At times I feel like rewinding the clock and going back in time...I wish just for a moment to go back to the old, happy, chubby girl living a simple, normal life.

Thank you all for your wonderful support. I had been feeling so down, depressed and discouraged lately.
It is still hard to wrap my head around the fact that this is not a reversable surgery. No matter what happens nothing can bring back my stomach as it was before.
This has been a complete mental trip for me. I try very hard to not focus on the current situation and want my day to day life to get back to the normal, usual routine.

I feel like the nightmares I faced with LapBand are all over again this time with the gastric sleeve. The only difference
is this is not reverseable. The vomitting and nausea all over again with just a few bites and i am sick. Well, I am only a month out not sure if this will get better with time? I guess time will speak for it self..!?!
Anyone else having problem with the sleeve?

Thank you all for your wonderful feedback and support !!
It has really been a learning curve for me. Honestly, going into this surgery I only knew I wanted to loose weight for good health and also to look and feel good. I have learned so much just being a month out now from this forum.

Thanks Marci for your encoraging words!! I mean dont get me wrong I still have about 75 pounds to loose. I have been a slow looser so far but doing okay with it. My goal is to loose 7 to 9 pounds a month until I get to goal. In fact I don't mind taking a full year to loose the weight.

yes. that is a big possibilty. I really need to be patient and give it couple more weeks or even a few months. Everyone who is 6+ months out says they are able to eat a lot more than when they intially started out. So, maybe I should that is as an addeded advantage to loose the extra weight for the next 5 or 6 months.

I am acutally not sure whay my capacity is at this time since it's only been a month. I can barely eat 3 spoonful at a time. And i really don't like to vomit. I want to live a healthy life. That was the whole point of getting this surgery.
I am still looking for some tips to relax and expand my sotmach a bit?
I don't like to just eat 2 or 3 spoonful only to find out that I am hungry after 1 hour. My job is hectic and I don't have time to eat every hour.
My goal is to eat normal 3 meals a day and maybe 1 snack. That is something I can live with.

I am about a month out and have a 36 bougie over stiched. So it's basically a 34. Even after I requested the doc to make my sleeve a bit bigger I feel it's too small. I have had some problem with throwing up a couple of times. even liquids take time and feel a discomfort when drinking. I am afraid i am not able to get my full protien at this time.
Can anyone suggest how I can naturally relax and expand my sleeve so i can comfortably eat and drink without feeling pain and discomfort. Thanks

That is so sweet for you to be able to offer the support like this.. So many can resonate with the original poster on this thread. It is really hard for many family members who are not struggling with weight like us to understand what it means to get this surgery. Sure, we have the option to get it done here in the states also but we pay almost 2 or 3 times as much. If the extra cost can be justified sure we can also get it done here.

Hi Maples,
Thanks for ur response. I have sent you a private email as i am also in the process of getting gastric sleeve done. Just wanted to hear from people who have already been thru that phase and how i can better prepare myself. I hope you are okay with that.

Hi BbGirl,
I was so depressed when I had to have my band removed. I gained 70lbs in 14 months. Believe me I enjoyed every bite of food but then knew I had no choice but to get the gastric sleeve.
I just felt really good about Dr Illan when I considered his experience, price & over all patient care. I also had a fantastic experience years ago with Dr Ariel Ortiz.
Thankfully, I haven't needed follow up care but I'm sure Dr Illan would FaceTime with me without question. He checked on me several times at the hospital & in the hotel, during my stay. He also doesn't do a ridiculous amount of surgeries per day & was a huge reason I chose him. Good luck & I just went with my gut feeling. Thanks :-) -
Even I am worried about the 2 week pre op diet as I am not able to tolerate hunger for very long period of time. The 1200 calories seems reasonable but ,the pure liquids for 2 weeks will be a bit tough for me.

Hi, I also had my band done in Mexico by Dr Ariel Ortiz in 09. I loved the healthcare that I received so much that I went back to get the gastric sleeve 3weeks ago.
This time I used Dr Illan at the florence Hospital. I needed an affordable doctor who I also trusted and I can strongly recommend Dr. Illan and his team. I had Zero complications and was shopping & hanging out by day 3.
Omar is the coordinator & he goes above and beyond to be just like a "personal assistant" to you while your there! Just putting in my two cents because I also researched doctors and it can be mind numbing to figure out the right one for you ect ect.
As far as my sleeve goes , I can eat and drink anything at 3 weeks out & feel very healthy, over all. When I eat too much it reminds me of the "stuck feeling"w/ a band. I haven't thrown up at all (not even after surgery) and my favorite thing is that I can drink faster and actually gulp Water, which I couldn't ever do with the band!!!
Hi Maples,
I also had the lapband and later removed in 2010 due to complication. So in 4 years I have put back all the weight and some more. Now I am seriously considering sleeve as a weight loss option. I am thinking of going to mexico for a revision but still trying to figure out the best doctor. My big concern in leak and other complications which may arise later on due to being a revision surgery. Is your doctor able to care for his patients should some complications arise later on after the surgery?

Thank you all for the list of names of doctors. I have also heard some good reviews for some of those doctors mentioned above. I have a few questions about after care. Also, if there is concern with leaks or any other major complications with the sleeve are you able to go back to the doctor to get it fixed?

I am planning on getting Gastric Sleeve done in Mexico. I am having a hard time picking the doctor. Can anyone recomand a list
