1. I think it's normal for us to feel we will be unsuccessful... But we must push through the negative, do what is required and we too will start to see the numbers come down. I have not weighed myself since surgery, I will at my first post op visit. It's Monday so I'm excited to see where I am. I did try on a pair of pants that I couldn't button before surgery and I could button them today and they were comfortable. That joy was short lived though because I tried on another pair and they fit just like they used too... I wanted them to be baggy!????????????. I know this is not a race so I'm just taking it day by day. Physically I am doing fine, I have returned to work as of last Tuesday and although I'm tired, it's ok. Mentally this has been tough, way more than I ever imagined. I am glad to have you guys though!!! It helps so much!

  2. I cheated and had mashed potatoes. Heaven!

Omg !! Lol I bet hmmmmm I want some . I am only 10 days post op how many days are you ? I am sooooo tired of the liquid diet like I don't even bother eating broth it's just not fun , all I do is drink all day ughhhh i am feeling really down

I'm 10 days post op too... I just could not take it any longer and I feel myself getting depressed. I was not eating anything, just drinking the shakes because nothing else was good. The mashed potatoes were wonderful, I had a Protein Shake as well so I got my Protein in. It was just wonderful to get something other than sweet in my mouth

  3. Surgery 4/21. My dr. Moved me up to full liquids last Friday so I am progressing at the pace advised. So, today will be purée day. I have a can of chicken here. Can I just mix with mayo, squish it good and eat some? What about egg salad?

Mommyjamie I like you!! I love your post! You are real and ask questions that relate to me too! I'm with you about this food thing!!! I'm hungry and so ready to move to purée!!! I laughed at another post you had where you said you chewed a shrimp and thought thank God I'm not alone. I do admit I have not chewed anything, but I have wanted to. Last night I had mashed potatoes and I shouldn't have cause I'm still on full liquids... But it was really good and I tolerated it.

  4. I am not sure if any of you are aware but one of our April surgeries passed away. Let's keep claw0416's family in our thoughts and prayers.

That's terrible... I'm praying for her family. Earth has no sorrow that heaven cannot heal!!! I'm going to stop my complaining about what I can't eat and thank God that I'm still here...

  5. I'm 5 days post op RNY, after eating I get a really sick feeling.. It makes me lie down.. I feel nauseated and get weak feeling... It first happened yesterday when I had egg drop Soup. I felt bad after eating and did not eat it again. I went back to my shake and I had about 4oz... That too mAde me sick. Today I've had 1 Protein Shake 11oz which was halved and drank at two separate times and I has the same feeling.

    Can anyone help me.

  6.
I am exercising some, try for 30 minutes= to 6 miles on my Airdyne. But I can't do it everyday. I get lots of Protein and drink lots of Water. I have kept my food plan really simple until I see my doc May 6.
[/quote

That's great!!! You are an inspiration. When you say you keep your food plan simple, can you give some examples. I'm not a full week post op yet but I want to be successful and prepared.

  7. I'm officially a week out. I had Rny 04/21. I'm already at 236 from HW of 255. SW was 240 though but I'm still thrilled. I was back up to almost 250 from all of the fluids they gave me plus the swelling. The only issues I'm having are head hunger. I also get frustrated because I want to feel food in my mouth. Today is my first day of full liquids. I'm looking forward to Protein shakes but I'm nervous that it won't settle well.

That's great!!!! I have not gotten on the scale since they weighed me before surgery. I know what you mean about head hunger... It's the worse. My doctor allows full liquids from day 3 so I've been doing that... It's not easy.. It seems that everything we can have is sweet and I'm sick of sweet!!! I did have some egg drop Soup yesterday and it tasted good but afterward I felt queasy and hot and I thought maybe I did too much. I will go back to Protein Shakes alone today because I don't want to feel like I did yesterday.

This surgery is way more of a mental challenge then a physical one. Don't get me wrong the physical has been a little tough, I'm moving a little slower but at 5 days post op I'm not on pain medication, so that just shows how the pain is. But I don't have a pill that makes my mouth and mind to stop wanting to taste food!!!

  8. My anxiety is going wild right now with only 24 hours left to go until surgery.
Here is my question for those who have already had surgery... What is something you didn't know before surgery that you wish you would have known?

These message boards really prepared me for surgery... My surgery has gone as they have said it would. The only thing I wish I would have paid more attention to is head hunger!!! It's killer and real!!! It will set you up for failure, so be strong!
