Convincing My Husband
when I told my husband that this is a choice I wanted to look into he felt the same way, he said maybe I should diet and excersize for a few more years before making a decision like this. I told him I have been working at it for the past 5 years...nothing is changing, my knees are hurting,I have constant migraines...I need to do something now. I showed him all of the research that I did, showed him the pros and cons of the option I selected (Sleeve) and why it's safe. After showing him all of that data he was 100% behind me and my decision. I know it's scary for them because they dont' want to lose us, or see us hurting, just show him that it's all ok. I am 33 and I will be 3 months out of surgery on 7/30, I am already down 65 lbs and feel AWESOME! I know you can do it! good luck!

Rough situation, I would say if you can afford it, go ahead and get her the TV. has your husband said anything to his brother about her Social Security check? maybe explain that she is worried she won't have enough money and that she should have that check for herself...the way the government intended it to go? Good luck! i hope this helps!

unkind drs
When I was 8 months pregnant with my son, my OB told me that if I don't lose the weight right after he was born I wouldn't be alive to see him graduate...WHO COULD TELL A PREGNANT WOMAN THAT? Seriously. My Knee surgeon told me that I need to look into a drastic change in order to save my knee from needing a replacement, he recommended that I look into weight loss surgery. it broke my heart to hear that but he was telling me the truth. The way your doctor approached it was VERY innapropriate. I don't understand why some of these doctors don't have better bedside manners. In my head I always told myself...I can lose the weight but you can't fix your personality we are all beautiful!

"When I finally lose the weight I am excited to...."
Running around with my kids! Energy! Rollercoasters!! crossing my legs!! buying clothes at ANY STORE!!! going on vacation and packing LESS clothes, mirrors, playing softball (and making it to 1st base!!)...it's all so exciting!! I have to say the most devistating part of being overweight was this past march we took the kids (Ages 3 and 4) to Disneyland...I got on a ride and the lap bar wouldn't secure...I was too big. My sweet babies didn't understand what was going on and started crying, So I was upset everyone was looking at me as the fat mom who couldn't take her kids on a ride, I just felt like my whole world was crushed. My sweet daughter came off the ride and told my husband, mom can't ride because she is too tall so daddy took them on the ride and they had a blast. I NEVER want to experience that again. This momma WILL ride all of the rides and not worry if I am going to fit into the seat! Sleeve on!

Why hide it?
I have told everyone, I wanted the most support from everyone that I encounter so that they would catch me if I was ever faced with a difficult decision. My family was more than supportive, My co-workers are very sensitive around me which really shows how much they care about me. Some are curious as to why I made the decision, the triggers, how I am doing, after effects, that sort of thing. I don't mind sharing at all because I am a very open person and if I can help motivate someone I am all for it. I do understand why some wish not to share their WLS journey. it is also a personal decision. I agree with the previous posters about the negative responses that people seem to give without any firsthand knowledge but they do that about different parenting styles as well...honestly, I did this for me. I don't care what anyone else thinks I am doing this for myself and my family. some people are just curious and may be considering it for themselves or a loved one, I will be 3 months out on the 30th of July and I am already down 65 lbs! I am rocking this sleeve and i applaude everyone else who has made this decision to LIVE!!

please mind your business
it's a worthy vent, I agree with you, do these people think that you haven't thought everything through and tried EVERYTHING else before taking this giant step? it's a personal decision and it's a great one I have made for sure! Good luck!

Just got home and need advice on how to
The biggest thing is don't take them after you have eaten or if you have wait the standard 45 min before drinking anything. I take mine first thing in the morning so I can do one at a time and drink it down with a small gulp. Good luck! it does get a lot better I promise you!

Gallbladder
If your surgeon will remove it during surgery I would request it, Mine was the worst pain I have ever been in when it went bad, and I have had 2 children. it feels like a heart attack, no position you get in will be comfortable it's really scary, However, they do give you medication after surgery that is supposed to help make sure that your gall bladder is ok after surgery so I don't know if they will go in and remove it if there is nothing wrong with it at this point. it's worth asking though!

Anyone in Iowa?
Hi!! I live in Clive, I went through Unity Point as well with dr lamasters. She is wonderful! In 2 months I am down 55 lbs and wouldn't regeret it for a second. I love all of the new energy that I have, I do still get hungry which they say some do experience. However, before i had surgery I was hungy all of the time and now not so much, it's a night and day difference for me, I am so happy I did it, feel free to ask any questions at all! Good luck!

Salads
I think I was about a month post op before I tried salads, I never had any issue with them and it makes me feel so much better when I have that instead of anything else.

Anyone Hungry?
I get hungry too, they said there is a % of people who will still get hungry. Just be mindful, I am 2 months out, what helped me early on was to drink more water and have jello, just chew it really good and you will be fine. trick your mind!
