1. Congratulations and welcome to the losers bench. I hope ur home soon!

Thank you!! I'm home now but I feel over tired. I was released from the hospital yesterday and my sons wedding was last night. I went to the wedding although I didn't do anything, but I think I over did it because I've been sore and tired ever since. Taking it really easy today. Trying to get in my Protein and it's difficult. I'm not hungry but I could eat.... All these commercials about food are making it difficult. But I will not give in!!!!

  2. Good luck to you msshell! You are in my prayers!

    Thank you so much!!!

I'm waiting to be discharged now. I'm in minimal pain. Yesterday was a bad day but I did it to myself. I'm waiting to be discharged now. I'm in minimal pain. Yesterday was a bad day but I did it to myself.

    Rest easy Gixxergirl!

I had my surgery Monday came home Tuesday. So far I'm pain free except for a little soreness at the I incision sites. I'm so glad I did this. I'm tolerating the liquids but not the Jello. I'll wait a couple of days before I try then again. So far so good. I'm walking up and down my stairs and later this evening hubby and I are going to walk around the block to see how I feel afterwards. If I feel good then I'll start walking again, if not I'll stick to my Wiifit workout for a couple if weeks.

    You Rock MrsGloMartin!

  3. so glad you got that straightened out! i plan to save some chicken bones and make my own broth by boiling it with a couple pieces of meat, tons of veg, salt, garlic, etc. and draining it, like you did with your veg broth! i am generally not to picky but two weeks is a long time for me (that's my pre-op diet time). I am also able to have RAW veggies, plain yogurt, applesauce, shakes. i plan to make a heap of dip with the plain greek yogurt and spices and live off those raw veggies along with it! best of luck

Best of luck to you too!! Fat free Greek plain yogurt makes an awesome dip for veggies and it's good on a baked potato too!!'

Hi, yes :D I'm five days away from my surgery date and I am very excited. I went today for my pre-admission testing and I learned that I'm the first surgery that day so I have to be there at 5:30 in the morning. My hubby is so excited he went out and brought slippers, a new bath robe, toiletries, comb, brush, etc. lol. I told him to calm down I am not taking all of those things with me. I'll probably not take anything but a comb and brush, my Dove soap, some lotion for my very dry skin because I won't be able to wear any to the hospital, my deordorant, toothbrush and toothpaste, a washcloth and towel. From my personal experience with hospitals and major surgery I will not need a bath robe or night gown because I will be wearing the gorgeous hospital gowns which are much easier to get around in with all of the iv's and catheter. I told the nurse to make a special notation on my chart that I want to be up out of the bed at least three hours after surgery. I know that the sooner I begin to move around the easier it will be for me in the long run. You have to move around as much as you can after surgery in an effort to lessen or completely remove an incidence of gas. I'm prepared mentally, physically, an demotionally for this change because I have so many plans for the rest of my life that being obeses will not allow me to see into fruition. Now that I've said a mouth full how are you doing? Our countdown begins!!!! :D :D :D :D :D[/QUOTTeMrsGloMartinI love your spirit!!! You always post the most positive and uplifting post. You have know idea how much of a blessing you are! I thank God for you and pray that he blesses you as you have blessed me!I'm excited to and nervous. Next week will be here sooner than we think! I'm praying for no complications... We hear so much from people who have had problems and I know we should be prepared for the worst... It is nice to hear from those that have had smooth sailing.

  4. I had my surgery yesterday and I'm back home on my sofa. I actually feel amazing! Sore, yes, moving a little slower, yes, but all things considered I feel great! I have had small sips of lemonade and broth and 2 sugar free popcicles. I'm hoping I sleep good tonight knowing the nurse won't be waking me up every 2 hours to take my vitals! Lol

My instructions were clear liquid diet for 2 -3 days then gradually add fat free or 1% milk. I would not eat the puréed chicken either because it will make you sick!! Anyway, I've read bunches of posts on here with people who are having a really hard time of it and I was petrified so I wanted those of you who haven't had surgery yet that not everyone has such a hard time! Have a great day! God bless all of us recovering and those getting ready for surgery! :)

Thank you Amy! I am glad to know that everyone does not have a rough time.

  5. Thank you for your encouragement. I felt very unsure of this process this morning, but I feel better now. I know this will be tough, but I know it is worth it.

My surgery is April 23, 2014 and I am very excited. I know there will be many adjustments I have to make to ensure success. I am ready. I am strong. I can do this. .... (that's what I have to keep telling myself)

  6. Hi,
I'm brand new here... Been lurking and reading topics for the last few days... I was approved last week for the sleeve surgery and we scheduled it for 4/23 yesterday. I'm supposed to start pre-op diet Monday of 2 shakes and a meal of lean Protein and veggies... I'm a little nervous about the recovery as I am planning to go back to work the Monday post surgery (desk job)... Other than that I'm cautiously excited :-)
-MM

    MammaMac

We are surgery mates!!! I have ready started my pro-op diet! I too am planning on returning to work the following Monday. I'll be praying for you to do well!

    I'm excited and nervous!

  7. Yesterday the nurse said that they will cancel your surgery if you don't follow the liver shrink diet. My question is how would they know... I have been on my pre op diet for 3 days and it's tough. I don't want to cheat but at times I am weak. I know I have it better than some who are on liquids only, I can have 3oz of meat and veggies at dinner time.

This morning my mind is stuck on chocolate...????

I know I must do this... I need encouragement this morning!

  8. I'm a 23rd girl!!!! So excited to be headed down this path to a happier and healthier future. I on the other hand have always been "big boned", lol! I came from a family of obesity, so it was just accepted. My mom had RNY 3 years ago and is feeling n looking great. She has been a great inspiration to me and her surgeon is doing my sleeve. If this liquid diet for 2 weeks doesn't kill me I can make it through anything. I am so glad I found this app because it is awesome to hear other people are going through the same thing.

I totally agree! I would be lost without this app. I look at it all the time to see if there are new post. I feel so much more prepared because I know what to expect.

  9. Hi everyone! I'm excited today because I had my pre- admission appointment today!! I got my body wash for my pre-surgery shower!! I meet with my doctor on Monday for my final appointment before my surgery and I'm on day 2 of my liver shrink diet!!!. I'm moving right along!

I have to admit that today I have reflected over my life and am asking myself how did I let myself get into this shape, this weight! I was very thin growing up, I've always had a big appetite. My step father always said that over eating would catch up with me and I guess it has. Now here I am, morbidly obese with bad knees!!! I should be in much worse shape, but God has allowed me to be more healthy than I should.

So now I'm looking for people to connect with who are going through this journey!,,

April 23 is right around the corner!!!

  10. Congrats on your decision to move forward!! Just my opinion, but I would really suggest you take at least 12 days in a row off. I only did 8 days and I was still in pain and still (obviously) recovering from surgery. One of my staff that reports into me was like 'oh you are not in any shape to be here' and called me out on it, saying 'my boss needs to go home.' I was fatigued from the clear liquid and liquid diet. I could not get in enough Protein or Water so I felt weak like 'oh its 3p I need to lay down, now.' One day I drove home super tired went home, laid down around 2p and woke up at 10p. No joke. If you have to go back, maybe just do half days literally 4 hrs only for the first few days back. I will say, everyone is different and I did bounce back the following week. Just be aware that you may need to give yourself more time off, take care of yourself the healing process is super important to your success. Enjoy the process and do what you think is best, perhaps you are tougher than me! ;)[

Thank you for your advice. I think I will go with the 1/2 days at first. I do think I'm pretty tough, but I do want to heal properly. I'm glad to get feedback!????
