  1. I picked the bypass because i need to lose more than 100 pounds. And after talking with my weight loss specialist it seems to be the better option for me.

I'm disappointed that there is only one response here. I have a band (slipped), and would love to know whether the sleeve or bypass would be better or has worked better and why. Once you leave the land of the Banded, you really only have a few choices. And they're not reversible, anymore input would be awesome ????

I was a successful bander until it eroded .. Last year I revised to bypass . Sleeve wasn't even an option for me. Reason being I wasn't going to have "another wls surgery again" I wanted this to be the last one and my doctor said the sleeve is sometimes the first step to bypass.. I wanted the gold standard.. It's so much easier than the band was and I am wayyy healthier now than I was then. I can eat chicken and veggies no problem!!!!!

  2. I am a revision from band to bypass and honestly bypass for me has been soooo much easier than the band ever was. I am below my goal weight and loving life!!! Good luck!

What was your start weight and what are you at now? How long did it take you? Did you have to exercise a lot. Sorry for all the questions. I am 1 month pre op and asking away :)

I had to gain weight for my revision.. So I was 245 day of revision. I got down to 156. I now fluctuate because I love White Russians lol I never exercised. Took 9-10 months.

  3. I'm really wanting to know about laser resurfacing on your face. Living at the beach all my life has left me with spots....

Of course haven't sunned in decades but still those reminders....

    Cost? If you don't mind.

    Level of pain?

    Healing looks rather quick.

Your neck looks fabulous!! Lucky younger you!

    .

Total cost for face lift and FF laser was $14,500.. I think just the laser was $4,000 but I'm not sure.. 0 level of pain. I honestly never had pain at all. I took Vicodin first 3 days religiously but never felt any pain. I'm a huge baby so that's big lol I feel great!!!!!!! 9 days out post-214397-14421349617155_thumb.jpg

  4. I can't decide if I should get my boobs done or not. Are you happy with yours?

I love mine! I have DDD though lol my hubby asked the doc what size he suggested and my doc said I have never had any one say they wish they went smaller.. Everyone said they wished they went bigger.. Hubby said put the biggest you have in stock in lol.. I love them :) love not having to wear a bra.. Love they don't sag.. They are awesome.

    Holy smokes! Looks great!

    thanks!

  5. You are going to love the bypass! I was revised from band to rny may 2014. I am below my goal weight which is a normal bmi. I wear a size 6 and honestly I am so much healthier than I was with the band. The band worked for me but I could never lose the last 20 pounds and I had a lot of sliming and throwing up. I have had no sliming and haven't thrown up at all! It's so much easier than the band. Wish I had done it first lol good luck!

Allie, I kind of relate Im thinking about taking my band out too, i have more than 20 to loose but my husband dosent think im bypass worthy because i dont have 100 pounds to loose. Do you find it hard to keep yourself nurrished?
absolutely not. I'm healthier with my bypass than I ever was with the band. I was anemic with the band but I am not with the bypass. All my numbers have been amazing. I take sublingual Vitamins. Honestly I just wish I had done the bypass first. I did have to have my band unfilled (so terrifying) to gain 40 pounds to be eligible for the bypass revision. I did it in 5 weeks lol gaining weight is easy!!!!! Lol!

Did insurance pay for your revision, if I may ask? If you only had the last 20 LBs to lose, did you have problems getting approved? Co-morbidities? I have 65 LBs to lose with major GERD, asthma, arthritis, knee replacement, kidney cancer, pre-diabetic, high lipids, horrible back pain, not to mention vomiting and sliming even with all restriction removed--yet have been told by UHC the revision is not medically necessary but "patient failure." I've hired Lindstrom Obesity Advocacy to handle my appeal, but am curious about your history. You look quite beautiful in your photo!

    Thanx!

I was self pay for my band and for my revision. I had my band unfilled and had to gain 40 pounds to qualify to be revised (crazy) but I did it and lost all the 40 plus 30 more. I was revised because my band had eroded. The band was a success for me until then. Best money I ever spent. I look it like this.. Most people don't bat an eye to buy a new car but to invest in your body is crazy.. I find my body the very best thing to invest in. I could drive a junk car and wouldn't care.

    Well you look absolutely amazing.

    thank you soooo much!!!

  8. Just had meeting with surgeon on May 29, 2015, my surgery date is August 5, 2015. I started this journey last year in November 2014, researching, classes, etc. I am ready, more excided than afraid. I have second guess myself at times, but it doesn't last long. The only concern I do think about is the extra skin, but at the end of the day I am going for better health.

I can promise that the extra skin won't bother you as much as you think.. Being thin really makes it ok. I did have plastics but before I did I was thrilled to be thin even with extra skin.

  10. I am 4 months out down 57 and would do it again and again. I feel amazing. Honestly to me any complications are better than living with the morbid obesity hanging over my head. I would have definitely died from some obesity related disease. I am 25 pounds from my normal bmi and loving life.

update! I am just over a year out and am below my goal weight which was a normal BMI no complications and I'm healthier than I have ever been!!!

  11. Hi Everyone,

I've been looking into weight loss surgery for some time now and just had my first consultation with a surgeon. I'm leaning towards having the lap band and wanted to get some opinions/advice from people that have had the surgery. I'd love to hear the good, bad and the ugly so I know what I'm getting into. Here are some questions I have. Don't feel like you have to answer all these questions! Just looking to hear some opinions on the surgery.

    Thanks in advance!!! ????

-What is a typical meal like? Either breakfast, lunch or dinner. Everything I hear makes it seem like so much of what you eat comes back up and a lot of the healthy foods, like Proteins and vegetables won't stay down

    - How are your incision scars?

-can you feel the band around your stomach or is it just the port you're able to feel?

-do you experience any heartburn or acid reflux because of the lap band?

    - any real negatives or anything that's been really great?

-what are some of the toughest aspects of being banded?

    - any advice you have for someone looking to get the band in the near future?

hi I was banded in June 2008 lost all my weight and kept it off. Started having problems in 2014 and found out my band had eroded. I was devastated. The band was hard work! I was successful but I had lots of fills and still threw up a lot with weird things like meat but could eat a sleeve of Oreos. I was revised to bypass on May 21, 2014 so I just hit a year. I'm doing awesome wish I had had the bypass first. It's so much easier and I'm so much healthier!!! Crazy but true!!! I was anemic with the band but not with the bypass. Please message me for my info if you want. I who used to be a huge advocate for the band now am anti band and pro bypass. Best thing ever was getting my bypass I'm thinner, healthier and happier than I have ever been!!!!
