upurg replied to funkeechiggen's topic in Insurance & Financing
Thanks for the information. I am plan on trying with my current information and if it's denied I will take the classes. I have my weight documentation for past years and my third weigh on is on 05/23. Fingers crossed and lots of ???? -
So at this very moment I am sitting in a theme park holding everyone's bags because I am too afraid I will be turned away at the rides. I hoping I get my sleeve by July . I really pray this is the last time I miss all the fun because of my weight.

Aetna Sleevers - Share Your Approval And/or Denial Experiences Here!

Please help. Any advise would be appreciated. From my understanding Aetna requires 6 months supervised weight management with 3 consecutive months. Or 3 months with NUT, dietitian and classes. I have been seeing my primary for years and we always try to manage my weight for the 3 months I have seen him monthly. The advocate at my surgeons office seems is telling me I may not be approved ???? I am scared I will have to start over. Please share your experiences with Aetna. Should I try with my primary's. Notes first. Or just pay the $300 to take my surgeons 3 month program -
I will not miss everyone always hearing me coming because my thighs rub together and make that swishing noise. My co-worker jokingly said I always know it's you. She didn't mean any harm but it just made me think of something else I will not miss

I will not miss the disrespectful way some people treat overweight people. The not being taken seriously because of my size. Being looked over for oppurtinity because everyone assumes I am not healthy. I am overweight but I love myself and my family just as much as anyone else.

Was anyone else charged administrative fees. I feel like I am paying to have my appt's set for me or to fund the doctors they work with. I would like to use my own doctors that I choose. Is it possible to get all of you testing done outside the program?

$600 Bariatric Program Fee
upurg replied to CurvyCakes's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was advised by the program advocate that this is not covered by insurance or part of the deductable or coinsurance. The advocate explained the Fees were for coordinating your information package to submit to the insurance company. She did say that they could not guarantee it would be approved but the program would make sure all the documented requirements are met. They basically send you to an in house dietician,NUT, cardiologist, and psychologist and they set all the appointments. I feel like it's extortion!!! They know we will pay just about anything for a better life. -
I have the same question. That's extortion. lol I feel like they know we will pay to live a better life but that is insane .

Thanks for the response. I have been seeing my PCP monthly but no dietitian. Well if I have to restart I will make the best of it. Thanks again.

I have been seeing my PCP since December 17th For weight management. He gave me a diet and exercise recommendation. My next visit was march 17. I was only down five pounds. I have been seeing him monthly since. Will this count as a diet plan or most I start over with a three month plan with the surgery center?

First thing you're gonna do when you reach goal

I am afraid of the skin issues but I hope working out helps. My co- worker says she waist trained with a waist cincher while working out and it helped with the stomach skin. -

Well if that's vain I am too. Thing is we're going to lose weight by eating healthy and as a result we will look good. Unavoidable . Oh well guess we will have to look good as we get healthy lol. I'm in month 3 of my 6 month insurance required diet. Probably have surgery mid July. Yayyyy. I have been seeing my PCP for weight management and he referred me to a My surgeon that I will meet this Tues. I am hoping I don't have to start a new diet plan because I am 5 months in the my PCP. I am praying for a July at the latest. Start my last semester in August and I really want to be walking tall and thin at my graduation. -

I am glad you posted this because my mother made me feel really guilty today. I am in the beginning stages of my journey and I really want to get my health in order but I also want to be able to go in a regular store and shop ( not in the fat corner either). Lol. She made me feel like I having the surgery was vain and superficial. I am glad to know I can be health conscious and want to look good also. -
Anyone Just Starting the journey?
upurg replied to Mz. Nika's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am new to this process also. I have first appt today to start my 3 month eval and to see what further testing i may require. I am nervous. I am going to a Baraitric Specialist Center so my doctor is refereing me to other doctors in the center but for some of the testing it is less expensive to you outside specialist (GI, sleep test). I am wondering will it take longer to approve if I used outside specialist than if i just pay the extra funds to use the referred specialist . -
Greetings to all . I am new to this. I have started the process but I am trying to plan my surgery around work and school. How long was the recovery process before you'll could return to work? I know everyone is different but I am trying to make a estimate . Is two weeks long enough?

Thank you all for the info .
