  1. I understand your frustration. I really do. You, unfortunately have had to jump through a few more "hoops" than most of us had to. It would be hard to not just throw in the towel and forget the whole thing.... But here's the deal. You want the surgery? Just do what they need you to do. Simple as that. Like anything else, you put the effort in to get what you want. Show them how bad you want it by complying with their wishes. The surgery itself is all about compliance to get results. Don't quit, go forward, and prove to them you are a good candidate to have this surgery! Don't want to comply? Well, unfortunately you are giving them the ammo they need to prove their point. Period.
  2. I've always wanted to dress as Marilyn Monroe Next year
  3. I just decided to stay away from it. I bought crappy candy (at least crappy to me) to give out to kids this year so I wouldn't be tempted by the chocolate. I think this will be the first Halloween in my life where I don't have ONE piece of candy! If I'm closer to goal next Halloween, I may indulge in a fun size Snickers

Olive Garden has good soup. Why can't you still go to The Olive Garden and just order soup?

    Stalls are depressing!

Yes, they suck. I think I am going through my second one right now a little over 2 months out. SO CLOSE to ONEderland, too! I actually try to up my caloric intake a couple days to break them, and that seems to work. Sometimes there is just nothing you can do but keep on doing what you're doing and wait it out! I have also learned to only weigh once a week. I'll just drive myself crazy otherwise
  6. You look amazing! Good job! Lookin good in those jeans!

14 Mos out and not at goal!

I appreciate your answer! Good stuff to know for the future months I'm going to face. Good luck to you! I know you will get to your goal, you've done so well already!

14 Mos out and not at goal!

You look amazing! I can't imagine you not looking stunning in a wedding dress right now! I'm early out (only over 2 months) but enlighten me. Do you think you didn't hit goal because you may have gotten complacent with the plan as time went on? In other words letting some of your old habits sneak up on you? Or does it just get harder to lose weight as time goes on (even in the Golden Year)? I've been wondering this lately as right now the weight is coming off fairly easily...

    pre op panic

@@QueenBeatrix Hi fellow Idahoan! Dr Korn did my surgery in August! I was right on the cusp of BMI (like 39 when I had my surgery). What you ate going through is completely normal. Ultimately, when it's all said and done, and you are a couple months out like I am, you will be very happy you did the surgery. Fear, denial and regret is all part of the process...especially before and even weeks after. But as soon as you start seeing that weight come off and you start feeling really good, you will be so glad you did it! I promise! Good Luck and good healing for your upcoming surgery! Message me if you want to talk more
  10. This may not be a very popular opinion, but I truly believe if you are having or had problems because of WLS, you had problems before WLS. I think the surgery just exasperates the issues in a relationship/marriage. People don't split up BECAUSE of weight loss surgery. Hind sight is 20/20, and I'm sure those of you who's relationships have ended after weight loss surgery can admit that there were problems before. That being said, this is why it's VERY IMPORTANT for some to seek some kind of counseling before and after this surgery. It is a huge upheaval to you and your families lives, and if you have a tumultuous life anyway, this surgery will throw one more wrench in it. I think a healthy mind is just as important as a healthy body.
  11. It was the worst thing in the world for my health, I can tell you that!
  12. It's been over 2 months for me, and I have lost 29 lbs post op. (Weight shown lost on my profile is including pre op loss)...I am what you consider a slooow loser. I think I lost 17 the first few weeks. What matters to me is its still coming off, no matter how quickly. Hang in there! It will come off! Oh, I'm 47. So yes, sometimes I think age and of course BMI has something to do with the rate we lose

    Energy

You will be pretty worn out the first several weeks after surgery. I'm noticing now at 2 months out and 34 lbs down I have quite a bit of energy. I also walk 5 days a week and am joining a gym this week now that the weather is turning. Good luck and good healing with your upcoming surgery
  14. I had no pre op diet at all. Just clear liquids the day before and nothing after midnight the day of. I did ask him about how others have a 2 week pre op usually, and he said he has gone to conferences where they talked about the "liver shrinking", and he said it's so minimul that it doesn't even make a difference when it comes to surgery. All doctors are different I guess! I felt very happy to not have to go through a 2 week per op diet! It allowed me to enjoy a couple of nice meals and craft beers with my hubby before I had surgery Oh how I miss beer....

Waiting to get in to onederland

Right there with ya! Hoping to hit it within the next couple weeks! We are sooo close!
  16. I would say the first thing is to throw those weight loss drugs out the window! I know you are desperate to get past that 40 lb mark, but that is not the way to go about it. That would have been you pre WLS. Post WLS surgery you should know that number #1, 40 lbs is amazing! Now, get back to basics. Remember you are in this for the long haul, and that his is not another "diet". Are you tracking what you are putting in your mouth? Are you drinking enough water? Eating enough protein and eating few to no carbs? Exercise? I would say start with the basics again just like in the beginning and you will see it start to come off. You can do this girl! I KNOW you can!

    Not bad!

No, I hear ya! You really are right. I was just trying to be funny. "Trying" being the key word

    Not bad!

    Well that escalated quickly....

    Not bad!

I wasn't there, but I would suspect he was being dry and sarcastic. Most doctors have a very dark, dry sense of humor. There's NO WAY someone couldn't be impressed with your weight loss numbers!

    Should I be worried?

Measure your food intake then. I use 4 oz ramekins to put my food in, and if I became full or its empty, I stop eating. I do this so I don't overeat, because I know I would be tempted otherwise. That's how I became overweight in the first place Good luck!

    Should I be worried?

Measure your food intake then. I use ramekins that are equivalent to 4-5 oz, and when I'm either full or they are empty, I stop eating. I know if I don't measure, I will want to overeat, and I had this surgery to stop those nasty habits. Good luck!
  22. I was one of the lucky ones who never got gas pain. None. Was totally expecting it after everything I read, but thankfully it never happened. You may get lucky
  23. 2 months out here and I am going through the same thing! Yesterday I probably only had 400 calories and very little water cause I just wasn't "feeling it". I just chalk it up to a couple of bad days and try to do better the next. Some other days I feel like I can eat ALL DAY! I'm still trying to find my way in this kooky process! Hope it helps to k of you are not alone
  24. I am of the mindset that you teach people how to treat you. If you make it clear that you are not going to put up with people's disrespectful bullsh*t, then MOST of the time they will either respond respectfully or keep quiet. I have found this telling my friends, family and Co workers. It's too bad it only took me 47 years to get to that point
  25. @@yescobar Good advice here! Let me just add...you are GORGEOUS!
