  1. Thanks. I am getting 60 grams of Protein every day, but may not be drinking as much Water as I should. I work 10 hours a day in a pharmacy where I'm not allowed to bring a bottle water with me. I have water available in those little paper cups. I try to get aside to drink, but sometimes find it difficult. Yesterdays 800 calories was the most I've had so far. Today I've only had maybe a little more than 300-350 so far.

  2. Well I'm now 3 weeks out today. Feeling a little discouraged. Since I started on mushy food last week I have gained 5 lbs back. Somebody from the Woodbridge office just called to confirm my appointment this week, and told me not to worry about it. Said it was probably Water retention. How do you not worry when it's right there on the scale and not going anywhere. Yesterday was the most I have eaten at 800 calories. I also haven't gone to the bathroom in a week. TMI. Maybe that has some to do with it too.

  3. I can only tell you my own experience, although I know many others have related a similar experience.

I had head hunger the first few days after surgery, but by day 4 post-op I was starting to feel some REAL hunger. That empty, growling, gnawing feeling that demands attention! I wasnt expecting it because I thought the same thing you did, that I wouldn't get hungry, or at least not for a long time.

I get hungry every few hours because I'm still on full liquids. I'm hoping I will stay full longer when I'm eating solid food, I'm told by others that I will.

I was disappointed about the hunger at first, but I've learned to appreciate it. It's difficult to eat when you're not hungry, it's hard to explain why, but you will understand when you reach the other side. :) If not for the hunger i wouldn't eat at all. I'm still learning about the strange signals my sleeve is sending me. I can still feel everything, every swallow as it goes all the way down and into my sleeve. Instead of my left abdomen, I feel my little stomach way up now just under my diaphragm, still getting used to that. I burp a lot which is common. And after I eat, "full" feels differently. I feel a tightness just under my diaphragm.... Not the same full sensation as a full stomach before.

The nice part is, just a few tablespoons of Soup is enough to make me feel full for a few hours. :)

Thanks. I feel like that was truly honest. I guess now I know what to be looking for in the future.

  4. Everyone sure seems to do a great job of supporting each other. I will need to be able to chat with people who understand what I am going through. My husband still doesn't understand why I am doing this yet I'm sick and tired of hearing the negative comments about my weight from him. It is time to feel good about myself. I read all of these supportive comments and somehow feel as if I know some of you.

  5. I just set my surgery date yesterday for May 13 with Dr Halmi. I have my 2 hour appt Monday. I am a little nervous I won't get everything done in time. Dr Halmi sent a note to my primary stating I need an h pylori test, but did not ask for endoscopy. She is refusing to give me the referral I need. Leslie said she will tal to Dr Halmi and get back to me. My referral for the surgery is only good till July 14. I am going out of the country from June 16 to July 3. Trying to get it done before the trip, with enough time to recoup.
