    Obesity Could Bankrupt NHS, UK

What do you pay for medical insurance? Does your employer always pay it for you? I pay approximately $270 a month.

Not only have I paid into the National Health Service, but I also have Private Medical Insurance. I could not get the band from either. Nor will I get any plastics if I need them. It stinks doesn't it.
  3. I love the way you Americans and Canadians talk, but I have one gripe, it is a bit similar to Whosyadaddy. I don't like that some Americans say Peter. They say Peedur and it reminds me of Pee. - Sorry! I know I have left myself wide open for critisism - so go ahead - I can take it.

Students are going to KILL me.

Do you get whole classes who are good and whole classes who are bad? Or are they all bad?

  6. Aussies. I thought bogans were people who wore lots of piercings and tatoos, dreadlocked hair (but not black people or people of colour) army greatcoats and live in mobile homes and are not very clean looking. That is what my Tasmanian relatives told me. (And now you are going to tell me about Tassie interbreeding I suppose!!!!!) We call bogans "New Age Travellers"

We are NHS to the world. People come from Africa with Aids, we cannot turn them away because it is against their human rights to send them away, because they cannot get treatment for it in Africa. The government have declared childbirth an emergency so anybody can come and have a baby in the UK, and their is a shortage of midwives. Then we have the Eastern Europeans coming in and whilst they work they can get healthcare straight awayfree. They are given lessons on how to claim benefits (welfare) and treatment. No wonder we are bankrupt. Some older people cannot even get treatment for Alzheimers and they have paid into the system all their lives. People cannot get treatment for Wet Macular Degeneration until they have lost the sight in one eye. Some women cannot get cancer treatment and waiting lists are endless. Some people can only get a GP appointment if they ring on certain days in the morning. I could go on and on.
  8. I also think we have a great deal of will power. How many slim people do you know who could go for weeks or even months without eating solid food, only having protein shakes. I once challenged a slim person to do it, she fell by the wayside at lunchtime following starting at breakfast. I know we fatties are like that as well, but we have to deprive ourselves of the things we like all the time.

What about this then? With my married name it is Batz, but with my maiden name it is..........Whorish Whispers
  10. Sorry Carol I spelled your name wrong. One of my close friends is Carole and I just got carried away and added an "e"
  11. Thanks for your kind thoughts Carole. I am, however, going to insist on a fill now because I want to get as much weight off as possible because I am having a two month holiday in Australia. We have a years aftercare included in our self pay and if I do not get a fill before I go to Oz, when I come back I will only have four months to get to my sweet spot before I have to start paying for fills. My big problem is that I keep on losing a good amount of weighteach month, but I am not prepared to stall my weight loss just to get a fill,
  12. We do not see our surgeons post op in the UK, unless we have problems.
  13. I have been doing it on willpower my dietician says I do not need one because I am still losing weight without one

    What's in a Name

My name is Ingrid, my last name is Roberts. My husband calls me Ingy so I decided to be Ingyrob
  15. I have also heard, not sure if it is true, that diet carbonated drinks also have a lot of salt in them, which makes you thirsty and makes you want to drink more. Anybody else heard that? I was told it at Weight Watchers.

    Suicide and Weight Loss Surgery

I have been reading the "Why am I Fat" thread. A lot of people who have posted have had very unhappy childhoods, relationship and marriages with sexual, physical and emotional abuse. I can see that being slim might not solve the fall out from the horrors they have lived through and that nothing will; so I can well believe the high suicide rates. But as Marimaru has said, it would be interesting to know how many suicides there have been by people who are very big and have not had surgery. I often think when I read stories of abuse "don't let the abusers get the better of you, live your life", but realise that I have not been through anything like what they have been through, so have no right to say that. My heart does go out to them though

Was anyone banded in December of '06?

Ibrahem. Cross that bridge when you come to it. Which is worse having the skin with fat in it or having the skin without it?

Was anyone banded in December of '06?

I don't think your face will go wrinkly yet Ibrahem so don't worry!

Was anyone banded in December of '06?

I am similar to you Denise. I have lost 60lbs and have Turkey neck and Chest. Come to that I am turkey all over. My wrinkles have come on my face and they are deep ravines. I am 63 so quite a bit older than you, but I still do not like it. LOL
  20. I'm with you Green I like my clothes baggy. I was a little bit miffed because I had three really smart trouser suits which were too small. I tried them on a few weeks ago when it was still warm and they fit me and I thought that they would be great to wear in the autumn after my holidays. When I came to put them on they drowned me, so now I will never get to wear them. It did make me laugh Green when you said your pants fell off. I am sure I am wrong, but I had visions of this very small woman prancing about in her knickers with a huge swollen head, all bruised and scabby. I hope this post does not offend. I am laughing with you not at you. Have a good holiday Dynamo

    Whats the worst you've heard?

A woman I worked with said that her husband could not bear fat people and could not bear to have foods like cooking oil, butter or any kind of fat in the house. It made him shudder. She was a slim ,good looking woman, but her skin was like sandpaper. So rough and dry and I thought to myself no wonder! Bjean I can't watch your dancing with the stars, but we have a similar programme in the UK and I have started to watch that. I think two of the judges we have here - Len Goodman and Bruno Tonioni - you also have in the US. If Kenny Rogers is a little aggressive he will have to go dont you think? I think I am almost at the end of my dental treatment. The worst is over. I am having dental implants, much better than dentures.
  22. Hi Linda E and welcome. Lots of people here talk about cups measurements. I have a cup measurement here in the UK but I do not think I could survive on only one and a half cups of food a day, so I was wondering what would your cup measurement equate to in lbs and ozs.
  23. green/ He probably caused those accidents and then drove on in his merry way. My friend says her day was like that. She always drove when they nhad to go anywhere because she was terrified.
  24. Hello Green Glad you are on the mend
  25. Glad you enjoyed your holiday. It is hard to lose weight on holiday, and as you say you did not put any on. I know I used to put on about 7 lbs whenever I had a holiday. Good Luck with your port repositioning
