Ouch. Yes they told me that happens all the time. Apparently I'm the only one who ever had a cat bite a hole in it, rendering it useless.
I thought you were gonna try to top that with a story a about a king cobra or something.

Hey Kari, good luck with the insurance stuff I know that part can be tricky. I am 26 and will be having my surgery on the 12th so I am a few days in to the pre-op liquid diet.

I can drink as much Fluid as I want it seems. I have a friend who had to do a barium swallow test and they said they watched what happens once it hits the pouch and it just swirls around a few times and empties. So if you wait a couple minutes between sips you should be able to sip all day. Once you move to softs and solids then you can sip all day minus the 30 mins before and after your meals. That is the case for me anyways I had mine done 9/12

It looks like you had the sleeve, so I can't offer much advice there as I had Bypass (like most who will respond here in the Bypass forum) but...
I felt the same way in the beginning. I even started to question whether they just poked a few holes, stuck in some stitches and took my life savings.
Luckily, once I got to what I call "real food" stages, I definitely noticed the difference.
I still don't have issues like I read/hear about people not being able to drink more than a sip every few minutes. I can drink 3 or 4 good gulps at a time and when really thirsty can polish off an entire glass in 3 or 4 minutes.
I always felt like I ate too much when I had Soup so after the first few days I gave up on it and moved into other foods. I still avoid soup most of the time for the same reason, though chili is a good emergency go-to when I'm out or can't find a good option in a restaurant. I just make sure to really limit myself to a small cup.

    Hi Friends,
My name is Joli. I had my RNY on 9/22/14. I am 6 days post op, and today I feel almost normal! I am walking about 1/2 mile per day, and boy does it help get the gas out! I'm drinking liquids but looking forward to the purée stage. I love cottage cheese and eggs!
I would love to be a part of this group. The support group out of the hospital I had surgery in meets twice per month and includes dietician, but more like a class than support. Sharing struggles and successes and day to day life is what I need also!

I struggled with my liquid diet the first few days and now it's a breeze. I do have to keep my self busy though or when I get bored I want to eat. I am glad to be down weight and old clothes are starting to fit so that part is exciting. It's crazy how fast it really comes only 6 more days

Hi my name is Alicia I have my surgery on the 12th getting so close I would love to have some support people going through it around the same time. I also have only made it to one support group due to work and it was nothing as I would have expected. Beth have you started your liquid diet or pre-op diet yet?

Dr. Kim is a favorite for sure! ANd Dehydration is the #1 reason why post ops end up in the ER hooked up to an IV for fludis. Take his advice.

I love Dr.Kim, he is excellent. He checked on me 4 times last week because he knew I was traveling to a warmer climate and was worried about dehydration (having a hard time with fluids). It was like he took extra good care of me, my scars are tiny, I mean tiny and they didn't even bruise. I'll send you a pic if you'd like.

I had my last appoint with Tricia and Brenda on June 6th and I have my surg consult with Dr. Kim on July 29th still crossing my fingers for a sooner date. It looks like with Kaiser right now people are stating to schedule their surgeries in September already. There is a good pre-op support group on Facebook mainly for Kaiser patients if you haven't joined already. Good luck!

I am from Oregon City area, still pre-op hoping to have to my surgery in summer or early fall this year. I am a Kaiser patient so I just finished all the classes and have my nutrition and social worker apt in a few weeks. Fingers crossed they will send me through to review and get to meet with the surgeon at the end of may or June glad to see other ppl from the area on here.

. Ok, I agree that sometimes people know a lot and can make pretty good guesses. I was an ICU nurse for many years, and sometimes I'm hearing things on this forum that sound more cardiac than lapband. Folks say call your surgeon and I'm thinking go to ER. Someone came on with a festering wound and said I did too much and popped stitches. I saw the picture and recognized infection immediately, while some who claim to be nurses were saying put a bandaid over it, it'll heal. So, if we listen to everyone here who claims to have the answers, we may not get the answers we need.
