  1. Today I had my first post op visit. My surgeon said I'm doing great! Although I'm only getting half of my liquid and half of my protein goal my surgeon said that that's normal. On an even better note I have officially lost 18lbs and my surgery was 10 days ago!! It feels awesome to know the hard work and mental stress is worth it! Couldn't be happier ))))

    First Op Doctors Visit

Thank you!! Its a great feeling. Good luck on your journey! At times it may seem long and silly but it is worth it. Every step will teach you something useful for post op. Congratulations and good luck!
  3. I'm still on week two but I'm curious as to how the transition from the liquids/pureeds was to solids. Easy? Difficult? Painful? Any opinions?
  4. I'm 9 days post op and I had the same issue. I found that it wasn't actually hunger. It was the movement of the gas that they pump in you during surgery. I was mistaking the movement of air for hunger. That may just be me but it sounds the same. Make sure you are getting you recommended fluid intake and protein intake and you'll be fine. If you are having you goals and are feeling a hunger beyond that you may want to consult your doctor because the biggest benefit of this surgery especially this soon is not being able to feel hunger. Good luck!
  5. I had my surgery on the 25th and I too had a cold leading up to surgery. On one had its a blessing because the pre op liquid diet leaves most feeling like they're starving so that decrease in appetite is working in your favor. I took meds leading up to surgery too. I stayed away from nsaids and took Tylenol instead. I took the tylenol severe cold and my allergy pills. Those seemed to help my cold and be safe for surgery
  6. I had my surgery last week and I am all too familiar with the pre op fast. I had the same thoughts of doubt and wondering if I made the right decision but trust me I would go back and do it again. Once you wake up from surgery you will feel no hunger. These two days of pain and sickness are setting you up for a lifetime of success. Fight through it, you can do it!

    First 2 weeks of liquid?!?

Thanks for the advice! Definitely going to give it a try
  8. I'm on my 8th day and I'm going crazy! Its not the cravings of real food that I'm missing. Its the fact that I feel like I'm having the same thing over and over again and they are growing to gross me out. I don't think I'm getting the amount of fluids in as I'm suppose to and I feel like if I had better options I would be able to tolerate more. Any ideas??

I've seen the isopure and was thinking about trying it but the price was crazy to me. It may be worth the try though

    Hi All!

This is my first time on here. I had my surgery on 3/25/14 which makes it a week as of yesterday. I have to be honest. It was much more difficult or at least different than I expected. I feel as if they warn you about text book feelings post op but not realistic ones. I wish I had a head up on the fact I was going to feel every sip from my throat until it hit my stomach. Or at least a warning that my sense of smell and taste would 180. Other than a few bumps in the road here and there everything has been going fairly well. I'm up and moving and in the first week I'm down 15lbs!!
