  1. I was sleeved 3/31 and have had a very easy recovery. I'm down 34 overall, but 15 of that was the per diet 2 weeks prior to surgery. I lost about 15 in the first 10 days, and only about 4 in the past 3 weeks. I've been up and down. I'm struggling with making time to exercise, and with getting in my Water and Protein. The shakes are so gross. Some days I'm perfect, but mostly not. I also find I can comfortably eat more than I probably should. I'm so afraid this isn't going to work. I have 3 busy sons and a husband, and I got the surgery so I can be better for them and be with them longer, but since I've physically recovered, I'm right back to running everywhere and doing everything for them, and my own needs are once again on the back burner. Help!!!

  2. You have done great! Really.I had my surgery same time as you (7 months ago) and the past 3 months have been slower. i've started jogging and eat 20g-25g of carbs most days.

what has been working for me, is that on Sundays i eat whatever i want and whatever I have been craving the rest of the week. I will have a glass of wine and eat more carbs, but on monday im back with 100g Protein, 20-25g carbs, enough fluids etc. To have one day of little freedom made the world of difference to me, as it helps me to stay focused the rest of the week, because I know I can have it on Sunday.

Hope this tip can help you to get back on track :-)

Freedomfighter. What do you eat yo consume 100g of Protein and only 20-25g carbs? I am struggling with this and could use some advice! Thanks!

  3. Sorry if this is tmi, but it is what it is! I was sleeved 3/31 and am having Constipation issues. Ever since I came home, I'll go 3 or more days without pooping, then I'll have to take a laxative before bed and once I even had to use a suppository. I have metamucil and stool softeners and I'm going to try that daily starting tomorrow. Is this normal? How have you dealt with it? Thanks!

  4. Since every practice is different, I'm wondering how much Protein you were told you need after surgery. My surgeon says 60 to 80 grams per day. I am 2 weeks post op, and I'm not getting nearly that much. I know we're supposed to focus on Water first, and I'm doing fine with that. I just about can't stand the Protein Shakes, so I got some Protein Shots and they are even worse but at least there isn't as much to drink. I've started eating high protein foods on the puree stage, like ricotta cheese and things like that. What is your track for getting in protein?

  5. Awesome post! Let's see ... to buy clothes in a regular store, wear cute rain boots, ride rides with my kids without worrying I won't fit, sit in any chair without worrying, take the stairs, hike and bike with my boys, have the energy to get things done, and go to my next class reunion wearing my senior prom dress!

  6. They are going to figure it out once you lose 100 pounds in a year after surgery. I told family, friends and coworkers before and the support was amazing. After surgery I announced it on Facebook because some people were worried I was Ill. I have over 600 friends and I didn't get one single solitary negative comment. On the contrary, I was floored at all the support and love. Plus, I got private messages from 6 friends considering surgery asking me about my experience. The only reason there's a stigma is because we feel like we have to hide it. Own it! You should be commended for taking charge of your health!

  7. I work part-time mostly from home but am in the office once or twice a month. I told my boss and a few work friends before. They sent me flowers! After surgery, I pretty much told everyone on Fb because people were worries something was really wrong with me. I have had tons of positive comments and Lord of support, and not one single negative comment. I explained I'm doing this so I can stay healthy and avoid the diabetes and heart disease that run in my family, so I can be here for my husband and kids. It was no secret I was (am still technically ... only 10 days out, lol) obese ... so I figured why keep my solution to the problem a secret? I have actually has a half-dozen people approach me privately and say they're interested in having it done too.

  8. The taco seasoning idea is genius! Wish I'd have known that when my family was eating tacos last night, lol! I was sleeved 3/31 and have been struggling to get more than 1 shake in. Yesterday at Walmart my 10-year-old son spotted some "vials" from New Whey that are 42 g of Protein in just 3.8 oz. Let me tell you, it tastes like ass, but it's so worth it to only have to get 3.8 oz down! I'm taking a few swallows several times a day. I figure I can do this until I get to the point where I can have a protein bar!

  9. I have been struggling to get in more than one 30-gram-protein shake in addition to my Water. I was sleeved 3/1. Today at Wal-Mart, I was looking in the Protein section and my son pointed out these little vial a. It's New Whey brand Liquid Protein, and has 42 g of protein (no caffeine or anything), and 180 calories in 3.8 oz. They're about $2.60 each. I bought a 6-pack of grape for about $14. It tastes like crap, but it's only 3.8 ounces, so I'm going with it. I saw some yummy-looking Protein Bars and I can't wait to get to the stage where I can eat them instead of drinking shakes or whatever. Thought this might help if anyone else is struggling to get protein in on top of water.
