  1. thats just around the corner. June the 23nd. how exciting.

has your daughter had her baby?

me enjoy summer, no way! the sun and I just don't get along.

we did go to Pine Crest this week-end. it was freezing, I thought I was going to freeze to death. we went hiking up to the damn. last year I completed to whole hike weighing in at close to 300, I will do it again this summer.

you can find pictures under general questions? I just was just on that site, they are all an inspiration to me.

I logged my before and after on albums, but my pictures are blocked to the public and I don't know how to unblock them

I have been struggling with my last fill, have problems with food and sliming (ugh)I have to work on my chewing. the weight loss has slowed down, I trying to get my lazy butt back to walking, I really lagging, I know excercise is the key to losing weight, I just been going to so mcuh these last couple of months.

my goal is to be at 199 by Dec. 26. my 1 year anniversary. got about 38 lbs to go.

I lost my mother 5/21. and just recently been back on-line.

my faith in Jesus has kept me going.

keep me posted on your progress, have you started your Prue-op diet, try your hardest to stick to it. try to walk everyday, even if for only 5/10 mins. practice your chewing now, make it a habit.

    talk to you soon

    Sandy

    Devastated!

I would definitely look into the exclusion. my mother was hospitalized for 5 weeks at Kaiser (Santa Clara) and I saw poster for bariatric surgery
  4. Wow Gilmore, I glad everything worked out well for you. scar tissue, thats scary, I have a few friends that suffered terribly with scar tissued that formed after surgery. like you, I often wondered about rejection. we do have a foreign object in us. I do take cq10 which my Doc recommended before surgery and after. it supposed to help you heal faster. all my concerns have been put to rest. fill was a success, no more pain. I guess the Doc. was right, just a pulled muscle I would like all by band family to pray for my mother Rose, she is terminally ill with advance pancreatic cancer, on top of sclederma. she was hospitalized for 5 weeks after surgery. they removed part of her stomach and intestine (Whipple surgery) I joke with her that she had by-pass surgery. she is home now with hospice support we want her remaining days to be filled with love and support. I drive down on Fridays and stay until Sunday to relieve my sisters. it has been a tough road, and I have not been watching my food intake, I have been eating nothing but junk food. sweets, chips you name it, I ate it. again this habit goes way back to my days of gorging during painful times in my life. one of my favorite verses is Joshua 1:9 I command you: be firm and steadfast! Do not fear nor be dismayed, for the Lord, your God, is with you wherever you go.

    Anyone not feel restriction yet?

ladies, I don't know if I have what you consider restriction, I can and do eat 10 0z of food. (tv dinner) I also asked my Doc if this can harm the band or my pouch and he said that as long as I chewed my food to nothing it will be ok. compared to what a typical day of eating was in the past ( fast food, super size, 2 or 3 sandwiches, 2nd or 3rds for dinner, milk and Cereal as a midnight snake, candy, cupcakes, soda, you get the picture) I eat like a bird. after this third fill, I tried a few french fries and couldn't eat them, they felt heavy, yet I ate the hamburger (no bun) with no problem today, I had dinner with my sister at a mexican rest. and ate a dozen small shrimps, yup! 12 pieces of shrimp. no tortillas, about a tbs. of rice and Beans. it took me about 45 minutes, but I ate them all. am I in denial?
  6. Girlmoose, I have noticed a small sharp pain near my port, sort of like a pince. I was worried and spoke with my Doc. and he push and prodded the whole area and told me it could be a bruised muscle. I can feel the pain when I bend over or catch myself slouching. I got my 3nd fill .5cc's I'm now up to 3 cc's. I feeling good about it. Dr. C is very happy with my progress. I still tend to eat to much, but as long as I continue to walk 3-5 days a week I balance out. Heres some interesting info, I spoke to my Doc. about my concerns with how much food I actually eat and stretching my pouch. I can eat a whole tv dinner (south beach) and thats 10 Oz's of food. I was told that as long as I chew my food to basically nothing it will digest more easily and not just sit there (which could cause stretching)? LADIES, PLEASE SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON THIS ONE
  7. don't get discouraged ladies, my doc. had me extend my stomach and hold, he also said my port was capsulized (?) which I think is scar tissue. He had to use a longgggg needle. the second fill went without a hitch, I lost enough sub-cutaneous fat (yahoo!) and he was able to use a regular needle like Fannymae mentioned. we do have excess fat on our tummy's which will and can interfere with fills
  8. Hi Debbie, just saw your message, are you talking about the exorcist slime episode I had. I still laugh out loud about it. I was able to swallow my capsules today, so I'm happy about that.

congratulation are your decision to have lap band, when will you be having your surgery. there are actually quite a few people on this site that were banded by Dr. C. I really adore him, he is so sweet and his staff is very encouraging. I live in Delhi. It would be great for all of us to chat or even get together every few months for support.

