  1. thanks for posting!! my surgery is this thursday, and i'm still a little nervous about the procedure so, how are you feeling!? and may i ask, how old are you??
  2. my surgery is may 22nd, and my surgeon does not require a pre-op diet. ive talked to dozens of people who've had him, and they said theyre surgery went fine i do beleive that if your required to do a preop diet, it mostly depends on your doctor, insurance, or how much you're overweight
  3. thank you soo much for posting that inspirational story!! i'm gettin banded soon, (may 13th) and im a little nervous, MOSTLY EXCITED!! its always good, and encourging to read things like that good luck at reaching your goal!
  4. hey! im jessica, i just turned 20 i just approved today, so hopefully i will be FINALLY banded soon ive finished all my tests, and now i just have to make a surgery date so far im soo excited, but i think once i get an offical date, i'll start to get a little nervous....
  5. congrads! i just got approved today, and all i have 2 do now is schedule a surgery date my suregon doesnt require a pre-op diet, how ever, just to be extra safe, im going to go on one well good luck, and congrads!!
  6. Yay, im sooo excited!! i got the phone call today, that i got approved for surgery!! im soo excited, and surprised that i got approved, because NONE of my doctors would write the note for me!! They all said, "Youre too young" or my favorite "If you want to loose the weight, you will" so my suregon, Dr artuso, wrote the note for me, and after about 3weeks later, first attempt, I WAS APPROVED!! i'm just really happy, because i wasnt expecting this so, i have a question now: after being approved, how long did you have to wait for the surgery?? A month...?? few weeks?? i'm wondering... well thanks for reading!!
  7. i'm considering this surgery... i'm going to ask my doctor more about it does anyone know about this procedure personally??
  8. has anyone heard of this surgery, or know someone who has it done??:w00t: so far what i've learned from it is: "This revolutionary procedure is now available for individuals who have had previous gastric bypass surgery and who are regaining weight. It’s also available for those who want an alternative to invasive weight loss surgery. This procedure involves no incisions and no recovery and involves placing an endoscope through the mouth into the stomach pouch. The connection between the stomach pouch and small intestines is then sutured resulting in slower emptying of the stomach and earlier satiety and more weight loss. The procedure also shrinks the stomach pouch and makes it small, similar to the outcome of the original gastric bypass procedure,"-http://www.stopobesityforlife.com/StomaphyX.html so my question is, what do you all think about this surgery?? i havent been banded yet, but i think this seems pretty good... please, post your comments on the StomapyX surgery thanks! ~jess:smile:
  9. hello everyone i'm 19, but will be 20 in a few days... i will be banded, hopefully this coming march
  10. i would suggest going to index.html i work there, also at the store, its a plus sized clothing store they can fit you for a bra while your inside  and the bras are not expensive! the most expensive bra we have is $35 however, underwire bras used to bother me (i'm a 42DD), but now, i prefer to wear them. i think you have to buy a really good underwire bra, and try wearing it for awhile, and see how it feels. plus, i was told, that underwire bras tend to lift and support way more than non-underwire bras.
  11. AARRGHHHH im sooooo FRICKEN PISSED!! Ok, so... this will be the THIRD time i have changed my surgery date! First i was scheduled for Jan 8th, but i had to get a sleep study, because my polomonmigist (sp) doc asked one simple question "Do you snore?" And i answered honestly, "yes." Now, im not upset that he wanted me to get a sleep study, i understand that its very important to know if i have sleep apena or not, and better to be safe than sorry. however, i remember reading a thread on here, and the guy said, DO NOT MENTION YOU SNORE! (lol now i feel like i should have listened:mad:...) So anyways, i had 2 cancel my date for my surgery on the 8th because i needed the sleep study, and the soonest date i could get was Decemeber 17th (which was the LAST test i needed for surgery) So, we rescheduled my surgery for January 14th!! Well... early this morning, the doctor FINALLY CALLS, (which is almost 3weeks later, because my results were in 7-10days right after i had my sleep study done...) so, all he says is, and i quote "Well, you have between moderate and severe sleep apena" :cry And thats all he said!! Oh, and that i have to get MORE test done, and get fitted for a sleeping mask... (AAARRGHH!) i personally dont think i have sleep apnea... and my co-workers told me to get a second opinion, but is that really rational to get a second opionion on a sleep study?? So... now i know FOR SURE, i will not be getting banded in January!! :angry im sooo disheartned... i feel like, everyones giving me the run around... that i'm not being taken seriously!!! part feels like just giving up!! that maybe, if i've had to cancel my surgery date more than twice, that maybe this a sign from above, letting me know i shouldnt get this procedure done?? has anyone else gone through something similar like this?? :help:(before you've gotten banded, of course?) i know i have come very far... with getting all my test done and attending support groups, and researching everything there is to know about weight loss surgery, but its hard frustrating! any advice, please?? ps... thanks for taking time to read my rant!! i just had to let this stress out!
  12. "you can eat what ever you want! All you have to do is exercise and have proportion control!" haha if it were that easy, i wouldnt be getting the sugery done

  14. omg i am sooo sorry to read about your loss Reading your story really makes me wonder and second guess about getting the surgery now.... once again... i'm very sorry... my heart goes out to her family and friends... especially her husband
  15. hello everyone!! my scheduled surgery date is January 8th!!! everyone wish me luck!! my surgeon doesnt require a pre/op diet, i, however will probably do it one week before my surgery... do you all think i should start sooner, or not even do the pre/op diet since its not required?? well thank you everyone!! good luck too! =)
  16. Lmao I get that all the time too! I also hear, "ohh you're too young!" Or "just go on one more diet," "your taking the easy way out" Or my fav "stop being lazy and just exercise!" (that ones from my older skinny brother hahah) I do excerise, and I am active. Some people are ignorant Well good luck to everyone! Don't let them get you down or break your spirits!
  17. Wow, thank you all for answering my questions and responding back soo quickly! I've come to realize, by reading other posts and topics, that this lapband community is very supportive and postive! And your all so honest, I greatly appricate that Well, I just thought of another question: After your weightloos, does your shoe size happen to go down?? I know for a fact I have a very wide foot, I can fit a 8 or 9 wide, but if the doesn't come in wide I have 2 get a size 10! Anyone else have this problem??
  18. Hello! First of all, my name is jessica, and thank you for taking the time out and reading my post. I haven't been banded yet, but hopefully next year of 08, I will become a fellow banderster!Well, I've been lurking around the board for a couple of weeks and finally have gotten the nerve to ask some questions...I have a few questions, that I don't think have been answered on here before:1) the scar from the surgery, is it permanent? Or after a few years does it go away? Or will it always be there, just not as noticable as before??2)after loosing so much weight in short period of time, does your skin tend to sag? Or is the excesses skin where its noticeable? And my last question3)I'm pretty sure all of have these... well, do the stretch marks ever go away? Or will they always be visiable?I heard that the stretch marks never go away, but you put cocoa butter lotion on them, or get a perscription by a doctor to make them less noticeable??Well thanks soo much! That's were all my questions FOR now lolThanks again everyone! And anyone else who has questions, post them here!
  19. I'm 19, soon to be 20 in january! Its gets frustrating sometimes to hear "oh, you're to young to get this done" and blah blah, but I've struggled with my weight at a very young age.So most likely for my 20th bday, my present to myself is to get the surgery. Its great to know there are young people, some younger than myself here, wanting to get the band done. All of your stories are inspringing to me!Well good luck to everyone! And feel free to messege me or IM online at anytime.Thanks!-jess
