  1. Hi ladies, well its out. smooth recovery. I understand your worries, those are mine. did I learn good eating habits in these two and half years. I cant answer that question. when I was able to eat, I ate a lot. the one good thing I did learn to do was excercise. I work out 5 days a week. Water arobics M-Th and on saturdays I take a two hour class that vary's from zumba, arobics, kick boxing follow by core and free weights.

my thoughts on this whole process have been excitment, anger, frustration. I dont regret any of it

  2. I never asked the question, I will find out tomorrow. I'm done with weight loss surgery at this time. gastric bypass was never an option, it scares me I'm actually looking forward to a normal life. no more eating soft foods, going the whole day with only protien drinks and then over eating when I could eat. my goal is now to maintain the 60 pounds lost and being mentally and physically healthy through excercise and eating properly.

I was starting to lose it, the band took alot out of me.

  3. hi ladies, I will be having my band removed this Monday due to kink in tubing and esophagus dialation. my stythoms also included night coughing and coughing after meals. dont blame your self. the coughing is due to a too tight band. basically want happens is the food sits too long in the esophagus causing it to stretch. I dont know what problems this can cause and dont want to take any chances. I was going to have the port and tubing replace but decided at the last moment to have the band removed.

  4. Hi ladies, its been awhile since I last posted. I seen the doc. today and decided to have my band removed. I was scheduled for port revision in april and the week of surgery changed my mind. I should be having surgery in the next few weeks.

I feel its the best choice. The past year and a half have been difficult, I was vomiting, burping excessively, coughing and basically unhappy with the whole thing.

I'm still taking my Water aerobics class and have lost 10 pds. I'm getting stronger and now taking classes on saturday. they can vary from kickboxing, zumba, ect.

ladies keep up the good work.

    Sandy

  5. I'm still waiting for my port replacement, no date set

Sherry, what did your doctor say about pouch dialation? is the the same as eshopagal dialation. can it be caused by overeating? I think I should sit down and have another talk with my doctor

how exciting about your plastics. my goal was to get down to under 200 and have a Tummy Tuck, but at this time I need to focus on this band and figure it out what my next step should be.

I cant believe how much I'm enjoying my Water arobics class, I also am doing free weights 3 days a week. I found some great routines in the March prevention magazine. I will continue to be positive and take it a day at a time.

  6. Hi ladies, I just got my florascopy(?) results and have Esophageal dilatation that can be caused by a too tight band and to make matters worse, I have a kink in the tubing attach to the port so my doctor was unable to remove any saline.

I made the decision to have the tubing replace, minor surgery and take it from there.

I have good news to report, I joined a Water arobics class 4 days a week and am feeling so much better. I want to thank all of you for your encouraging words.

I still dont have access to a pc and can only check in occaisally.

    keep up the good work.

  7. ladies, went in to get an unfill and quess what? it seems that my band developed a slow leak. I did'nt understand because I've had problems with sliming and some vomiting. nothing major, just bothersome. The dr. has decided to have an x-ray done to check for slippage.

I'm so disappointed. I started to cry. I will find out next week.

I have 2 options, replace my band or gastric. I had told myself prior to surgery, that if I developed any complications I would not replace the band.

I dont want to do? I dont want to gain any weight.

I dont want to be fat again, yet I'm scared of any further complications.

  8. Hi Ladies,

my zumba classes are going well. latin music and dance. I'm happy to say that I have lost about 4 pounds.

at my doctors advice I am keeping a food journal. he wants to me eat 60 grams of protien a day. it has been difficult, the only protiens I'm familar with are eggs, cheese, yogurt, slice deli meats, nuts and of course protien bars or drinks and after a week of eating the same thing, becomes routine and boring.

My next stop was the nutricionist and he gave me some really good information, comparing soft foods (soups, mashed potatos) and hard foods (chicken, tuna, fruits and veggies) he reminded me of Portion Control and chewing my foods well. I love boiled eggs, but they tend to get stuck, solution mix with a little mayo. He wants me to introduce more fruits and vegtables and recommended dicing up my foods. its worth a try.

  9. its been awhile for me, congratulations to all you and your fantastic numbers.

I'm still struggling with my weight loss, the first year was great and after my unfill back in dec/jan, its been a struggle, but I am still full of hope, that the weight will start dropping off again.

I 'm having fun right now with "zumba" classes and am seeing the inches coming off.

    I wish everyone continued success

    Sandy

  10. Hi ladies, its been months since I last checked in. I have no new changes to report. I lost my mojo 6 months ago. no exercise, no self control. I wished I never got my unfill back in Dec. I been back to the doc. and cant find my sweet spot. I am so frustrated with myself and have lost all my motivation. and on top of that I gained close to 2o pds. does anyone have any suggestions ? I'm really considering by-pass

  11. Hi ladies

its been a couple of months since I've posted

no new changes, just frustrated. I gained 15 pds since my unfill in ? I dont even remember, back in Nov or Dec.

I have been in a slump and dont have no motivation.

I've been eating everything and anything, no excercise.

I do have an appt. on the 29th and will get a small fill.

everyone keep up the good work.

  12. Hi ladies,

can you believe it, 2009 is here!

its time for me to get back on the band wagon. I have been enjoying my food a little to much. My weight has not changed since my last weigh in. I now understand how easy it can be to gain weight back and don't want to go there.

