    March Bandsters: MASTER THREAD

It sounds like everyone is on track here. I too am losing a pound a week and I'll take it!! Sure beats gaining anything a week. Slow and steady wins the race, remember that Fenton. Hope you all have a happy Thanksgiving...........

    March Bandsters: MASTER THREAD

Boy it's so good to see some activity on this site again. I had started checking in every few days instead of several times a day since it had slowed down. Welcome back Fenton. It's so good to hear about your adventures again. Everyone is doing so well. I am doing pretty well too. I go through periods where the band is really tight and then it loosens again. I don't usually eat any breakfast since I am really tight in the morning. By lunchtime I am usually pretty hungry but I still have to watch what I eat since I could still be a bit tight. My husband sometimes says I should get an unfill but I can eat and I am only losing about a pound a week so I think I am not overfilled. I just tend to forget I am banded if I am talking when I eat and take too big a bite or don't chew it enough and then IT happens. You all know what I am talking about. I have determined that spaghetti isn't my friend. I have tried it twice in the last month and it's too hard to chew it enough and I got stuck both times. I plan to eat small amounts of everything I want on Thanksgiving.

Christine I am sorry to hear about all the stresses in your life. I know stress can really play havoc with our bands too. I will add you to my prayers. Also I want to congratulate Teri on your making it to Onederland. That is great news and a size 16.........Oh I cannot wait. Keep up the good work.....

Wow! What changes in Lapbandtalk. I had to do a search to find this forum. Lynn I think you'll find that your band will fluctuate at times getting tighter some days more than others. Like Christine said I think going easy on yourself for a few days is a good idea. Try liquids and mushies for a few days. Hope you feel better.

Thanks for explaining the slipped band to us Chica. I for one didn't understand how that worked. I hope you are doing well now. tp00h the only suggestion I have is to start back on liquids and go slow. You have my sympathy since it's tough to start all over again. Once you get back on track it should be smooth sailing again. Keep us posted on your progress.

Chica I didn't know you had band slippage. What do they do for that? Does it require more surgery? Fenton, it's good to hear from you again. I hope you find some restriction which will put a stop to your last suppers. I am recovering from the mother of all colds right now and now my hubby has it too. Yuck! Hope you all are doing well.

Lynn I had soreness in my port a couple of months ago. It started hurting out of the blue and lasted almost a week. I didn't call the doctor because I hadn't bumped it that I could recall. One day I noticed it wasn't bothering me anymore. I just attributed it to weight loss around it so it wasn't as protected and maybe it got bruised somehow. I hope you don't have a serious issue with yours.

good for you Lynn. I can only eat about that much too after my last fill 2 months ago. I can hardly eat anything in the morning. Usually yogurt, cottage cheese or a poached egg. Lunch is a little better and by dinner I can usually eat the most but only about 1/2 then. Never thought I would get to this point. I saw my doctor today for my 6 month checkup. I've lost 57 pounds and he was pleased with my last weigh in. Said I should be ok at this fill for another month or so. I was glad to hear that. Not ready to be any fuller than this. He thinks I am at or close to my "sweet spot"

Good for you Scrappy. Wish I could get the pounds to fall off a pound a day too. Keep up the good work. Harley, I understand what you are going through. I too tend to grab a few nuts or something small to eat between meals. It's the head hunger not the stomach hunger. I had a can of mixed nuts sitting on the counter and decided to put them away. I went all day and never thought about them today because they were out of sight. Hopefully these short term goals we're setting for ourselves will get us through the holidays.

