the chocolate is to DIE for!! Not to sweet but just enough!

    Newbie looking for Oct sleevers!

Not sure if I posted this yesterday in my drugged out stupor. Gas pain is no joke! OMG I was sooooo uncomfortable. A little discomfort now under my boobs and left side. Throats a little scratchy. Walking does help but I think I over did it!! On clears today and that's a little uncomfortable - I swallow and it almost seems like a gas bubble coming back up. VERY pretty black and blue incision where they pulled my stomach out! Should be going home tomorrow! Hope everyone is doing well!! Karen PS - let's hear it for hot nurses and nurses aids! Must be my lucky night!!

    Newbie looking for Oct sleevers!

Hey everyone! SOOOOOOOO irritated. Woke up this morning with my stomach upset. No fever so I don't know if this is just nerves or what. But then the hospital just called and I don't have to be there until 12:15. Seriously!?!? So liquid diet for a week, Clear liquids today and nothing after midnight tonight. And I have to wait until 12:15?! UGH!!
  11. Same here. My stomach has not felt great all day. The hospital just called with my arrival time. 12:15! Which means by the time I get back there and get all set up, surgery isn't going to be until like 2:30. I am sooooo irritated. Liquid diet for a week. Clear liquids today and nothing to eat or drink after midnight! Ugh!!

    DISAPPOINTED & ANGRY

Take your measurements if you haven't already. I agree with the working out. Start with aerobic exercise 30 minutes a day and gradually increase. My surgeon wanted me starting at 30 and building up to 60 daily before surgery. I am supposed to be at 60-90 minutes after surgery. Make sure to do strength training also (weights). Women don't have enough testosterone to "bulk up", which a lot of women worry about. Muscle burns fat more efficiently and as Roo said, it will help to shape your body! You can do it!! I go in tomorrow and I'm currently in my manic, excited phase!! Keep working! (Also try some exercises/activities you may not think you are interested in - yoga, zumba - you may find some things that you really enjoy doing!) Have a great day and good luck! Karen

    Am I alone here?

Thanks ladies! @@cdenney123, your diet sounds the same as mine. I am supposed to get a call tomorrow with the time for Tuesday. I just want to get through this and move on with the recovery!

  16. I'm really surprised by some of the pre-op things some surgeons do but others don't. I have surgery on Tuesday and have been on a liquid diet since Monday and it's been tough. But from the time we went to the very first information session, they gave us things to do: At least 1 meal a day, chew each bite 35 times. Starting that day, work on cutting out caffeine and carbonated beverages and start not drinking before and after meals. There are things I am worried about, and right now I would sell my husband for some nachos, but I think these things aren't going to be as bad since they are things I've been doing for months now.

Alright - I "may" have chewed and then spit out a spoonful of veggies and rice from the tortilla Soup broth I "ate" tonight.....

    Food panic attack

I've been cursing whoever came up with the liquid diet today! I was soooo hungry! This is only day 3 and surgery is 10/14. When I get that hungry, I try to drink a bunch of Water. It's hard, but it will all be worth it right!? (I would LOVE to get some good ideas for what to do with/for broth! I'm already sick of it!) Karen

Had my final visit before surgery. The liquid diet is BRUTAL!!! I had regular chicken noodle Soup broth today and it was amazing instead of the plain old chicken broth. What have you all been using? I'm ready to get this going!! Karen

    Looking for 10/13 surgery buddies

I'm not the 13th, but is the 14th close enough??? I would do really bad things for some Mexican food right now, but I guess that's why I'm in this situation! Have you come up with any good ideas for broth? Good luck on Monday!

Hi! I'm also scheduled on 10/14. I go in tomorrow for my last pre-op weigh in. I have also been fighting a cold for over a week (have managed not to get it so far but the symptoms are hanging on the edge) - it's driving me nuts!!! Good luck to you! Karen
  22. Here I sit, reading your post, finishing up a sugar free popsicle and typing this with mean fingers. I would GLADLY gnaw someone's arm off right now and not even think twice!!!

    Newbie looking for Oct sleevers!

Started the pre-op liquid diet today. Actually - I did it during the day last week and then watched what I ate for dinner. It was so much different today knowing I HAD to do it instead of just doing it to get used to it. One more week! I'm ready to get on with this if only to move beyond the liquid diet!!!! How's everyone else holding up?

  25. Has anyone had a cold at the time they were supposed to be sleeved? My date is October 14 and my husband and several co-workers have had colds. I have been trying to avoid getting a cold because I am so scared they will postpone surgery (again)! Anyone have any experience with this?? Thanks! Karen