My goal for this year is to lose another 25 Pd's and the only way I can accomplish this is start setting up small monthly goals.

I promise to start walking 3-4 days a week

I promise to get a fill on my next visit

I promise to drink plenty of Water

I promise to eat healthy foods

  13. happy anniversary! happy anniversary!

today is my 1 year anniversary. oh my gosh everyone looks/and doing fantastic. if you recall I had a slight unfill due to slimming and vomiting. I have been enjoying my food a little to much and loving it. I see myself losing control, eating way to much tamales and Cookies. I am down to a size 18 regular and womens. I cant recall the last time I wore a size 18, its has to be 10-15 years. I am so proud of myself! everyone keep up the good work. I hope to have pictures posted soon. my son surprised me with a new(used) computer and forgot to download my pics.

merry Christmas to everyone and wishing you all the best new year

  14. I bought a pair of size 18 Levis. its been over 20 years since I wore a pair of Levis. they are my favorite jeans. I have also been buying L tops in misses which sort of scares me. I hold the tops up and they look so small, I still cant believe that I can now wear them.

and Lane Bryant's I cant let them go. I still shop for some clothes there. I remember I used to complain all the time about all the small sizes they have there and now I can wear a small in tops and size 3 (too funny) in pants.

I am so proud of all of you. I don't post often but I would like to thank all of you for the support and encouragement when I most needed it.

hugs and bigger hugs to all of you

    Sandy

  15. I recently had .8cc removed, I suffered for about 2/12 months with sliming, vomiting, body aches. I finally got in to see the doc. and I asked to have 1cc removed, doc wanted to remove only .3cc and we both agreed on .5cc. During the procedure, my darling doc. decided to remove .8cc when I informed him I was coughing a lot during the night. he told me that was one of the many symptoms associated with a too tight bad.

you would not believe how wonderful I feel. I can eat normal again. no heartburn, no sliming, no vomiting, no more coughing and best of all no more body aches.

I agree with Tom, do not be aggressive with fills. start off slowly. I now have 2.2cc of fill and feel I am at my sweet spot. take your time, go slow and you too will find your sweet spot

    best of luck

  16. hola ladies,

everyone is doing great. we are now closer to the big 1 year anniversary.

Thanksgiving day was busy, I cooked all day and ate very little. being with my family was my source of nutrition for that day. I have 4 grown children and 8 grandchildren ( one only a week old) so you can imagine the full house.

I finally was able to see the Doctor today and had .8cc removed. I have been having problems with slimming and vomiting since my last appt. in August. It feels so good, when I got home I ate some leftover ham and stuffing, so delis. I was able to drink Water without burping between drinks.< /p>

I wanted to mention that my Doc. had a lab-band poster in his office with a graph mark yellow(need fill) green(perfect)and the red zone (unfill needed) the following are symptoms for unfill. heartburn, slow weight loss, vomiting and can you believe it COUGHING in the evening. which I had. It never crossed my mind that this unexplained coughing could be cause by a too tight band. I just assumed it was due to the cold weather.

of course I mentioned to the Doc. that I had all the above symptoms and was there for an unfill. I wanted 1cc removed, he wanted .3cc's we came to an agreement of .5cc's. so there I am on the table and he tells me "thats odd, the needles in the port, but nothing coming out" great! he massaged my tummy for a second and told me the tubing can sometimes get a little kink and decided to remove .8cc

I did panick for just a second, I thought the worst. I thought something was wrong with my band. I would need surgery but everything is fine:thumbup:

  17. ladies, everyone sounds cheerful and pumped up on our 11 month anniversary. I wont post my weight until 11/26. I been lazy and having problems with my fill. I did get to eat close to normal meals for the last 3 days, so I was quite happy

Teech, although I been married for over 30 years my husband and I have had our ups and downs and learning to live on your own after 2 1/2 years has to be hard. if you don't mind me asking? are you sure its over? you can still go out on dates. get to know each other again. did losing weight have anything to do with your separation? I wish you the best as you discover who you are and where you belong.

having faith and commitment in the lord has made my marriage stronger. its something to think about

    all the best

  18. Hi ladies,

its been awhile and its time to check in. I had a Doctor appt. today and my Doc. was not in, great I took a day off from work and was going to get a slight unfill. I have continued to lose weight but am not happy with how I'm losing. I eat very little, I suffer slime episodes at least 4 times a week. I know it has to do with how fast I'm eating and the food choses.

yesterday my family got together for dinner, we had chicken enchiladas, rice, Beans and a salad. I didn't even serve myself salad(can't tolerate it) had 1/2 an enchilada, maybe 2 tbs rice and beans

I knew I was full but of course tried to eat a little more ( I hate leaving the table, I want to sit and talk) next thing you know, the burping starts, then I PBing

it sometimes get depressing, I want to eat a regular meal and can't. I know I need to change my way of thinking. I need to come to terms with the fact that the amount of food I eat is normal for me. but damn, I want to serve me a large plate of salad and eat normal. there I go again with that nasty word, NORMAL. am I going crazy?

Have any of you gone through this? how can I overcome this?

  19. you are mourning the lost of a good friend. food. I also went through periods of mourning, but with time you will feel better.

when I awoke from my surgery, my mind was racing. I was thinking about what could happen, getting food stuck, slipped band, want if I lost my job and no longer had insurance. its normal.

If your depression continues, talk with your Dr.

    God bless
