    Fill #4 and feeling good.

Hi, I was banded June 21st 2007. I have not had my first fill yet. I speak to my dietician once a month and as I am still losing weight regularly she does not advise a fill. She only wants me to have a fill when I stop losing weight. I am O K because I am losing, but I do feel that it is all me rather than the band helping me not to eat too much. I have just looked at your three month pictures and you all look really great. Well done everyone and good luck with the rest of your weight loss

    Whats the worst you've heard?

Hi green I thought "build like a brick shithouse"meant that I was huge and felt insulted but it - just goes to show how things can be taken the wrong way. Thanks you have made me feel a lot better! Now does "well built" mean that i have a lot up front? Because i don't, or did not at the time. Just kidding:)

    Whats the worst you've heard?

I was a young woman 5ft 4in weighing about 143lbs and some man described me as "that blond, built like a shithouse"! that smarted for ages
  6. Faithmd I was banded on the same day as you. Do you inytend to have a Fill soon? Like you Faithmd I have not had a fill yet as I am still losing weight. I do not have restriction at the momment except if I eat too fast or do not chew properly I was told to eat only ground meat or wafer thin meat for three months so I have not tried ordinary meat yet - hope to within the next couple of days. I was told not to eat ordinary bread for three months but could eat Toast Pita Bread or Wraps. These go down OK. I was also told not eat eat rice for three months as this can swell in the pouch causing difficulty in getting it down. I would like to say Faith that your weight loss is awesome - good luck with the rent it it. Also good luck to everyone else
  7. I agree with DonHoll1 I decided that i would not eat any junk foods or anything I shouldn'nt. I have not had a fill yet despite my op being on 21.06.07 and have lost 50lbs. I have an appointment with the dietician on 24.09.07 and I shall ask for a fill then as I find that I am eating more than when I started. When I had a dietician appointment on 24.08.07 she did not think I needed a fill because I had lost 15lbs in one month. I was losing 3lbs a week, but that has now slowed right up because I lost 1lb last wee and 2lbs this week.

    What do you think?

On the local news a woman who weighed 27 stones (378lbs) has been refused Weight Loss Surgery as it is not considered to be safe. She now wants to self pay and her husband is putting on an Elvis Suit and is going walking to raise the money for her to have the operation. Should we help?
  9. Our car insurance companies will not indsure us to grive for a week after an operation. Hope you do not have that restriction in the US

    What do you think?

Sorry I should have made this clear. This is the UK. Most people do not have medical insurance and have to reply on the State for all medical treatment. Even our Medical Insurance companies will not consider WLS. Period. I had to self pay even though I contribute to the State System and I have private medical insurance. Having said that do you think that I should contribute towards this lady's Fund so that she can have the op?
  11. I had glue, no problems apart from thyemlasting a long time and looking quite dirty

    Question about grapes

I have had no problem eating grapes or any other fruit that we normally eat with skin on. I have skinned grapes in the past and it is pretty easy. Wasabubblebutt explains well how to so it. BTW I was banded 21.06.07, have lost 48lbs with the pre and post op diet and have not had a fill yet
  13. I'm from the UK and my surgeon said that I should lose 60% of my weight loss in a year. He also said it is 30% band and 70% yourself is the effort needed to lose weight. I had my lapband on 21.06.07and have lost 48lbs since I started a pre-op diet on 04.06.07. I have not had a fill and only have a little restriction. I decided that I would only eat healthily and would cut out sugar and processed food. I also decided that I would only eat smaller portions and eat my meals from a small plate. I do not do great amounts of exercise, but I have been doing about 45 minutes walking each day except for the last week when I could not go walking as I have had blisters on my feet. I feel I now need to up my exercise as the weight loss seems to be slowing down. I hope the above is of interest of you in the US, Canada and Australia as from reading the posts all countries seem to be a little different.
  14. Hi I am new here. I am from the United Kingdom, I am 63 in October and was banded on 21.06.07. Since I started down the road to WLS on 04.06.07 I have lost 47lbs. Like lots of people here I am hoping that if I lose weight it will extend my life. I also wanted to lose weight as I amgoing on holiday fro two months to Australia and I wanted to be able get my bum (behind? Ass?) into the aircraft seat as it is about 24hrs away. I still have a lot more weight to lose - at least 100lbs. It has been really good and interesting reading all your posts. I have not yet had a fill. This is because I am losing weight well without one, however I do not feel much restriction, except if I try to eat to fast. I have had about 3 PBs all fromeating too fast. I have a feeling that my weight loss will slow up soon and then my dietician will put me forward for a fill. I have self funded my operation because it is very difficult to get banded on the National Health Service and with Private Medical Insurance. It bugs me a bit because I pay into the NHS and into Private Medical Insurance, but cannot get help from them. I am rwally pleased with the band though, even if it has not yet stated working for me Good Luck to everyone with your weight loss
