    Getting anxious!

Seems like it takes forever doesn't it? with my group all of that stuff had to happen then there was a review by the board within the doctors office that seemed to take a few weeks too, then the appt where we got to pick the date. it will be here before you know it!! Good Luck!
  2. I have my 6 month appt on 10/24 I will be sure to let you know what I find out.

    Throwing up

Yup that was the same feeling I would get, take a bite and wait, then take a bite and wait...once you start to get that feeling then stop and see if you have the same issue, even if you can only get a couple of bites in you might be full...another thing is make sure you are waiting a full 40 min after eating before taking a drink, that will make you sick every time if you don't wait.
  4. I agree completely!! when you come out your stomach will tell you when you are full.I was also a HUGE Water drinker, you are NOT able to gulp down anything you will have to sip, you will adapt and all the crazy things you are thinking about now will become normal in time. baby steps...You can do this. it does get better. I remember in the beginning I could barely drink a sip all at once, I had to break it up in my mouth and take tiny sips as I went. Now I can take an actual drink of a glass, still can't gulp but at this point I wouldn't want to. The food gets easier as well. Most of the issues I ran into were mental. Training your brain that you don't NEED a heaping plate of something, then eventually you will learn your limits, you will listen to your body and know when just one more bite wont work. with me it was a feeling I got in my throat...if I ate one more bite, I would be uncomfortable so I trained my brain that when I feel that feeling...it's time to stop, walk away from the food. I was VERY honest with my friends, family, co-workers so they supported me when I needed to leave just to get up to walk away. It all gets easier...I am just over 5 months post op, I am LOVING my life, LOVING my decision, I am down 93 lbs as of this past saturday, I don't weigh in on my week of my period because I know I gain water weight etc...so I don't want to get discouraged by that. I will weigh in probably this weekend and then I always love seeing the drop! I wish you the best of luck! this site has been a great resource!

    Need some feedback

I was also lucky, I never had any pain associated with the surgery and never took any of the liquid pain killer, it's actually still sealed in my cabinet. I would probably bring that up to your surgeon do you have a 1 week post op follow up? Walking will help a lot but don't overdo it, use ice packs to help with the pain as well. I hope you feel better soon!! make sure you are also looking at the incisions to make sure they aren't infected at all.

    Throwing up

I know that in the first few months I really had to slow down when eating, really chew through each bite and the second you start to feel a little full or have that feeling like it's still in your throat to stop...then you won't get sick. about how many bites do you take before you start feeling sick? generally, and even now (5 months later) I have about a couple bites of something and I am full (Like a cheese stick is it) Hope this helps and I hope you feel better soon!

    Day 10 Post Op Question

It could be that you need to consume more in order to burn it, If your body is in starvation mode it could be in a stall. try taking in more protien, you are probably still on soft foods like applesauce etc...but try to give yourself some more food and that will help. Good luck!

    Celsius okay?

I am not familiar with it but I do know that carbonation/caffine is not good for you so if it contains either of those probably not.

Struggling - surgery in one week

Maybe trick your mind to say that your doc DID in fact require a liquid diet 3 days prior to surgery, take in protien, Soups, just stuff easy on your stomach and it will really help you to 1. lose some extra weight before surgery and 2. prepare you for the liquid diet that you start with after surgery. I am 5 months post op, I am down 93 lbs and to put your worries at ease a bit even if you go off the deep end and decide you want a cheeseburger at some point, you can't have more than a bite or two before your body will tell you that's too much and you will be done, then you will of had your taste and you can move on. It gets easier, believe me, so much easier to make the right choices, because you WANT to do this for you, you will WANT to take in the right stuff, not fall back on old habbits and junk food. Sure junk food happens but don't let it get you down, just work a little harder that day at the gym and make the next day better. You CAN do this and we are all here for you!!
  10. Amazing!! You look fantastic! Love your hair!! Congratulations!

