    June 2014 Sleevers Check In!

@@livingmore Its one of the reasons I prefer not to tell people beforehand......its like everyday they see you, the expect for you to have lost 20 more pounds or lose at their pace. Last I checked this was my journey. I'm so glad to have bariatricpal as a resource to communicate with people going through the same things I'm going through. I had lapband in 07 and only lost 40-50 pounds, now 7 years later revised to gastric sleeve and its been exciting and scary at the same time. I just keep praying and doing what the doctor says....hopefully this time will be successful.

What if I'm taking in less than 500 calories per day and still losing slow? I Aldo walk 5-7 days per week 3-5 miles per day? Its tough but eventually the scales will again. Had a rude co worker ask me.....so when are you gonna start seeing results from your surgery? Lol! I told her my weight and its within 20 pounds of hers......wonder how slow she'll think it is once I lose 30-40 more pounds. Patience is key, I suppose.

    Second stall *sigh*

I have a question. What if I'm only drinking 2-3 protein shakes and maybe 1/4 cup of soup plus water or unsweet tea.....tomorrow 3 weeks post op. Is there a such thing as taking in too little calories? I also walk 3-5 miles daily.....weight loss slow

@@wittygirl Happy you've got it all worked out. I'm so happy I was taken off my blood pressure and diabetes medicine before I left the hospital. Wonderful feeling! What I'm doing for the 4th....being a couch potato! Thinking about what I was doing this time last year......I was in San Antonio with a guy that I love so much. This year.....well, let's just hope it gets better.

@@ChristmasJanet Congratulations!! Way to go!! So happy for you. Besides us, I haven't seen anyone else mention the fluid weight gain after surgery. ....but it sure did happen and at first it was so scary but thank goodness the scale is moving in the right direction now. @@marycw1955 I bet we will all get real creative before te solid food maintainence phase kicks in. I don't like ricotta cheese but I've seen it mentioned a lot.

Stacey, I think your into something. I was such a sweet tooth person before surgery and now they're just yucky! I guess I'll try to blend some and add other stuff. I'm still in the creamy Soup and liquid stage til next Wednesday when I progress to soft stuff. I read someone say they ate refriend been cheese and avocado. I've been dreaming about trying that and adding some canned chicken and salsa. Ha!! Such a foodie guess that'll never go away. I eat about 3 teaspoons of soup and I'm full. I can only drink maybe a fourth of a bottle of Water at a time and I don't want anymore so I just sip. I guess it'll get better but the best part is not craving food or thinking about it much at all. Finally the hungry lion that used to live inside my tummy is gone.

    June 2014 Sleevers Check In!

Stacey, I feel ya on the sleep thing but I get it in when I can. I finally got back up tomy 5 miles this morning on the walking trail. I'm so proud and was thrilled ....came home and passed out on the couch for the last 3 and half hours. Ha!! Oh well, I'm back!! I will try to keep this schedule and work 2-6pm then come home and nap again. My schedule might staff a little different for the first month post surgery but I'll manage. I haven't even tasted a protein shake since Sunday or Monday. Not drinking nearly as much liquid as I should but I intend to fix that by next week. Also I notice people posting about hair loss around 3-3.5 months so I'm gonna step up protein and vitamins asap.

Good idea about the followup labs. I'll share it all with my do for and let him decide. Well, have a good one. Gonna snooze about 30 minutes before going walking. Have a great 4th of July holiday weekend.

    June 2014 Sleevers Check In!

Janet, I've seen others post about not getting s complete nights rest as well. I wander what that is all about. Also, I used to love to have the air conditioning on a low setting. Even with is at 78° now I'm bundled up under the covers during the day. My poor kiddos just stare at me and say Mom its blazing hot in here and your cool? Have you noticed any changes like that? Good luck getting back to work! I manage a retail clothing store so I usually work 9-10 per day on my feet for at least 8 of those hours. My post op app isn't until Saturday 12th as my doctor is from Dallas and has a weekend practice here so until I e been seen by him I think I'll take it slow but I am excited to get back to doing something.