I think I reached my peak weight loss and am struggling with hunger, its nothing compared to before banding, but am losing weight slowly. I have a doctor's appointment on the 30th and will most likely get a small fill. I don't want to go to tight, basically I can eat everything in moderation and want to continue to enjoy food. and of course I dont want the Linda Blair espisode to happen again (gag) ask me anything and everything and I will happy to talk to you.

practice chewing, excersize and drink plenty of water. I started this before surgery and I know this help me recovery so quickly.

    Sandy

  9. I had a interesting morning, getting ready for work. just before I walked out the door, I remembered my morning vits. well what do you know, one of the gel capsules got stuck, no problem I thought, it will go down, a little burp should do it, was I ever wrong. as I was getting on the freeway, I slimed ( thank goodness I had a napkin) saved the day, so I though a few moments later, BAM I a whammy of a slime episode, it was like Linda Blair in the exorcise. LOL! I was late for work today.

    Bands get tight after flying?

I don't fly, but let me tell you what happened to me a couple weeks ago. I live in California (central valley) my hubby and I drove up to Sonora (elevation 1800 ft) to get a copy of my birth cert. We had plans to eat breakfast at one of our favorite restaurants and I couldn't eat. matter of fact any hunger I had was gone. I felt the difference right away as we drove further in. when we drove home and were in town my hunger returned and I was able to eat a light lunch. I told my Dr. about it and he had no answer. hmmmmm!!!! maybe I should drive out there on a regular basis.

    Spicey foods a problem?

who better to answer that question but a true Mexican. I eat chili, meduno, tacos, chili verde, chili colorado, beans, rice you name, I can tolerate it. there are days I can eat a low carb tortilla and other days I cant. this past Friday I had a bean tostada and couldn't eat the tostada shell, yet a week ago I ate 2. I love chorizo with eggs. of course Mexican food is fattening, everything is fried.
  13. this is so funny, last night I had a dream or something about this "Freaking Band" I don't know what is was about, but I told myself "its going to be alright" I guess sub-cautiously I have not truly accepted my band, yet I know it was the best thing I could have done ( does that make sense) I still miss eating like a pig (call me Loca) I miss my companion and the comfort it gave me (damn! I have issues) but everyday it gets better and I know with time my band will be my new friend.

    3 Month update and Goal

Three months out with only a 2 pd weight loss, a week ago it was 4 Pd's (my scale) but I will only use my Dr's. scale as a true and accurate weight loss. the good news is I got a second fill, I really didn't want it but decided to have a small fill (.5cc) I did not focus this month, have not been planning my meals, did not walk for nearly 2 weeks (due to illness) eating soft foods that require little or no chewing (so of course I ate more) I need to get back on track. the good news is my fill went well, Doc was able to use a shorter needle, he tells me my sub-cutaneous stomach fat is shrinking. Darling Doc. is so encouraging and told me I am on track. I will be setting a goal of 8 pds for the April.

    three-week plateau

you might not be getting enough calories, try a protien drink in the morning or mid-mornigng and snack thoughout the day, a boiled egg, cheese stick, cottage cheese, fruit. you have to eat during the day. I never have have time for breakfast so I make a protien drink and have it mid-morning at work and I make myself eat healthy snacks throughout the day and of course I have lunch even if its just a bite. It really works. I also eat more during the evening but again my focus is on protien