    Halloween help

I am not sure what size it is if you bought it in a smaller size or if your worried it might be too big...the first month of my sleeve (I started at 320) I was down 26 lbs...EVERYONE IS DIFFERENT so please don't think that is the norm. you might have more you might have less. I also found that with my weight loss it seemed to go from the top down, I noticed it in my face/neck/shoulders before anything else started changing...I would think if it fits you now or is a little snug you would still be ok for new years...otherwise, if it's black I say go witchy!! get a pointed had and celebrate! Hope this helps! Good luck with your surgery!!

Need your Help/Advice - 5 months post Op

Quick update my surgeon also recommended I go and see my Primary Care doc...I went in this afternoon and got a full blood panel taken. They all seem to think it's Low Potassium is the reason, but they ordered a full panel JUST in case it could be anything else, I hope to have results soon so we can figure this out. This morning was not fun that's for sure!

Need your Help/Advice - 5 months post Op

I really appreciate all of the comments, the last bloodwork that I did I was low in Potassium and Vit A. Just had bloodwork last week A is good, need to check Potassium again for sure. I think I am getting in enough Water but Dehydration could also play a part as well as Iron, these are all very good things to check. I agree with everyone and REALLY appreciate all of the support. I have a call into the nurse now and waiting for a call back, my surgeon is in surgery today so I don't know that I will be able to see her but I will for sure have someone take me in when and wherever I go today. Thanks for the Birthday wishes!! maybe it's just getting older? ha ha only kidding... I will let you all know what I find out! Thank you Thank you!

    Officially lost 100lbs :)

Congrats!! that is amazing!! So proud!
  17. it certainly is very exciting!! I love that I can go to ANY Store pick a shirt up and say yup I like it, I am buying it and I am TOTALLY NOT TRYING IT ON!! ha ha!! drives my mom nuts as she has to try on EVERYTHING this was the best decision I have ever made! (Besides marrying my husband and having my beautiful children of course )
  18. It does get better!! I am 4.5 months post op and I play softball now and I actually can sprint!! it was amazing!! I am down 88lbs so far and I have SOOO much more energy and my knee doesn't hurt anymore! this was the best decision but I had a REALLY hard time in the hospital and just out of it, I couldn't stop throwing up at the hospital they had me WAY over medicated. Felt good to get home and get things figured out on my own. Keep at it!! it all gets better as you go!

    Lack of Support

I am so sorry about all of the people you have around you, it is most certainly harder without a good support network behind you. What I do know is 4 months out I am down 86 lbs and feel better than I have in YEARS and I know that you will too. There are support groups that are normally within your practice when you have surgery so I would use them to the full extent, see if you can find some local sleevers to help you out, I would be happy to be on your team as I am very PRO Sleeve. A message to your co-worker, IT'S NOT EASY that's for sure...it's a uphill battle to make sure that you get in all of the Vitamins and nutrients that your body needs. Sounds like a very uninformed individual and shame on them for even saying that. I decided that this was the year for ME, I always put everyone ahead of myself and in order for me to get better for them (Husband and kids) I need to be better for myself. You do this for yourself hun and in a couple of months all those co-workers will be jealous of the hot new you!! WE are all here for you, don't think for a moment you are alone!

    Life is awesome

I couldn't stand the flinstones and my doctor let me go ahead and try the centrim vitamins, I seem to be doing well with them for the past month or so and I am 4 months out. Your pics look great!! well done!!

    Stomach pain 10 months out

    Could it be gas pain?
  23. From what I learned in my sessions it wasn't that you would mess up the sleeve it was that you would have a hard time taking in enough nutrition for you and your baby...so you will have to REALLY make sure that you are getting in all of the right Vitamins and foods for both you and your little one. I agree with others posting, make sure you reach out to your doctor ASAP to find out what steps you should be taking now to have the best setup. Congratulations by the way!! what an exciting time!! I wish you the best for you and your family!

    TWO YEARS!

That is fantastic!! so great to hear!
  25. One thing that I found that helped pre surgery was to get my mind off of it, I know I know easier said than done, but if I grabbed a bottle of Water and went for a walk...there were no Snacks on my trail and when you go for a walk you stop thinking about food. It will get better, try eating something more filling like cottage cheese or grab a low fat cheese stick or something and get walking. I know before my surgery if I got hungry at night I would just go to bed, seems silly but it worked. I wish you the best of luck!! you can do it!
