hoping for lap band to sleeve
Hello- I had my band since 2008 and had it removed Monday 4/14 - surgery was 7:30 am and i was released at 10:30 am...never needed a pain pill and was back to work on Wed. It really was amazingly easy & painless. My sleeve is scheduled for 5/19..My doctor will not do both at the same time..he feels the stomach needs time to heal and reshape itself in order to get the best possible sleeve and reduce risks of leaks etc.so he requires a 5-6 week waiting period ..I have read about some dr's who require an even longer waiting period - 3 to 6 months . I just wanted to tell you about my experience so you are not surprised or disappointed if your dr will not do both at one time...I was disappointed at first, but after some research I understand his reasoning & feel the waiting will be worth it .. Best of luck to you!

Thinking of Quitting- I'm overwhelmed
TatorTot.. Don't give up.!! My Dr only requires 1 day of clear liquids before surgery and nothing after 11pm the nite before. This was the same plan I had to follow for my lap band removal which was yesterrday. I was in and out of the hospital in 4 hours and have zero pain. As many have said..every Dr has their own pre-surgery diet plan and there is no one right or wrong plan. Just try your best and you will be fine! I too HATE protein shakes but I used Premier blended with ice and it really was ok!!

Nervous!
Best of luck to you !! Mine in 5/19 and I can't wait!!!! Are you all prepared for after surgery ? I am putting my list together so I can shop and pass the time until the day finally arrives.

revision waiting period
My Doctor makes you wait 5-6 weeks. He took all the fill out of the band on 1/30. I am having my band out 4/14 and sleeve on 5/19. I only had to do the psych eval. and see the nut once. I have gained about 10 lbs since the unfill - hopefully that will be it until the sleeve !!

May 2014 Sleevers
Hi !! Same here- I go from nervous to excited every five minutes or so. I was only told to follow a liquid diet 24 hours prior to surgery (nothing after 11pm) but that is it ...I am going to quit coffee right after my band removal and then try to stick to a liquid diet at least for a few days before the sleeve.

I have not gone to any support groups this time around (I did in 2008 with my lap band). I live about 50 minutes from Albany Med and work full time (M-F) so it is hard to make them ...but I want to try to go to some! My work schedule is a little flexible..so I am going to try to make it .I think it will be a tremendous help- esp after surgery. I have my band removal pre-op appts on Thursday so I am def. going to ask about the stomach/tissue suturing ..I am all for anything to reduce risk of complications

Albany, New York....?
Hello...Nice to finally meet you ...Since you have (had) the same Dr and the same surgery- I read just about every one of your postings and I feel like I sort of know you. ( sorry if that sounds creepy & stalker-like but I don't personally know anyone who has the sleeve - so I picked you to be my guide & it was soooo helpful !!) I was kind of freaking out when you were going thru your revision because that was right when I was making my final decision & even thou you hear all kind of stories - since we shared the same Dr - it was hitting close to home for me. I am really glad everything turned out good for you despite the complications !!! I am surprised to hear you switched drs..Did Singh do your revision or did your new Dr .. If it is not being too invasive .can you elaborate a little more on why ??

What are your plans for your 2 week liquid diet? My doctor does not require it..but I am going to put myself on it to get prepared for post-op ! Plus I need to break a bad coffee addiction asap!

Any May sleevers out there?
I got my band in Oct 2008 and have not had any real problems except not being able to eat anything of substance without getting sick but my dr said he waits 5-6 wks to give the stomach time to heal and reshape itself. He said it reduces the chances of complications. I really don't mind since I only started the process a couple of months ago so things have moved very fast! He unfilled my band on 1/30 & when i went back to see him in March & I told him I wanted to move forward with the sleeve- he gave me my dates immediately- I was kind of surprised !

Any May sleevers out there?
May 19th here in Upstate New York ... First I have to have my nasty Lap-Band out on April 14th, then after a 5 week healing period I get my sleeve. Just starting to make my post-op shopping list ...I plan to do my prep shopping after the band removal in an attempt to make the 5 week break between procedures go faster.. Best wishes to all !!!!!

No ..even though I do not have any issues (band slip, erosion etc) my dr (Dr. SIngh ) makes you wait 5-6 weeks to give the stomach time to heal and get back to a semi-normal shape.
