  1. Dr visit went great all labs were perfect. He said I was 10-15 pounds ahead of what he expected so that is even better news. He does want at least 20 mins of formal exercise 3-4 times weekly, not for weight loss but for strength and help with pain. He said pain is from body shifting from weight and nerve damage but hopefully might get better. I also loved his view point on the grouchiness, called me a snicker commercial.. And that is good thing... Body needs nutrition so feed it.. Good thing, not about comfort but about survival...pay attention to moods based on food... Might be new hunger clues. All in all happy Dr report!

    Great report!

  2. Glad to see everyone still hanging in there. I've had a rough few weeks. I spent 3 days in the hospital with a bleeding ulcer. It was the worst thing I have ever experienced. I threw up blood every 15-20 minutes for 15 hours. Nobody knows why it occurred at 5.5 months. If it's going to happen, it usually shows up much earlier. So I'm on a bunch of new medicine. YUK.

The timing was also terrible because I had finally started to do some formal exercise. I was going to gym in the morning, and had even done a private yoga session to learn some things before I jumped into a class. Now 2 weeks later I just feel like I am making it through the day. I'm hoping to get back in the gym this week.

Anyone having an issue with their tailbone? Mine is unbearable. I can't sit in the same position very long. I was miserable last night at the movies and fidgeted the entire time. The chiro and surgeon said there is not much I can do except try to strengthen my core. My tailbone shifted to balance all the excess weight for so many years and now it's out of place.

On a positive note, I'm down 73 pounds at 6 months. I started this process with a 40 BMI so I was considered on the "smaller" end of this whole process. Quite honestly, I wouldn't mind staying where I am. I'm in a M/L shirt and a size 12 pants. My doctor told me I could realistically expect to be at 165, which is only 10 more pounds. I'm not so worried about that anymore. I'd like to give my skin some time to rebound in hopes that some of it will start to look better.

OMG!!! My tailbone has been so uncomfortable!! I broke it about 8 years ago and I promise you the pain is identical!

  3. I just started week 5, and my surgeon gave me a book that is very specific about the stages of eating. Did you not receive anything like that? My plan at week five allows any lean meat you'd like to try, that is moist. You can start adding small dark green salads, but eat Protein first. Chili is good and could give you the spicy you seek. Fruits and veggies are added at this stage, even with skins, if you can tolerate them... but only (as always) after you've had your Protein. You are to progressively grow to 3 oz of protein and 2 oz of veggie or fruit at each meal (4 x daily), and are allowed only one serving of complex carb per day (like quinoa). This is the plan from 5 weeks to 6 months, per my surgeon... but they are all different. Wishing you well!

What great suggestions! I'm 6 weeks out and I feel that I never make wise food choices. I didn't bring my lunch today and I trying to decide what I should have for lunch. Any suggestions!! What have you eaten today?

  4. <p>Hi! I'm in the same boat... I lost 40 lbs almost instantly... now I'm stuck. I talked with my doctor, he said that the initial weight is Water weight, believe it or not, and that, if I don't exercise, I can expect to NOT lose weight. I honestly can't believe that, since i'm hardly eating ANYTHING!</p> <p> </p> <p>It's so frustrating.... :(</p> <p>But, at least I see that I'm not alone!</p>

I agree with you! I know that exercise is important but I don't understand how you would not lose any weight with the small amount of food we eat...

  5. Thats so good Jess!!! I eat crackers but I have not tried nuts or Protein Bars or salad!! I can't wait to try salad!!! I've been eating loads of watermelon and grapes.. I can eat chicken, tuna, and salmon. I eat a lot of chili. Before this surgery I used to love eggs, but now they don't taste good..

I also have a problem with eating too fast, it doesn't hurt but I just feel that it's too fast. And I totally hate not drinking when I eat.

I am grateful for the surgery because I know I could not have done this without it, but it is really hard especially emotionally!!! But I keep praying and keep going!

    Have a wonderful day!

  6. That's awesome Jess!! You are doing great and you look great!! I'm proud of your success!!!

My weight loss is a little slower than yours but I'm so proud of all of us!!

It has been a struggle and some days are better than others!! I'm still not 100% glad I had the surgery, but it's much better than it used to be.

What kind of things have you been eating?

  7. Ginger snaps I should have been more specific about the location on the pain.. It is actually low abdomen in the area of my large intestine. I was thinking it was because I've been a bit constipated, but I'm not sure. I will call my doctor!!

Thank you guys for your responses!!

  8. I'm 5 weeks post op and I was doing pretty good until last night. I'm having a lot of lower stomach pain. It kept me awake last night and it continues. It's a sharp intermittent pain. It hurts so bad. It's going on 24 hours of pain. Anybody been through this?
