My nut has always said about 30 percent of calories. I think at 50 grams in a 600 calorie diet it would exceed that mark. I'm not claiming to be a pro but looking back at 4 weeks out my calories were at 700ish with 75 grams Protein and 25 to 30 carbs. I'm up to 850 or 900 calories 5.5 months out with carbs of 35ish.
-
Just my two cents but I think your carbs look kind of high for just starting off and for the amount of calories you're consuming but I'm sure you'll do great!
-
Anyone have a tough time trying to stop taking it? I'm trying to wean myself off with an every other day method but it still effects me some. I'm 5.5 months out.
-
Your write off is only what exceeds your agi of a certain percent which I think is 7.5%. I certainly hope supplements never exceed 7.5% to be able to claim. Self pay on a surgery definitely could though

Of course you will lose more! Just stick with it. I like to switch up the exercise routine to something my body isn't used to if it stalls. Not sure if this is really what kicks me out of it but it helps mentally to know I'm trying to give it a boost.

For people that have been sleeved for a bit, what have you done well and what are you struggling with? Here's my list (I'm 5 months out)ç
Victories:
1. Exercise (although slipping a bit last 2 weeks)
2. Portion Control, logging, measuring, and planning
3. Protein selections
4. Avoiding sweets and bad carbs
4. Water (quantity and waiting 30 minutes)
Struggles:
1. Eating slow - never do it really.
2. Caffeine - drinking coffee.< /p>
3. Not enough fruits and vegetables.
4. Have on a few occasions had a couple alcoholic drinks. Surgeons rule is absolutely none for a full year.

Please talk to a professional and be honest with them. It'll help and we all need help at times. It will get better.
And wow vsg! So glad I don't know you so that you can't judge me or others close to me on days when we struggle.

I'm finding dating extremely frustrating but kind of in a good way. I have a new confidence in dating now and have many interested in me but it's just so difficult finding someone I want to be with.

Wow. Trying this!

Oh no Shelly! I would be very disappointed if my side effects of pseudotumor didn't go away but count my blessings they have except for the permanent vision loss.
I have not heard of this lawsuit. I was on seasonal birth control when it triggered and I go back and forth thinking it was just my weight or a combo of weight and bc.

Assuming that we all hit the week 2 or 3 stall right after surgery, about when did you hit your second lengthy stall? How long did it last?
Also, was there a time when you saw your weight loss slow significantly overall? For example, did it slow after 6 months?
-
Yep. 4 months post op and still have it. Ugh!

I was required to pass 4 monthly nicotine tests prior to surgery. It was always a urine test so if they say you're getting a blood test you're probably fine. The first one I failed because I had quit only 8 days earlier although I was close to passing. The test looks for more than just nicotine which allows them to see if the nicotine is only patch related or if you're still smoking.

YES! Before surgery it took all my energy to make it through life and I lived every hour of that life tired. Now I can sleep 7 hours and be perfectly rested all day. Never even considering a nap. That effect is better than even the weight loss itself.

I had the same concerns as you did at your stage. I stressed big time because i knew I was at a huge calorie deficit with the exercise I was doing and with eating 500 to 600 calories. I only lost about 1 pound between weeks 3 and 4.
I was told by the nut to work in a few higher calorie and fat items to get in the calories until I was more able to "eat" the 850 calories on my own. I didn't exactly do that routinely but I was up to around 850 calories by month 2 and have stayed there. I'm 3 months and 3 weeks post op and have went from 273 SW to 225 today so almost 50 pounds. I guess my point is to relax. Your body will not go into starvation mode too quickly and you will gradually increase your calories. I didn't believe I would be 850 ever at 1 month post op.

Studies have shown that to build a positive work environment with high morale, it is important to demonstrate that you genuinely care about the people that work for you and their lives outside of work.
I could not expect people that work for me to share their life with me and see that I genuinely care if I withheld such an important part of my life from them. It's a two way street.

It's for acid in your stomach which is apparently a common problem for people after surgery. I've never had such problems before. Apparently it's all under control with protonix but miserable without. Maybe I'll just stop it and see if it gets better if i tough it out
-
Has anyone been on protonix post surgery and had a difficult time coming off from it?
I'm just over 3 months and have felt great in those 3 months but my prescription expired and attempted a go without it. My stomach was quite uncomfortable pretty much the next day. I did call the surgeon and got refills but this has me worried. Am I always going to need it? When did you go off of it?

I had my first cup of coffee 8 weeks post op today. I emailed the dietician to see how "bad"it really is. We will see.

I've been working with a personal trainer for a month now and I've found whenever we do exercises that I should feel in my abs I don't feel it or not as much as I should. She said something like maybe the muscles are really loose from surgery still? I tried testing this by doing straight crunches and still don't feel it like I should. Anyone experience this? I'm 8 weeks out.
-
That sounds very much like my experience. I lost 12 pounds the first week (I really would like to know how much stomach weight they take out). The following two weeks I actually gained 2 pounds. I had a break down at the doctors 4 weeks out because I had the same fears as you.
I am now 8 weeks out and have lost about 26 total since surgery. 7 of those pounds were in the last 3 days. I'm learning to accept that the weight will come off, but it'll happen when my body is ready and may not be every week. Moral of the story: don't stress, eat and exercise like you've been taught, and the scale will work itself out.

We were told my the NUT to try to start getting all Protein from food. I'm 8 weeks out. She said to view protein supplements as like an inhaler when you're desperate to get protein in for that day. She stressed that food has nutrients that you simply don't get from the supplements. That's her view but as you can tell it appears to be different from what other posters have been told.

What were your instructions regarding calcium citrate? Were you told only chewable? How many mg per day?
Sleep problems after surgery?

Yes, it did get better. I don't really remember how long it took but it was a couple months of not so much fun. I really believe the surgery and losing weight made hormone levels go crazy. Hormone levels can impact sleep but that's just my theory of what was happening to me and not doctor verified. How old are you? Sorry you're going through it.
