HELP! Pain under L rib cage!

Jennifer I was just wondering what the outcome of your pains was. Was it just gas or something more serious? Kathy

    Vitamins!!!

JDUB0414 I bought some liquid calcium at the health food store since they are usually so large and I didn't want to have to cut them into halves. The liquid I got is orange flavored and also contains vitamin D and magnesium which the lady in the store recommended. Makes it much easier to get down...Kathy

A place for bandsters in their 60's

Hi Bimby, I had my surgery in Eugene, OR but I live about 70 miles away in Roseburg which is south of there. We moved here 5 1/2 years ago after retiring. We love it here. Except the winters. I am used to sunshine and there aren't that many sunny days here in the winter. But when it shines here, it is gloriously beautiful. Kathy

A place for bandsters in their 60's

Hi Phyllser, We live in Roseburg, OR and spent 6 weeks in Arizona and Nevada from December to Feb in our RV. I wasn't banded then and wondered what it would be like to be away from the security net of the drs ofc. I would like to be able to leave every winter for a couple of months. Being from Southern California the winters here are hard to take and the sunshine down south is like medicine to me. Where in Palm Springs do you stay? Is it a park or do you have property there? March Bandsters: MASTER THREAD

I am 2 days out now and feeling pretty good. I woke about 5 this morning and felt awful. I took a couple of Advil (my doc said that was ok) and they did the trick. I had a shake about 11 with the peanut butter and instant coffee that you suggested Fenton and it was really tasty. By the way, those eggs you talked about made me salivate. mmmm. I still have soreness in the stomach area and tenderness in my neck from the gas. But walking definitely does help. Hope the other newly banded shamrocks are doing well also....Kathy

A place for bandsters in their 60's

Welcome Bimby, You'll love this forum. I was just banded yesterday and I am looking so forward to getting in shape again and feeling good. This forum has helped me so much. Any questions I have had always seem to come up here and get answered. Kathy
  7. Hi Christina,

How are you feeling? My neck is still bothering me. I haven't filled my prescriptions yet. What time did you get to leave? Have you read the forum for the Shrinking Shamrocks? It's the Master Thread for March bandsters. Kathy

  8. Hey Natasha, I am home and feeling pretty good. I had some serious gas in both shoulders upon waking from surgery so I stayed the night there. I didn't want to ride home all the way to Roseburg feeling that way. My belly is hurting and I still have a little pain in my neck. But my Dr said I could use Advil and after getting no relief from the Tylenol I took 2 Advil and I am doing better. Just think you only have 6 more days. Woo Hoo, the staff at the hospital is awesome. Everyone is so caring and nice. You'll love it. Kathy

    March Bandsters: MASTER THREAD

Wishin4 is back and on the band. I had horrendous pain in both shoulders upon waking from surgery. I ended up staying the night in the hospital cause I couldn't see riding home 1hour and 15 minutes in the car feeling that way. I felt much better today. Didn't sleep much last night. Between the IV, the leggings that inflated every 15 seconds and having to pee every half hour, AND the nurses coming in just as I fell asleep to take vitals or refill my IV. UGH!! Looking forward to a good nights sleep in my recliner tonight. I tried my bed and my inscisions are pretty sore today so the chair is looking good. Walked the halls with 2 other newly banded folks while I was there. Hope you are all doing well today.....Kathy
  10. Oh that's too bad about having to go to Portland. At least you'll be covered there though. I am ready to leave for my appt. I live in Roseburg so it's about 70 miles from the hospital. Thankfully my DH is driviing. I'll write you when I get home ok?...Kathy

  11. Hi Natasha, I am ready to leave for my surgery but I just saw your message. My pre-op went well. They only did an EKG and I met the anesthesiologist and got lots of info. Everyone was so kind and nice. I will write you when I get back later today..Kathy

    March Bandsters: MASTER THREAD

Hi all, Best of luck to Charity, Midwest Carol, Debbiecatal, Reen, stellabella, mrodr41. I too am ready to head out for the long drive to my surgical appointment. It's raining outside and thankfully my DH will be driving. I don't like to drive in the rain and the dark. I have to check in at 7am. Surgery is at 10. I'll write again when I get home. Good luck and smooth sailing for all my fellow shamrocks going under the knife today...............Kathy
  13. Hi Astera,

I have been completely happy with both surgeons and the staff at the Oregon Bariatric Center. Everyone is so caring and thorough. Tomorrow is my surgery day and on my pre-op day they went over everything I should expect. So I would recommend them highly. OH, and I am going through insurance. The whole thing took me 6 months. It would have been shorter but I went on a trip for 6 weeks right at Christmas time so that delayed things. I'll post more after tomorrow.

    Kathy

    March Bandsters: MASTER THREAD

I am so thankful to have you all as my support group. I haven't been online for a couple of days and just caught up on the posts. My surgery is in 2 days and then I will be able to use the info you are posting about now. I don't have to do a liquid diet before surgery. I only have to stop eating twelve hours before surgery. I am trying not to go hog wild and have my "Last Supper" for every meal. I am eating sensibly and know that it's all going to stop reallll soon. ...Kathy
  15. Hi Natasha,

My pre-op went well and I met Dr Yarbrough. He is very nice. My surgery date is March 26. Six days and counting. I am ready and getting really excited.

How exciting. That is cool you get to come home the same day. I don't know if I can do that. I guess it depends on the patient where I am going and on how early you have your surgery. Good luck to you. I'll be thinking about you and I'll say a prayer that all goes well. Kathy
  21. Hi Natasha. hope things are going well for you. I am still doing my pre-op liquid diet.

    Kathy

  22. Hi Natasha, I am having lap band surgery on March 26. I am going thru Oregon Bariatric in Eugene. So far I am very impressed with the professionalism and kindness of everyone working there. I originally was to have Dr Umbach but I understand he left for another state so Dr Yarborough will be doing my surgery. I have my pre-op appt on Thursday morning. Kathy

    I got my Date - March 26th

Hi Reen, I am being banded the same day as you. My surgery is scheduled for 10am. I live in Oregon and my Dr is in Eugene. It's about 70 miles from where I live so we will most likely go up the night before so we don't have to travel so early in the morning. Good luck to you and let's keep in touch. Kathy

OOh, pippinje the one with the refried beans and enchilada sauce sounds delicious. I am going to have to try that as soon as I have my surgery. Great idea.............Kathy

    March Bandsters: MASTER THREAD

OK guys, add me to the list for March 26th. Woohoo!! I am so excited. I am doing a 2 week liquid diet now since I have to lose 5 to 10 pounds before surgery. My pre-op is the 20th. I figure I'll have the weight off by then. The diet they gave me is Carnation Instant Breakfast (sugar free) and one protein bar a day and one 300 calorie Lean Cuisine for dinner. I savor every bite of that real food. So far I am on day 6 and doing fine. I am enjoying reading about all the surgeries so far this month. Kathy