    2 month post-op progress

check this out ladies, I went to a post-op lapband class today and it was very informative. First thing I found out was although I am losing weight, I am eating to much at one time. I was told to eat only 3 or 4 ozs of food and right now I eat way more than that. I need to start measuring my food or somehow estimate a portion size. I could sure use any suggestions. I was also weighed on a Tanita Body Compostion Analyzer, this is what it told me about my body *WEIGHT 247.5 *BMI 41.2 *BMR 7589 kj (?) 1814k cal (calories needed to maintaim current weight) I need to reduce my calories by at least 500 to lose weight FAT % 49.5 (on my!) FAT MASS 122.5 (half my weight is fat!) FFM 125.01 lb TBW 91.51 lb DESIRABLE RANGE FAT% 23-34% FAT MASS 37.5 TO 64.51 lb

    Afraid to get first fill

I felt the same way, I was scared of the pain (no pain) I was scared about not being able to eat normally (have had a few stuck episodes, slowly adjusting) I didn't need a fill the first month and when I went in for my 2 month visit, I thought to myself, 7 lbs lost, wont need a fill, but Doc said "lets give you a fill" the next thing you know I have a 2cc fill. and I thought what the hell just happened. I always told myself I would be conservative with fills and look at me 2cc's on first fill. I will take it slowly and see want happens. Good luck, be brave, you'll do fine

    What foods are protein?

theres animal Proteins dairy products Beans and of course Protein supplements the best book to follow is Atkins. its proteins galore
  19. thats how I felt when I first started off with this whole process.I didn't understand why someone would be upset at losing 50,60, 80 or more Pd's and then be upset because the last 5 or 10 wont budge. I now see its an ongoing battle. everyone sets a goal and of course their upset if they don't reach it. the best we can all do is to continue to provide encouragement. My personal goal is 199, yup you read it right 199 Pd's. if I happen to lose more, then of course I will take it.
  20. Bad habits are hard to break, just give it time and new habits will become second nature. My bad habit is eating to fast. I had a slight stuck episode this morning.I had beans, small low-carb tortilla and chorizo with eggs, I got stuck on the tortilla ( 1st sign of problems-slight pain, excess saliva) thank goodness it went down. I need to work harder on eating and enjoying what I eat instead of shoveling it down. But other then that, I have continued to walk everyday. most days its 2 15 min. walks during my work break and have been doing 2 sets of 15 reps with 5 lb dumbells. Ladies keep up the good work.

    I'm so excited!

    congratulations, we're all behind you
  23. OK ladies and Gents this pass Sunday, I went shopping for some new pants. as I was stripping off my clothes, I took a long long long look at the women staring back at me. I was in my underwear and bra turning around to check out every possible angle and was in shock at what I saw. I saw the hanging stomach and was lifting it up to see how I might look when the time comes for PS. I have loose hanging skin in the inner thighs ( that upset me more than anything) I held up my arms and they are in a world of their own. I check out my ass, and am happy to announce its holding up nicely. and the grand finally, I removed the bra. no shock there. boobs have been headed south for a while (breastfed 3 out of 4 kids) but what shocked me most was the face. the women starring back was smiling. she had a new spark to her eyes. she is beautiful. she is proud and strong, and is truly happy. having the band has giving me hope and strength, yeah! I might b***h when this band is causing me a little discomfort, but all in all I have been been blessed by God. Gone are the days of eating myself into a food coma, gone are the days of eating just to eat. gone are the days of eating in secret. gone are the days of going back for 2nds, thirds and just that last bite to hit the spot. I have stood in front of the mirror before, and yes it always shocks me. how could I have done this to myself. what in my life could have caused me to overeat so much to harm this body, my temple.my being. I have ask myself those questions a dozen times. childhood, marriage, children, boredom, depression, happiness. the joy of eating. I don't have the answers. (call Oprah). Have you met the person in the mirror? share your moment

    First Stuck/Slime/PB Episode

I'm feeling a little better after my first fill, no a lot better. I have no hunger during the day, today I had a protein drink, boiled egg and water. when I got home I had a cup of clam chowder. OK now check this out. my hubby is eating a flour tortilla with butter, mmmmmmmmm smells delis. and what happens I eat one, a whole tortilla. I chewed that baby to nothing. I don't think thats a good thing. I need to toss those suckers out the door another thing I noticed is during the day, I have excess saliva, its not a lot and I did not need to excuse myself to the ladies room and I guess sipping water flush it down (gross). This also happened to me on Saturday, I went shopping and was having to spit in a napkin the whole time. after we stopped to eat, it went away. This finicky band, I will learn to control it!