    typical day

Hi Serenity-I remember when I had no restriction and what I did was try to limit my calories and meet the protein requirements my doctor set for me. I used The Daily Plate to keep track of my calories and nutritional needs for me and it really helped. Good luck to you.
  13. Hi Brandie-I was only on clear liquids the day of surgery. The next day I was on cream soups, cream of wheat, etc for a week. After that I had a week of soft foods like cottage cheese, tuna salad, chicken salad, etc. Then on to regular foods if tollerable. Each doctor is different it seems in what they require you to do diet-wise.
  14. I am sorry for your disappointment. I am glad you have made your appointment though. Is your band filled enough? I am sure once you go to the doctor they will work with you to get you back on track and fill your band if needed. Please don't give up. You took a big step getting the band and your support group is here and at the doctors office. Don't beat up on yourself either. You are probably harder on yourself than anyone. Hang in there, okay? Try to be positive that this will still work for you.
  15. Welcome Daren, I read your blog and I am touched by your story. You are doing very well with your weight loss. Are you banded yet or planning to be? I am glad you found this site since you'll find a wealth of information here. Good luck on your continued journey.
  16. Hi Steve, Yes it absolutely was your gray hair. By the way you have done a fantastic job on your weight loss and should be very proud. I let my hair go "natural" a couple of years ago and since then I have been treated like an old lady. Inside I am still a kid and act the same but it is true. People react to the hair color and don't consider the person unless they know you. But your friends and family matter and I am sure they love you and are also proud of your accomplishments.

Hey all, that is a great idea to have a special Christmas goal or even a New Years goal giving us another week. If I try to be in wonderland by that time I would have to lose another 33 pounds. I don't know if it's do-able but I am going to give it a whirl. I have been a little lax at times. I am off to the YMCA for my daily workout now. Good luck to everyone. Have a great day

Hi Penny, I have 2.25cc in a 4cc band. I don't think I have mine too full. I just notice that at times it's tighter than other times. I have an appointment on the 14th so I will talk to the doctor and see if he agrees. I am glad you are feeling better. Physical therapy works wonders doesn't it?

Christine I am glad you found some relief. I am now wondering if I have the same problem you did. I have an appt scheduled for the 14th for my 6 month check-up. I will mention to the doctor that I seem tighter and have to take meds for reflux too. Keep us posted on how you do now with the slight unfill.

A place for bandsters in their 60's

Stan, I had hunger quite often until my last fill. I am either at my sweet spot or very close. The best bet for snacking is to eat something with protein. That will satisfy your hunger as well as meet your protein goal for the day. Good luck to you.

Hope, I agree with you on the band loosening over time as you lose weight. It also tightens and loosens according to your frame of mind. Mine is very tight in the morning. I have a hard time eating more than yogurt or cottage cheese. By the end of the day I do better unless I am stressed out. I am finding that I am having to change my whole way of eating. I went to lunch with some friends yesterday and only one knows I have the band. We were at a greek restaurant and they all ordered gyros so I did too. I ordered a chicken gyro. I wasn't able to eat mine because the chicken was very dry and stuck right away. I ended up taking it home. I should have ordered a salad or some soup. I am learning that when eating out it's better to eat what I can get down rather than what looks good. Darn it!! But it's all worth it in the end..............

    March Bandsters: MASTER THREAD

Lynn I agree. I have different responses to foods on different days. I do notice though that if I am upset or stressed that really affects my ability to eat. My last fill was early August and the doctor said I was close to my sweet spot and I agree but some weeks I can eat a good amount and others I can only eat a small amount and I feel stuffed. I guess we all have to just roll along with the process since we are all different and yet we are all experiencing pretty much the same things basically. I am pretty tight in the mornings so I only have yogurt or a protein shake or a soft cooked egg. By lunch I am a little less tight but have to be careful what I eat. Usually by dinner I can eat just about anything and more of it but the last couple of days it was like breakfast again. I am happy to be losing too after staying at the same weight for nearly 3 weeks so I won't complain.

That must be awful Christine. I have had trouble eating for the last two days. I had my last fill at the beginning of August but for some reason my dinner didn't agree with me. Last night I ate steak and ended up having it all come back up after sliming for 2 hours. Tonight I made a great dinner of roasted tomatoes on angel hair pasta and the tomato skins are stuck. I keep having them come back up. It was so delicious I didn't want to stop eating but I didnt want the same thing to happen that happened last night. I hope you can hang in there until Thursday.