Also, I can't sleep more that 5-6 hour per night and I still awaken 1-2 times per night. I tried really hard not to take a nap yesterday to see if that would help but again, I'm awake just before 4 am with no where to go. I'll put on some walking clothes about 5:30 and head to the park that's always a nice way to start my day

    June 2014 Sleevers Check In!

Janet, Good luck to you! Glad you shared that as well, I was so discouraged at first. I've noticed that the more the swelling in my tummy goes down the better I feel about my progress. Also, adding creamy soup has helped me have a bowel movement and I think that has attributed to the scale moving down as well. I'm still not taking in nearly the amount of fluid that is recommended. I return to work next Monday, I plan to work half days the first week to ease myself back in.

    June 2014 Sleevers Check In!

Do you all remember a time when we couldn't lose any weight? Now we're a little anxious about stalls. Each day, each week, each month is another step forward in our journey. Celebrate the small wins, like the fact that you aren't emotional eating, sneaking extra dessert, grabbing a snack in the drive thru and then heading home to cook dinner for your family and eat again. There's always something positive to focus on until that scale budges again. Good luck everyone. I'm one week and one day out and I was embarrassed to admit but on surgery day I weighed in at 202, stayed in hospital from Wednesday until Friday evening and by the time I came home and weighed, I'd actually gained weight......guess it was all the iv fluids. I've just started to go down back towards my surgery date weight. My post op app is late next week, I'm just praying I've lost a few pounds under my surgery weight by then. Good luck to all and remember it could always be worse.

    June 2014 Sleevers Check In!

I had band to sleeve revision surgery last week on the 25th as well. Congratulations relentless302. I quit the liquid hydrocodone last Saturday. I've never liked pain meds. Instead I've been walking like the doctor suggested and I tried somethingon my own not sure if it'll work for you but its helped me tremendously. Ive been using a heating pad with moist heat on my tummy. It has done wonders for the soreness.....

I also had surgery on the 25th. Other than that how are you feeling? Are you a revion patient or regular sleever?

    Emotional Journey

Wow! This entire strand has brought me to tears. I can relate to each of you. I had revision surgery last week on the 25th. I feel swollen as well, I'm so anxious to start losing weight and secretly scared of failing again. The scars are not pretty but when I think about looking at the old scars prior to revion surgery they had faded are were barely noticeable so I'm sure this time will be no different. I'm interested in knowing how weight loss progress goes for you ladies. Its hard to others that have went from band to sleeve....hope its okay if I send ya send request and follow some of your post. I need all the positive feedback I can get. I just keep praying and asking God to give me the patience and strength I need to take it one day at a time and be happy in the moment. I've been using moist heat for the aches and its helped tremendously. Doc gave me liquid hydrocodone but I haven't taken it since Saturday.... Like I said that heat works wonders. I am trying to get back on my walking regimen as quickly as possible.

    June 25th!

How long was your liquid diet, ladies? I also had surgery on the 25th. Liquids with one lean meat and veggie per day for two weeks prior to surgery. The first 4 days I didn't know I could have a small meal. Went to docs appt for check up and when I mentioned the need to chew on something the doc told me that it was ok to have one lean meat and veggie each day bit don't over do it. I still lost 12 pounds so not too bad, I guess.

    June 2014 Sleevers Check In!

Janet, My surgery was the 25th as well. I feel like I slept through everything as well. My potassium was low and I had really bad nausea, instead of going home after one night in the hospital I had to stay two nights. I was released yesterday afternoon. After a 3 1/2 hour car drive home, I went right back to sleep. About 6 weeks prior to surgery, I started walking and walked 5 miles a day all the way up til the day before surgery. When I woke up this morning, I felt alert and ready to at least try to walk a half mile. Since I handy had meds since 8pm I felt safe driving to the walking trail to meet my walking buddies. I'm so proud of myself, I went 2 1/2 miles.....I actually felt better at first but towards the end I felt winded and was ready to go home. I came home took pain meds and went back to sleep. This afternoon I have been out with my kiddos visiting family and sitting in the car while the kids shopped for a few groceries. I'm in bed now and still haven't had pain meds since this morning, praying I can make it until bedtime. Feeling pretty good but don't want to over do it. Are you feeling better 4 days post surgery? Does your tummy feel bloated or swollen?
